    Men's ice hockey semi-finals - USA 2-0 Slovakia

    Emma Smith
BBC Sport at Milano Santagiulia Ice Hockey Arena

After looking in the opening minutes like they might be overwhelmed, Slovakia found their skates and by the end of the first period seemed to be making a game of this.

But a second American goal from Tage Thompson, with 40 seconds left until the first interval, is a killer.

Team GB's Gus Kenworthy, speaking to BBC Sport after finishing sixth in the men's freeski halfpipe final: "It wasn't what I wanted. Not even entirely sure what happened on the first run, just a fluke mistake.

"Then, on the second run, I saw that a lot of people weren't putting their run down. So, I thought I would kind of play it safe and get a score on the board, which I did.

"Then I had only one shot for my third run, which I didn't put together.

"I feel like there is not a difference of being sixth or 12th. Anyway, I am still happy to land a run."

It must be said, both of these teams are wearing very similar kits. Both line up in variations of red, white and blue.

USA's jersey is more white while Slovakia's has more blue. Both wear blue trousers.

It's quite confusing in the stadium and I imagine little better at home.

    Third semi-final is under way.

Not sure it can be as dramatic as that second one? Even the commentators in my ear were shocked.
