  1. Doubles watchpublished at 11:40 BST 3 July

While there is no British representation in the singles today, there is in the doubles.

The latest from the outside courts sees number seeds Britain's Henry Patten and Finnish partner Harri Heliovaara currently on serve in their second round match with American pair Mac Kiger and Patrik Trhac.

On court 12, defending champions and all-British pairing Julian Cash and Lloyd Glasspool are also on serve in their match against the all-French duo of Corentin Moutet and Arthur Reymond.

And it's the same story in the match involving Neal Skupski and American partner Christian Harrison on court 14.

However, it's been a difficult start for David Stevenson and Marcus Willis out on court 16. The Brits have lost the first set 6-1 to sixth seeds Marcelo Arevalo and Mate Pavic.

  2. Kalinskaya breaks backpublished at 11:40 BST 3 July

    Bencic 4-2 Kalinskaya*

Well that's one of the breaks back that Anna Kalinskaya needs to get back on track in the first set.

Belinda Bencic looked in control of her service game at 30-0 but then lost four straight points, including a double fault, to drop her serve for the first time.

    Safiullin 3-2 Fonseca*

Speaking of Novak Djokovic, if Joao Fonseca and Djokovic win their third-round matches today, they'll meet in round four.

They played each other at the recent French Open and Fonseca came from two sets down to beat the 24-time Grand Slam champion in a deciding set.

Wouldn't mind watching those two face each other again.

I see that Djokovic is still getting preferential treatment and plays on Centre Court. I am sure that this over three years of playing only on the Show Court. Why?

    Raymond

The answer to this question is in this article by our Ask Me Anything team.

Scheduling the order of play each day is a complex operation. It is decided by match referees and the Order of Play Committee.

An effort is made to put the best players and best matches on the show courts, Centre Court and Court One. This can present a challenge when deciding between whether to prioritise higher-ranked players, or those who draw larger audiences.

Tickets are more expensive for the show courts, so price is also taken into consideration when deciding which players go on the higher-profile courts.

  5. Double break for Bencicpublished at 11:32 BST 3 July

    *Bencic 4-1 Kalinskaya

Belinda Bencic, the 11th seed, is racing towards winning the first set against 19th seed Anna Kalinskaya.

The Swiss player's power is proving too much for Kalinskaya at the moment.

Buzzing for Venus and Serena today!

    Marcus, Essex

Sorry to disappoint you Marcus, but they're not on the women's doubles schedule for today...

Venus plays in the mixed doubles with Kevin Krawietz later, but you'll have to wait until tomorrow for the Williams sisters on court together - if Serena is fit.

One of the tell-tale signs is when you are serving, you're hitting them in the net because you are not reaching up.

Safiullin has hit a few into the net at the moment.

Safiullin recovered from 15-40 down to hold serve on that occasion and he has a 2-1 lead in the first set.

Switzerland's Belinda Bencic gets the first break of serve of her match against Russian Anna Kalinskaya, wrapping it up with a fine forehand winner.

It's another stunning day at SW19.

I've headed over to catch Joao Fonseca and Roman Safiullin in action on Court Two, where there is no hiding from the blazing sun.

Luckily, it looks like most people have come prepared. The straw hats are on, the sun cream is out and people are keeping themselves hydrated with plenty of water and, of course, the odd glass of Pimms.

    Court Two general view

And Emily has just watched Safiullin save two break points in his latest service game.

  10. Postpublished at 11:20 BST 3 July

    *Safiullin 1-1 Fonseca

Joao Fonseca has won his first two matches in straight sets, while Roman Safiullin came through qualifying to reach the main draw and then has needed fifth-set tie-breaks to reach round three.

If this one becomes a test of stamina, that would surely favour Fonseca.

Two reasonably comfortable holds of serve to start things off on Court Two.

There are already plenty of yellow Brazilian shirts on show on Court Two this morning, as teenager Joao Fonseca starts his third-round match.

The highly-rated 19-year-old, seeded 24th, is aiming to reach the last 16 at Wimbledon for the first time.

On debut last year, he lost to qualifier Nicolas Jarry in round three. Today in round three, he faces qualifier Roman Safiullin.

There's a very exciting crop of young players coming through in the men's game at the moment and Fonseca is one of those expected to be challenging for Grand Slam titles over the next few years.

    *Bencic 0-1 Kalinskaya

We're at the stage of the singles draws where two seeds can meet and that's the case on Court Three, where former Olympic champion Belinda Bencic takes on Anna Kalinskaya.

Bencic was a semi-finalist last year, losing to eventual champion Iga Swiatek, while Kalinskaya will equal her best-ever run at SW19 if she wins today to make the fourth round.

This is their sixth meeting at Tour level. Bencic won the first four, but Kalinskaya won their most recent match on the clay in Rome earlier this year.

Kalinskaya has held her opening service game.

  14. Cash and Glasspool continue title defencepublished at 11:08 BST 3 July

Julian Cash and Lloyd Glasspool are in second-round action in the men's doubles right now on court 12. The British duo won the Wimbledon title last year.

They're facing French pair Corentin Moutet and Arthur Reymond.

World doubles number one Henry Patten, former Wimbledon champion Neal Skupski and the British pair of David Stevenson and Marcus Willis are also opening play on their respective courts.

  15. Weather watchpublished at 11:06 BST 3 July

In the words of Noah and the Whale, "there'll be sun, sun, sun" all over SW19 on Friday.

It looks set to be another glorious day for tennis, with plenty of sunshine, little wind and a zero-percent chance of rain.

  17. What happened on day four?published at 11:02 BST 3 July

We have now reached the third-round stage of this year's Wimbledon, but before we get going with that, let's catch up on what happened yesterday:

    • The headline for British fans was the brilliant four-set win for Arthur Fery, who is now the sole remaining Brit in the men's and women's singles following the exits of Katie Swan, Jacob Fearnley and Jan Choinski - read more about Fery here.
    • Elsewhere in the men's draw, fan favourite Grigor Dimitrov battled to another significant victory on his emotional return to Wimbledon, overcoming 15th seed Jakub Mensik in four sets.
    • Meanwhile, second seed and newly-crowned French Open champion Alexander Zverev completed a dominant straight-set win over 75th-ranked Valentin Royer.
    • In the women's singles, Iga Swiatek continued her Wimbledon title defence by overpowering former finalist Karolina Pliskova in a commanding straight-set victory to reach the third round, before former champion Elena Rybakina put in a dominant display to beat American Caty McNally.
    • There was also history made by Alexandra Eala, with the 21-year-old becoming the first player from the Philippines to reach the third round of a Grand Slam in the Open era.
    • In the doubles, there was more disappointment for British fans with the six doubles pairings featuring Britons suffering defeat.

    Hello!

The third round of the men's and women's singles gets under way at Wimbledon today.

Later, we'll see both world number ones in action, plus 24-time Grand Slam champion Novak Djokovic.

There are no British players in singles action today but plenty in doubles, including the defending men's champions - who we'll be keeping across during the early stages of our live text commentary.

There's extensive coverage across BBC TV and radio throughout the day and remember you can choose which match you'd like to watch in full on the BBC iPlayer.
