"I love playing in that environment and coming out with a win makes it extra special.

"We knew when it came into the second half it was going to be a battle of the power plays. We just kind of controlled ourselves well and put them under pressure. Absolutely where we want to be."Rest and recover now before the semi-finals tomorrow night."

"We got there, so maybe in the finals!

"I am more relieved now. I have landed the tricks, but it is pretty sick."

Matteo Rizzo has surely secured the bronze for Italy!

Brilliant and he thoroughly enjoyed himself as well, practically punching the air at one point of his routine.

He falls to his knees at the end of it, tears in his eyes before getting up and punching the air.

Now comes a the knee slide, Rizzo is making the most of his moment!

Team GB's Mia Brookes, speaking to BBC Sport about her preparation for the final: "Go for a shred, go ride with my mates and I'll be right.

"Defiantly listen to Pantera and defiantly Black Label Society. I have got more to give, but I don't know if that's the jump for it, so we will have to see."

On the support and advice from her parents: "My dad said to me after that 12, 'Don't ever do that again'.

"My mum is just like, 'she knows what she is doing'. My dad goes, 'Oh my god,' I have to sit him down and say 'I know what I'm doing'."

Georgia's Nika Egadze is awarded a 154.79. That almost certainly won't be enough for a medal.

And here comes Italy's Matteo Rizzo to try and make absolutely sure of that. Cue big cheers from the crowd in Milan.

That won't be good enough for an Olympic medal from Nika Egadze. He only landed a double lutz in the first element - a quad was planned - and tripped on the triple axel.

His coach, the notorious Eteri Tutberidze, was pacing like an angry bear. She gives him a small pat on the back as he leaves the rink.

Matteo Rizzo now essentially needs to avoid a complete disaster to earn bronze for Italy.

Nika Egadze isn't too pleased with himself after his routine. A bit scrappy from the Georgian.

Disappointment for him and we'll see what the score comes out as but it could be good news for Italy in that fight for the bronze.

I've done some very rudimentary maths. If the men's scores go according to their season bests, USA will beat Japan to gold by one point and Italy will beat Georgia to bronze by one point.

    It couldn't be much closer.

Team GB's Mia Brookes, speaking to BBC Sport: "I was so scared. I got it down, but it was a pretty scary one.

"When I dropped 10 [on her first run], I was like 'I have got to land this, I have got to land this'. Then I didn't. I was stood at the bottom, and I was like, 'No'.

"Then second run I was like, 'OK, I have got to land this or there is four years until the next one'. I stood up there, and I was like I have got to land this one.

"I think I was pretty relieved after the second run, but even into the third run, I had to have a bit of a battle still."

All eyes will once again be on the 'Quad God', Ilia Malinin, as he aims to pick up his first Olympic medal.

The 21-year-old American is expected to be one of the stars of these Games after becoming the first ever figure skater to land the quadruple axel, one of skating's toughest techniques.

However his short program last night was quite shaky, as he only landed a triple axel. It allowed Japan's Yuma Kagiyama - expected to be his main rival for gold in the men's singles - to comfortably outscore him.

"What do you expect? It is Olympic ice. I am sure a lot of people would feel that," a prickly Malinin said afterwards on whether pressure to perform contributed to his errors.

Kagiyama is not performing in the men's free skate tonight - the final and potentially decisive competition of the team event - with Shun Sato representing Japan.

Will that take the pressure off Malinin and allow him to perform his best? We wait and see.
