  1. Mertens' leg 'isn't hampering her ability to move around'published at 14:27 BST 8 July

I don't think we should be concerned about Elise Mertens' leg. If this match goes into a third set, I will start wondering how it will hold up but it isn't hampering her ability to move around this court at the minute.

It is probably just a little uncomfortable and she has just asked for it to be taped up more for prevention reasons, rather than anything else.

Elise Mertens has had to face seven break points in this match, saving six of them.

She might have feared that tally increasing at 30-30 but two big serves avert any such peril and keep us on serve in set two.

Can the Belgian make any sort of impression on the Noskova serve though?

  3. Kostyuk holdspublished at 14:24 BST 8 July

    Kostyuk 6-3 2-1 Paolini*

Now it's Jasmine Paolini's turn to look visibly annoyed. The Italian, so often a bubbly figure on court, is talking away to herself after missing yet another routine forehand. 15-0.

She tries to switch things up by coming into the net but is unable to match Marta Kostyuk's power, the ball ricocheting off her racquet and into the net. 40-0.

A brutally struck down-the-line backhand return, taken a pace or two inside the baseline, provides a brief moment of cheer before Kostyuk completes the hold to 15.

  4. 'Super impressed by Kostyuk'published at 14:22 BST 8 July

This is tough for Paolini. I'm super impressed by Kostyuk.

Everything she is doing is working. Power is her game but it's not just that, it is the variety she has shown as well.

    Noskova 6-3 2-2 Mertens*

Elise Mertens didn't really get much chance to test that left leg out in that game.

Linda Noskova dominant on serve. As she has been for much of this match really, other than a wobbly opening game.

Marta Kostyuk looks anguished as she goes after a second serve but sends her cross-court backhand into the tramlines. It's a slightly error-strewn game from the Ukrainian. Jasmine Paolini holds to 15.

    *Noskova 6-3 1-2 Mertens

Elise Mertens has her lower left leg fairly heavily strapped after that medical time out.

The issue hasn't really seemed to hamper the 30-year-old's movement so far but time will tell.

  8. 'Kostyuk has only lost three points on her serve'published at 14:19 BST 8 July

When Jasmine Paolini is able to get that return of serve in play and get the point moving, she cannot make free errors like that. Marta Kostyuk has only lost three points on her serve so far.

That's an incredible number because her serve could sometimes be all over the place in the past.

Not at all what Elise Mertens needed while trailing by a set in her first Wimbledon quarter-final.

Instead of waiting for the physio to finish with Mertens, Linda Noskova heads to the baseline and bounces around.

I’m not jealous of anyone sat in the sun on Centre Court. Paper fans are being wafted furiously even by those sat in the shade as the temperature climbs to about 32C on day 10.

On the court, Marta Kostyuk’s red-hot start to this quarter-final shows no sign of cooling either.

At the risk of completely jinxing her, that is one of the most impressive sets of tennis I have watched by a player in the women’s singles at these championships.

  12. Postpublished at 14:17 BST 8 July

    *Kostyuk 6-3 0-0 Paolini

Marta Kostyuk struck 11 winners and nine unforced errors in that opening set. Jasmine Paolini's record was 4-13.

Crucially, the Italian won just six of 15 points behind her second serve.

  13. 'Paolini trying everything'published at 14:16 BST 8 July

    *Kostyuk 6-3 0-0 Paolini

    Leon Smith
GB Davis Cup captain on BBC Radio 5 Live

Paolini is trying everything she can to get the ball away from Kostyuk's forehand, but because of the power that is coming she just can't direct it.

Her coach will be telling her right now just plug her backhand, don't give her two forehands if you can.

Even half a sniff Kostyuk is getting she is getting after it.

  14. 'Kostyuk showing she is a complete player'published at 14:14 BST 8 July

    *Kostyuk 6-3 0-0 Paolini

    Tracy Austin
Two-time Grand Slam champion on BBC One

Marta Kostyuk is trying to mix up her variation a little bit here, but I love the sliced return.

She is really showing what a complete player she has become. She isn't just powerful off the forehand and the backhand these days, she has variation and extremely good movement as well.

Marta Kostyuk is thoroughly enjoying her Centre Court debut!

The Ukrainian lets out a roar as Jasmine Paolini hands her the set with a forehand unforced error.

    6-3 in 36 minutes.

  16. Mertens holds - but trainer onpublished at 14:14 BST 8 July

    *Noskova 6-3 1-2 Mertens

Elise Mertens has to get down lower than a limbo dancer to attempt to retrieve a wicked slice from Linda Noskova - and she can't manage it.

But from 0-15, some accurate hitting and a couple of big aces ensure a comfortable hold.

The trainer, however, as Naomi Cavaday on comms suggested, is on. It's Mertens' left leg that is the problem it appears.

  17. Set point Kostyukpublished at 14:13 BST 8 July

    Kostyuk 5-3 Paolini*

Second serve. Powerful return. Advantage Marta Kostyuk.

  18. Second deucepublished at 14:13 BST 8 July

    Kostyuk 5-3 Paolini*

No control from Jasmine Paolini on that forehand - comfortably out. Back to deuce we go.

The Italian is scratching her head at the back of the court.

  19. Deucepublished at 14:12 BST 8 July

    Kostyuk 5-3 Paolini*

Jasmine Paolini is such a joy to watch at the net. She has to get down low to receive a deep return from Marta Kostyuk but quickly makes her way up the court before driving home a forehand volley from above shoulder height. 30-0.

She's pegged back to 40-30 and is left to rue another tame second serve. Kostyuk slices the return and waits for Paolini's reply to sit up on her forehand side. An inevitable winner for the Ukrainian.

  20. Postpublished at 14:11 BST 8 July

    Noskova 6-3 1-1 Mertens*

It's Linda Noskova's turn to make errors on serve, a double fault extending her to deuce - but two booming serves, one of them an ace, ensure any danger is shortlived.
