Nathan MacKinnon at the end of the power play! His shot squeezes in at the near post and Canada lead!

Just 35 seconds to go and Canada are surely into Sunday's gold medal match.

Finland are challenging for an offside infringement well before the goal was scored - they have nothing to lose...

Forget friendly Canadians, the atmosphere here now is like a Roman colosseum.

WHAT A SAVE! Juuse Saros somehow denies Canada's Nathan MacKinnon.

But then Finland are penalised for a high stick and Canada have a power play with 2.35 to go.

What a chance for Canada to win it now.

That's the first heat of the two-woman bobsleigh done.

It's not the start GB will have wanted - Adele Nicolls and Ashleigh Nelson are down in 20th, but there is still time to pull it back!

Kaillie Armbruster-Humphries and Jasmine Jones' track record time of 56.92 seconds was the fastest, followed by Germany's Laura Nolte and Deborah Levi in second and compatriots Lisa Buckwitz and Neele Schuten in third.

The Americans have disrupted Germany's plan for a clean sweep, but can they sustain their lead?

The second heat is at 18:50 GMT.

On paper, the reintroduction of NHL players to the Olympics this year should have benefited the Canadians - they have won gold in three of the previous five Games where stars from the top North American league have been involved.

But they are not having things all their own way.

That's been coming for Canada - Shea Theodore fires in from distance and, from 2-0 down, the Canadians are all square in this semi-final.

Finnish goalie Juuse Saros felt he may have been impeded in the build-up to that, but the goal stands.

9.26 to go in the final period.
