  1. Break back points Sinnerpublished at 16:21 BST 3 July

    Sinner 6-4 6-3 0-1 Brooksby*

The messaging from Jenson Brooksby's coaching team between sets didn't contain anything from a technical standpoint, but rather just focussed on trying to stay positive and keep fighting.

There's no doubt he's still got plenty of fight left. But can he consolidate that break?

It's not looking good as Brooksby's sends a forehand long and Jannik Sinner has two break back points.

It did feel as though Novak Djokovic accepted his fate somewhat after going the double break down in set three, seemingly happy to reserve his energy where necessary for a final push for victory in the fourth set.

That is no given, of course, with Arthur Rinderknech maintaining a really high level at the moment.

If Rinderknech was to land the first blow in this set, approaching two and a half hours into the match, it would be very interesting to see how Djokovic manages to handle it.

The Frenchman is being well-backed here as his resurgence continues to gather momentum.

You felt it would take something special for Jenson Brooksby to break Jannik Sinner’s serve, and it was an absolute thunderbolt of a return winner to do it.

    Now to back it up…

Arthur Rinderknech takes another tumble, this time after stretching for a backhand, and takes his time getting back to his feet. 15-0.

Two points later, he reads a wide serve and pings a forehand winner down-the-line. No such luck with Novak Djokovic's next serve. Ace out wide.

    Another brisk hold.

But he can't save a fourth.

Jenson Brooksby gets two hands on the racquet and sends a backhand return down the line. Stunning stuff.

    *Sinner 6-4 6-3 0-0 Brooksby

Jannik Sinner has received in the opening game of the previous two sets but he's on serve for the start of the third.

We talk about these mini battles within the bigger picture - and that was one of them right there at 15-30.

Little things like that happen and you wonder what might've been if things had gone the opposite way. That is the nature of playing on grass though - the harder you push off on this court, the more danger there is of you slipping.

Medvedev has found himself in all sorts of trouble. He was completely in control but Struff has just hung in there and found his way back.

Daniil Medvedev is starting to lose his cool.

He lets out a strange howl after going 5-4 down in the tie-break before having a go at his team, shouting and gesturing angrily.

After he loses the set he points a sarcastic thumbs up at them. He’s not happy.

  11. Medvedev two sets downpublished at 16:13 BST 3 July

    Struff 7-6 (7-4) 7-6 (7-5) Medvedev

Over on court three, Daniil Medvedev is trailling Jan-Lennard Struff by two sets, both lost on tie-breaks.

And he's absolutely fuming about it. Medvedev has twice reached the semi-finals at SW19 but he's got a mountain to climb - in searing heat in London - if he's to match or better that this year.

After every point he wins on Novak Djokovic's serve, Arthur Rinderknech directs a firm shake of his racquet towards his box.

Up 15-30, the Frenchman tumbles on the baseline, scrabbles forward to beat the second bounce and returns the ball at full stretch, almost lying on the grass. But he's helpless as Djokovic fires a forehand winner past him.

Ace. Ace. Hold. A potentially costly slip.

Shame for Jenson Brooksby, who played some lovely tennis in that second set and has nothing to show for it.

He’s headed over to chat to his team, hands on hips as they deliver some instructions from their spot above the scoreboard.

Jannik Sinner, meanwhile has nipped off court.

Smart play by Sinner. After putting the drop shot he moved forward, closing the court down which made the overhead volley so much easier.

He's had control over the point.

Jannik Sinner has disappeared off court for a comfort break between sets.

Jenson Brooksby has taken the opportunity to go and have a chat with his coach while he awaits the return of the defending champion.

"It's fine, let's get this set, one set at a time. Just keep fighting," is the message.

It is hard to believe when you see Jenson Brooksby play some of the tennis he has today that he went through a period of eight matches without a win this year. That was from Indian Wells to Queens, that is three months without a win.

    That is a rough ride.
