Drama already at Livigno Snow Park!

Top seed Finley Melville Ives, who is the reigning world champion and X Games champion, takes to the halfpipe first and loses a ski mid-air after catching the tip of his ski on his hip.

The New Zealander has been dominating this event this year, but he will need an absolute blinder of a second run.

It's going to be a chaotic morning at the Livigno Snow Park.

With the men's halfpipe qualifiers pushed back to this morning, it means they will be running alongside the ski cross.

The thing is, the halfpipe is right next to the ski cross course. They are so close that when I was up at the halfpipe last night, I was watching them clear the snow off the ski cross course between runs.

    It was quite the operation!

After a 24-hour delay, the men's ski halfpipe will finally get under way at 09:30 GMT, with the second runs taking place at 10:27 GMT.

Qualification was postponed from Thursday because of bad weather, but it means the athletes will have to compete qualifying and take on the final on the same day, with the medals down for decision at 18:30 GMT.

In halfpipe, skiers are given a score out of 100 per run by each of the six judges based on overall impression.

The judges evaluate the sequence difficulty and execution of tricks, the amount of risk, and how the rider uses the pipe.

The highest and lowest judges' scores are discarded and the four remaining scores are averaged.
