Tough ask here for pilot Markus Treichl, who has just watched his compatriots suffer a crash and now has to steer this second Austrian team down the track.

They make it safely down and with a solid time too to take the lead.

Johannes Hoesflot Klaebo, winner of five golds in Milan-Cortina already, has been content to sit at the back of this Norwegian train throughout the race.

He's known for his fast finishing, so if either of his compatriots want to take the final men's cross-country skiing gold of the Games, they'll have to shake him sooner rather than later.

Nyenget [in first place] looks like he's pushing hard. I think his tactic is to keep pushing.

He's showing real class on the climbs.

There is no joy for Britain's OIlie Davies who finishes fourth in his first knockout men's ski cross race and exits the event.

Among those to go through are Canada's Reece Howden and Swiss pair Ryan Regez and Alex Fiva who will all hope to be in the medal shake-up later on.

Team GB's Andrew Musgrave comes through the 36km checkpoint in seventh place, trailing the Norwegian leaders by 2:29.2.

But he's only 18 seconds behind fifth-placed Victor Lovera, so a top-five finish isn't out of reach.

The leading trio from Norway are onto the penultimate lap. Martin Loewstroem Nyenget leads the way, with Emil Iverson and Johannes Hoesflot Klaebo - going for his sixth gold of the Games - in his slip stream.

Neutral athlete Savelii Korostelev is the fourth athlete through the checkpoint - he's 1:51 off the pace.

After a lengthy delay, the Austrian athlete has been removed from the track and the action is back under way.

We of course wish him all the best.

And this is quite a task now for the teams following after seeing one of their peers crash.

As a sliding community, we all want to see each other safe and healthy and being able to laugh and joke at the top of the track.

Nobody likes to see athletes crashing and you know things aren't right because the medics are taking a little bit longer to take them off the track.

A big crash for Austria. Yet to see the fourth member of the team as the medical team attend on the track.

This is not the first time this team have crashed, they also had one in unofficial training right near the beginning of the Games.

The mood at the sliding track has changed after that. Bit of concern for the Austrian team.

Although the heads are protected, you can still sometimes feel a concussion and dazed after taking what is 630kg on top of your head and neck.

This is the second crash this Austrian team has had here - they had one on their second day here in unofficial training. They were all fine and they're taking extra precaution.

Oh dear, oh dear. Heads in hands for China. Li Tianma doesn't stick the landing, tumbling forward once, twice, and losing both of his skis.

He scores 95.37 to take China (279.68) ahead of Australia (256.04) but they can't overtake Switzerland (296.91). It's silver at best for China.

Switzerland are guaranteed a medal. Australia face a nervy wait. Up next... China and individual bronze medallist Li Tianma.
