A reminder that Canada are without their inspirational captain Sidney Crosby for this match because of injury.

They needed overtime to beat the Czechs in the previous round.

American veteran Elana Meyers Taylor and Jadin O'Brien have just taken to the track.

Their time of 57.14 seconds puts them into fifth - but it is still very early days.

Compatriots Kaillie Armbruster-Humphries and Jasmine Jones set a track record time of 56.92 seconds in this first heat so that is the time to beat so far.

As a ruck behind the Finnish goal is broken up, the second period ends.

The break comes at a good time for Finland, disrupting Canadian momentum. But it may have to be a backs-to-the-wall job for the last 20 minutes.

Team GB's Adele Nicoll spoke openly about her disappointment following her 18th-place finish in the monobob earlier this week.

But, the 29-year-old said the two-woman event is her preferred one and she will pilot the sled this evening with brakewoman Ashleigh Nelson.

Both women are dual athletes with Nicoll also competing in the shot put while Nelson is a former sprinter and becomes only the second British woman to compete at the summer and winter Olympics.

Heat one is under way, followed by the second at 18:50 GMT.

The medals are decided tomorrow evening.

And that's that for the second period.

Canada had 14 shots to three in the middle 20 minutes but both sides scored one goal apiece, with Finland's goal coming while Canada had a power play.

How crucial will Sam Reinhart's reply prove to be to the final outcome?

One to watch out for this evening in the two-woman bobsleigh is American veteran Elana Meyers Taylor, who finally took Olympic gold in the monobob a couple of nights ago to add to the three silver and two bronze medals she has already won across two events.

The 41-year-old could make it an even more successful Games over the next couple of days.

Compatriot Kaillie Armbruster-Humphries also pilots her own sled this evening and will be another one to watch having won medals at the last five Games.

Both women are here with their children and will be drawing on that extra special 'mum power' to help them through.
