All eyes will now be on Arianna Fontana as she aims to become Italy's most decorated Olympian of all time.

A gold and a silver at these Games have taken her to an overall tally of 13 medals, level with fencer Edoardo Mangiarotti.

Fontana was 15 years old when she won the first of her 13 Olympic medals to date - a bronze in this event 20 years ago in Turin.

South Korea have won gold on six of the nine previous occasions that the women's relay has been held at a Winter Olympics, but they had to settle for silver behind the Netherlands in Beijing four years ago.

Jens van 't Wout and Steven Dubois finish first and second in the second semi-final... they're both through to the final, which is due off at about 20:30 GMT.

But defending Olympic champion Liu Shaoang slides out from fourth place, hits the outer padding and is eliminated.

Teun Boer qualifies as the fastest third-placed finisher so there will be three Dutchmen in the final.

Huge boos from the Milan crowd as replays on the big screen show Canada's Maxime Laoun muscling into Pietro Sighel of Italy, sending both sprawling to the ice.

And the boos get even louder as it is announced that it is judged to be shared responsibility - meaning both are eliminated.

    That's a controversial call.

Among the unsung heroes at these Games are the marshals in the short track.

One of their tasks is to move the corner markers back into position should they get knocked out of place by racers - and they have to do it mid-event.

It takes calmness under pressure and steadiness on the skates not to get in the way.

    After a short break, it's semi-final time in the men's 500m.

Five men go in each heat, with the top two in each going through to the final - as well as the quickest third-place finisher.

Japan might just be back in this. A good two in the sixth end gives them a glimmer of hope, but Team GB have the hammer in the seventh and a chance to restore their healthy lead.

    Good response from Japan.

Team GB's final stone knocks away one owned by their opponents, leaving three of their reds in the house to Japan's one.

But the final Japan shot splits the British reds nicely and secures them two points.

Again, this is a great opportunity, GB have got to play the scoreboard here. Just keep getting rid of the yellow Japanese stones.

One stone each to go in the sixth end.

Japan's penultimate effort places a second of their stones centrally.

They have the hammer so they'll go last in this end.

So while Team GB are keeping up their end of the bargain, what are their qualification rivals up to?

Canada and Denmark - who the British team could do with losing - are both narrowly ahead in their matches. Long way to go yet, though.

William Dandjinou looked very good, he's got the fastest time. Steven Dubois was slightly slower. It could be between Dubois, Jens van 't Wout, Liu Shaoang looked comfortable as well.

But there's still a long way to go.

As the sixth end gets underway, lets just remind ourselves of how the Team GB men's team got on earlier today.

It was pretty much win or bust, but they were comfortable 9-2 winners against the United States.

Now they must wait for the outcomes of tomorrow's final round of matches to see if they've done enough to reach the semi-finals.
