Comedian and TV presenter Romesh Ranganathan has wished good luck to Team GB bobsleigh pilot Brad Hall - who he used to teach in his former career as a teacher.

Ranganathan taught Hall, now 35, maths at Hazelwick School in Crawley.

Ranganathan joked: "One of my fondest memories was Brad saying to me: 'Mr Ranganathan, genuinely, you are a hero and a role model, and I am going to compete for Team GB as a direct result of your influence'."

Jane Hall said her stepson took Ranganathan down a bobsleigh run in Switzerland last summer as a "pay back" for all the homework he had given him.

Hall will be in action shortly in the second of four heats with his GB sled in third after the first run.
