The 50km is a long event, it's long enough for thoughts to creep into your head and doubts to creep you in and you really have to fight to keep your focus.

You can have periods in the race where you feel awful but it's how you fight through and you'll be surprised after five, 10 minutes you'll feel better again and things feel easier again.

With two laps down (and three to go), three Norwegians lead the way in this men's 50km race, with Johannes Hoesflot Klaebo at the back of the train.

Neutral athlete Savelii Korostelev and France's Huga Lapalus complete the top five.

Cool as a cucumber from Li Tianma, nailing his back double full-full-full. He gets very high in the air and has tonnes of armography (outstretched to the side, one hand pointing to the sky...).

USA, China, Australia, and Switzerland will compete for the gold medal.

    1. USA - 351.23 points
    2. China - 315.02
    3. Australia - 289.04
    4. Switzerland - 278.48

The scores are reset for the final (10:45 GMT), with each team completing another three jumps.

Switzerland join USA and Australia in the final!

Lewis Irving's jump is messy (95.47) and only enough for fourth place for Canada.

The final jump of this session will be from Li Tianma, the bronze medallist in the men's individual event. He only needs 70.18 to send China through.

Switzerland's Noe Roth was the silver medallist in the men's individual event.

With his team on the brink of elimination, he pulls out five spins and three somersaults for 127.50 points - the highest individual score so far - and Switzerland (278.48) climb into third place.

But, with Canada (172.98) and China (198.28) still to come, they'll need an error from one of their rivals to qualify for the final.

We're watching to see whether this will be the coronation for the king of cross-country Johannes Hosflot Klaebo, but there is an awfully, awfully long way to go.

On 35-year-old Andrew Musgrave potentially retiring soon

Every time that discussion has come up in his career, he has said 'I'm going to ski until I can't ski'. Someone's going to have to scrape him off the track because he will not stop as long as he's having fun and as long as it's financially viable.

However, this year, the tone has maybe started to change a little bit. There are a bit more questions of how long will his motivation last.

Daniel, I like your style. I'd recommend you join the organising committee for the 2030 Games.

Chris Lillis - reigning Olympic and world champion - completes USA's third clean jump of the final. A pretty flawless back double full-full-full for 123.98 points.

USA go into top spot with 351.23 points.

Assylkhan Assan is just 16 years old.

He completes Kazakhstan's final jump and scores a team-leading 84.51 points. Kazakhstan move into second place with a score of 213.93 but with six teams to come, they're almost certainly out of the running for the final.

The men's ski cross seeding heats have come to an end in Livigno on what will be a busy day for the athletes.

Canada's Reece Howden, who won the World Cup title in both of the last two years, tops the standings ahead of Japan's Satoshi Furuno with Beijing champion and current world champion Ryan Regez in third

Britain's Ollie Davies finished in 28th.

The athletes will be back in action again from 11:00 for the start of the knockout phase.

Men's individual gold medallist Wang Xindi gives it everything for his back double full-full-full and pulls out a deep squat to stick the landing. He scores 116.29 to take China's score to 198.28.

After jump two, USA remain out in front, with Connor Curran following up Kaila Kuhn's opening effort with an impressive score of 120.36.

As things stand, these are the four teams qualifying for the second final.

    1. USA - 227.25 points
    2. Australia - 201.98
    3. China - 198.28
    4. Canada - 172.98

Apparently we've had a couple of late withdrawals in the men's 50km mass start, including Italy's Federico Pellegrino and USA's Ben Ogden.

Can GB's Andrew Musgrave get a medal? Will Norway's Johannes Hosflot Klaebo - winner of five golds already at this Games - make it a clean sweep? How many Norwegians will be on the podium?
