    USA's Nick Goepper lands some big tricks early in his second run and they're enough to get him to third spot on 89.00.

    It was the tiniest bit scrappy towards the end and that cost him a few points.

    Henry Sildaru - the iceman. He gives nothing away. He strides away like he meant it all along.

    Standing in Choi Min-jeong's way will be compatriot Kim Gil-li.

    The 21-year-old is one of the favourites to medal in this 1500m event having won the World Cup title this season and the 2024 World Championships.

    There are also plenty of other strong shorter distance skaters in the line-up.

    The beauty of short track is that anything could happen!

    We know where this is going. That is what we're talking about from Alex Ferreira.

    Silver in Korea and bronze in Beijing. Ferreira now sits in gold position. Pressure is just starting to build now.

    Big from Ferreira. 90.50 puts him into the lead - that's the first score above 90 in this final.

    It's an American one-two now. Gus Kenworthy of Great Britain is third.

    South Korea's Choi Min-jeong will bid for a third successive 1500m gold tonight.

    The 27-year-old is one of the most decorated short track speed skaters of all time with six Olympic medals to her name. He most recent was 3000m relay gold in Milan.

    She set the existing 1500m world record time in 2016 and it is yet to be beaten.

    If she wins a medal tonight she will be South Korea's most decorated Olympian of all time.

    American Hunter Hess finds some massive height and looks on course for a big score, but can't quite complete the clean run that would have almost certainly put him in the medal places.

    Short Track Speed Skating - women's 1500m

    Away from the halfpipe, the women's 1500m short track speed skating will get under way shortly and it is back-to-back action all the way through from the quarter-finals to the final.

    How does it work? Well, there are six quarter-finals with six skaters in each. The fastest three in each group go through to the three semi-finals.

    Precise and elegant skiing from Birk Irving. The 1440 is a big number and that will work hard for him in the scoring.

    We have a new leader. Birk Irving of the USA scores 87.50.

    Britain's Gus Kenworthy (84.75) drops into silver medal position.

    And the best qualifiers from this morning are still to attempt their second runs.

    It was huge from Dylan Marineau, but there was not a hope of landing it.

    No improvement for Marineau nor fellow Canadian Andrew Longino, who led at the end of the first run.

    A slight improvement on their first run but it was another big bump near the top of the track for Adele Nicoll and Ashleigh Nelson.

    They've got a lot to improve on in the early stages of their run for tomorrow's medal-deciding heats.

    Adele Nicoll and Ashleigh Nelson are not having a great night.

    They did get out of the blocks without a knock in this second heat but they were slower.

    They then suffered another big knock further round the course, along with a few other time costly mistakes.

    They are going to have a lot to do tomorrow.

    Big run, and a big run when Kenworthy needed it most. Now he has the freedom to push for a run like he did in qualifying.

    That's the banker run done, and he can leave it all out there in the final run.

    Ben Harrington of New Zealand, who was second at the end of the first run, aborts halfway through and won't improve.

    Irish skier Ben Lynch is next - he's fourth at the moment - and goes down halfway through his second run. A slight improvement to his score but not to his position in the standings.
