In curling, nothing has been simple this week. It feels very familiar to four years ago.

Italy had a slow start to the competition, but for the GB girls last night it was their best performance of the week against Japan.

GB look like they are totally in it now.

The British team certainly seem to be in relaxed mood. Lots of laughing and smiling and lightness to the step - a big change from earlier in the competition.

And I don't think I'm betraying any confidences if I tell you that some of them were lustily singing along to Whitney Houston's I Wanna Dance With Somebody (Who Loves Me) during the warm-ups...

Team GB opt to blank the first end. Why would they do that? Here's the answer from BBC Sport commentator Logan Gray...

"Basically, your aim when you've got the hammer is to score at least two. So often, if you're not able to do that with your final stone, you are better 'blanking' the end so you can keep the hammer for the next end, and try and score more than one next time."

Norway have done it - Jens Luras Oftebro has got his hat-trick of golds after an incredible sprint finish!

It was close all the way on the final lap and Oftebro did well to keep his balance after a bit of a stumble late on.

Finland's Eero Hirvonen gives it his all on the final straight, drawing level for a moment but Oftebro just had enough in the end to complete a remarkable treble.

Austria come through 22.3 seconds later for bronze.

That silver medal for Nikita Filippov in the men's skimo is the first at these Games for Individual Neutral Athletes (AINs).

The 23-year-old from Russia is one of the 13 Russians and seven Belarusians who were approved to compete at the Games by the International Olympic Committee.

However, as part of the rules for competing, it will not be reflected in the medal table.

    One lap to go!

Finland have moved in front after a superb lap from Ilkka Herola.

It's over to Eero Hirvonen now... but straight from the exchange, Norway retake the lead through the superstar Jens Luras Oftebro. Will be keep himself out in front to complete the Nordic combined hat-trick of gold medals at these Games?

    Honestly, it's hard to tell.

Skipped by mixed doubles bronze medallist Stefania Constantini, they started appallingly, but have shown signs of life in their last three matches, winning a couple and pushing Canada to an extra end last night.

And they have the boisterous home crowd behind them.

Two laps to go and the snow is coming down as heavily as at any stage so far in the race!

The top five has become a top three and it is Norway, Finland and Austria fighting for the medals... and now Stefan Rettenegger of Austria has fallen.

    It's all happening!

From nowhere, Italy are closing on the top five!

The home fans love that but it prompts a surge of pace from the leading pack. Norway still lead but that pace is too much for Japan and they are starting to lose ground on the front four now.

Three more laps of the 1.5km circuit to go... and Vinzenz Geiger of Germany has fallen twice in the space of a few metres and taken out Japan's Ryoma Yamamoto in the process.

Good news for Italy, even better news for Norway, Austria and Finland.

Another day, another must-win game for Team GB's women.

Rebecca Morrison's rink have won their last two to give themselves a shot at an unlikely semi-final place.

After some lengthy debate in the car back down the mountain after last night's win over Japan - interspersed with some 80s pop bangers - the BBC Sport curling team have decided that a win over Italy for GB and victory for already-qualified Switzerland over the United States should do it.

Norway still hold the lead - albeit it a very narrow one - at the halfway stage.

But it is essentially any three from five for the medals and it could be in any order.

Finland, Austria, Japan and Germany are those up there with Jens Luras Oftebro and Norway.

What a charge that was from Cardona Coll. He never let the lead slip. It is a great day for the Spanish.

The oldest man in the race adds the Olympic title to his world title he won last February.

It all started at the top of the diamond; he surged to the top of the steps and never looked back.

Neutral athlete Nikita Filippov takes silver and France's Thibault Anselmet, who battled his way back into contention having been last early on to win bronze.
