  5. Police incident in Bewdley 'ended'published at 18:25 BST 19 October 2016

    The police incident has now ended in Bewdley, although officers are keen to track down a man involved and say they they are concerned for his welfare.

    They're urging him to contact them to ensure that he is safe and well.

    Traffic in the town centre remains heavier than usual.

    Police tell us there is no threat to the public in Bewdley. 

    West Mercia says officers were called at 16:40 over concerns for the welfare of an individual at a property on Load Street.

    Armed officers were deployed due to information they had received, but on arrival found there was no threat.

    Police are now looking for an individual who has left the scene.

    Some photos from the scene in Bewdley, although we have very little information at the moment.

    The High Street is closed opposite Merchant's Fish Bar, alongside the River Severn. There is a heavy police presence by the bridge, with at least four police cars reported.

    There's been a surge in the number of small producers making cider in Herefordshire. 

    The county already makes more than half of the cider drunk in the UK, but the industry is currently enjoying a further boost because of increased demand for traditionally made ciders and perrys.

    James Marsden (pictured) is one of 93 craft cider and perry makers in Herefordshire. And its all done here at Gregg's Pit in Much Marcle.

    Two people have been treated for minor injuries after two cars collided on the A44 near Fladbury this morning. 

    Police were called to reports of the crash between a Ford Fiesta and Fiat 500 at about 09:10. 

    We're told nobody was seriously injured in the crash.

    Now, a multimillion-pound sat-nav project has been launched which aims to stop lorries and other vehicles getting stuck in narrow lanes and under low-lying bridges on UK routes.

    Ordnance Survey is creating a database that will contain information about 200,000 miles (321,869km) of roadways to prevent such accidents.

    The Transport Secretary Andrew Jones said, external the digital facility would launch before the end of the year.

    Hereford FC have confirmed the club's chairman, Jon Hale, is standing down from the board of directors with immediate effect.

    In a statement, the club's board says they are in unanimous agreement with Jon Hale, external that a new commercial venture he is launching would cause a conflict of interests with his official role at Edgar Street and have therefore accepted his resignation.

  16. Worcestershire County Cricket club announces its first ever MDpublished at 15:58 BST 19 October 2016

    Worcestershire County Cricket Club has announced that its first-ever managing director will be Jon Graham.

    The new MD knows the club very well after serving as business development director, commercial director and general manager over the past four years.

    Jon Graham says the aim is to make the club sustainable outside of cricket.

    Luctonians’ Austrian forward Stefan Psota will be out for several months, the club says

    Luctonians’ director of rugby Alex Davidson has confirmed Austrian international forward Stefan Psota will be out for several months after sustaining a double fracture of his arm.

    The injury came when he was playing for Austria against Bosnia in a recent international but Psota underwent surgery within four hours and is said to be doing as well as can be expected.

    Davidson says it’s clearly a blow but they hope the second row will be available again early in the New Year.

    A Worcestershire World War One heritage trail is being launched in time for half-term.

    The Woodbine Willie Trail celebrates the life of Geoffrey Anketell Studdert Kennedy, better known by his wartime nickname Woodbine Willie.

    The trail takes in 15 locations across Worcester, starting at The Guildhall, taking in Worcester Cathedral, his recently unveiled statue in the Cornmarket, the Studdert Kennedy family home and his final resting place at St John’s Cemetery.

  19. Worcestershire man warns about Valium addictionpublished at 14:54 BST 19 October 2016

    A Worcestershire man who took Valium for 21 years is warning that giving it up can leave people feeling suicidal.

    Steven Bailey from Bromsgrove was given the drug, often known by its generic name diazepam, in the 1970s after being diagnosed with PTSD following a motorcycle accident and said quitting was "horrendous".

    Mr Bailey said he could hardly get out of bed when he stopped taking the drug and tried to take his life on a couple of occasions.

    He says he should have been offered counselling instead of the pills and described them as a "quick fix".

    On its website, the Medicines and Healthcare products Regulatory Agency says diazepam should only be taken for a short time and the risk of addiction depended on the dose and duration of treatment.
