Chloe Kim is the GOAT of women's halfpipe snowboarding. What hasn't she won?!

    Two Winter Olympics golds.

    Three World Championship golds.

    EIGHT X Games golds.

Her eighth gold at the X Games, seen as the holy grail of action sports, in January saw her break the record for most halfpipe titles in the history of the women's competition, and ties her level with the Flying Tomato, Shaun White, overall.

The halfpipe is situated slightly higher up the mountainside, which means it can’t really be seen from the main spectator area.

It means everyone has to trek up to a secondary area - easier said than done on snow - which is considerably smaller, but it’s good to see that fans are also able to line one side of the pipe.

And they’re still making plenty of noise. A guy behind me, Canada flag tied around his neck Superman-style, just screamed “THAT’S MY SISTER” as Elizabeth Hosking finished her opening run.

  6. Ilves sets pace in Nordic Combinedpublished at 09:49 GMT 11 February

That's it for the ski jumping element of the Nordic Combined and the pacesetter is Estonia's Kristjan Ilves who scored 132.6 points ahead of Austrian Thomas Rettenegger who managed 128.9 and Japan's Ryota Yamamoto on 127.8.

The athletes will be back in action at 12:45 for the cross-country element where the medals will be decided.

The ski jump points awarded are converted into a time handicap for the cross-country race with each point worth four seconds.

It means Ilves will set off first in a staggered start and has an advantage of 15 seconds over Rettenegger with Yamamoto a further four seconds back but things can all change with some athletes stronger in one element than the other.

Halfpipe is magic because you have to have the technical difficulty of going higher than a rooftop, while doing crazy spins and tricks and landing - sometimes backwards - over and over again.

Aesthetically for a fan it's so pleasing but you're also thinking 'how are they going to survive?'

There is just so much emotion attached to it.

Buongiorno from the Livigno halfpipe, which is making its Olympic debut today.

Unless you've stood in or near a halfpipe, you simply can't comprehend how big they are.

It's exactly 6.7m high, about 20m wide, and up to 200m long. And pure, rock hard ice.

I've been in Livigno for over a week now and every single evening, even long before the riders arrived in town, the machine's have been out, grooming it to precision. A work of art.

  9. Another Nordic combined medal for Norway?published at 09:35 GMT 11 February

Nordic combined - Normal hill/10km cross country

    Well, maybe not!

Norway's haul of 35 Winter Olympic medals in Nordic combined is more than the next nearest nation, Germany.

But they've travelled to Italy without two of their biggest stars.

Jarl Magnus Riiber is the most decorated Nordic combined athlete ever with 11 World Championships golds and 78 World Cup wins.

But he stepped away from the sport last season, without having ever won Olympic gold, after being diagnosed with Crohn's disease.

Meanwhile, six-time Olympic medallist Jorden Graabak retired in 2025 to pursue "new adventures".

Austria's Johannes Lamparter is today's favourite, having won three of this season's first four World Cup races.

Still, Einar Luraas Oftebro is doing his best to make sure Riiber and Graabak aren't missed too much...

There's no shame in saying we wanted an early medal - it spurs everyone else on. We didn't get it.

But we must not forget that these [fourth-place finishes] could have swung either way. Every single one of those three results could have been ours.

The best prospect for the first British medal... the skeleton, they're unbelievable and unbeatable. Especially in the men's, we have two ranked number one and two in the world. One of them is guaranteed to get on that podium.

Chloe Kim loves riding, she is in this because she loves snowboarding. She'll be enjoying the moment, it's not about medals for any of these riders.

What we'll see from her in qualifying is a solid run, maybe play it slightly safe and leave all the risk for the final.

  14. Kim aims for another goldpublished at 09:20 GMT 11 February

Today sees the start of American Chloe Kim's bid for a third consecutive Olympic medal with two qualification runs at Livigno Snow Park - the first from 09:30 and the second from 10:27.

The halfpipe event features riders sliding across a 22-foot-tall, U-shaped ramp and performing acrobatic tricks in the air.

But preparations have not been smooth for the 25-year-old who suffered a shoulder injury during a training run a month ago and was out of action for two weeks but she says she is fit to compete despite having to wear a shoulder brace.

Kim will be the 15th of 24 athletes in action - others to watch are Japan's Sara Shimizu and Sena Tomita and South Korea's Choi Gaon with the top 12 going through to Thursday's final.

The Nordic Combined athletes have already been in action in their ski jumping practice round.

Norway's Einar Luraas Oftebro topped the standings ahead of Stefan Rettenegger of Austria with Vinzenz Geiger of Germany and Japan's Ryota Yamamoto in joint third but the scores will not count when the competition starts.

  17. What is Nordic Combined?published at 09:10 GMT 11 February

Nordic Combined - Normal hill/10km cross country

So you think you could excel at one Winter Olympic sport? Well, today you can watch an event which features competitors excelling at two with two completely contrasting skills.

Nordic Combined sees athletes compete in ski jumping and cross-country skiing, but its Olympic future is in doubt because of its small following and also the fact that it is the only Olympic sport - summer or winter - in which only men compete.

Today's competition will start with one practice ski jump on the normal hill, and one that's scored. Points earned from the ski jump are then converted into a time handicap, with the winner setting off first in a staggered start for the 10km cross-country race.

Each point is worth four seconds.
