That’s a real shame for Arthur Fery.

His serve had looked rock solid until those last couple of games and the nosebleed didn't help his rhythm as he tried to break back.

  2. Game and first set - Virtanenpublished at 11:59 BST 2 July

    *Fery 5-7 0-0 Virtanen

Great Britain's Arthur Fery seemed to have the better of the first set for long spells, created some break-point opportunities and served superbly.

But one break of serve towards the end of the set proved costly and it's Otto Virtanen who takes the first set on court 18.

Arthur Fery was asked about having to cope with a nosebleed during the recent grass-court tournament at Queen's and said: "It happens to me quite often. I'm used to it.

"I don't really know why it happens. Maybe nerves. Sometimes tiredness, the heat. I don't know. It happens here and there."

Anyway, it seems to have cleared up and they're back playing again on court 18.

We're going to have a slight delay before Otto Virtanen attempts to serve out the first set, as Arthur Fery has a nosebleed and requires some medical treatment.

It's something he's had issues with previously, including in his first-round win.

Catherine, Princess of Wales has been meeting fans on day four of Wimbledon.

I bet some of today's attendees didn't expect to get their ticket scanned by a member of the Royal Family...

Now it's a critical moment for Arthur Fery.. Otto Virtanen gets to a low ball at the net and sends it away for a winner. A first break point for the Finnish player.

And Fery nets a backhand to give up the break at the worst possible time, having done so well on serve to that point.

Virtanen will serve for the first set after the changeover.

    *Fery 5-5 Virtanen

Arthur Fery gives himself a little shout of "come on" after most of the points he wins.

A crucial point of the set now - 5-5 in games, 30-30 on Fery's serve...

And there's a bigger "come on" as Virtanen sends a backhand return into the tramlines.

But then he nets a forehand at the end of the long rally and it's deuce.

Forget the Royal Box! The Princess of Wales, dressed in blue, has just made her way into the stands of Court 18 and is sitting among the punters!

Meanwhile, Otto Virtanen has held serve to 15 and we're getting ever closer to a first-set tie-break.

  9. Fery has 'something you don't see every day'published at 11:46 BST 2 July

Fery does everything very well. He has got very solid groundstrokes. The serve isn't the most powerful, but the accuracy to get back behind the ball and the strike is so key to his game.

He is willing to come to the net, which is not something you see every day with players. It shows you how confident and skilled he is.

Another hold for Arthur Fery, who is into the second round of a Grand Slam for the third time in his career.

Earlier this year, he upset Flavio Cobolli in round one of the Australian Open. Cobolli reached the final of the next major, the French Open, last month.

Elsewhere, both Taylor Fritz and Alex de Minaur are both a break up in the first set of their second-round matches against Patrick Kypson and Adrian Mannarino respectively.

Fery is like 'I'm here, I'm confident, I back myself, I know what I want to do on court'.

Every shot he has hit has been on its merit; if it is there to respect and defend he does that, if it is there to take on he is doing that as well.

I am so impressed by how many returns Fery is putting back in play. Virtanen has got a big serve and is getting aces, but there are plenty of balls going back in play off the return.

    *Fery 3-3 Virtanen

Otto Virtanen holds serve again with some difficulty - he's been taken to deuce in every one of his service games so far.

In contrast, Arthur Fery has lost only one point on serve so far and that was a double fault in the first game.

On Arthur Fery often changing his return position...

Players will do that just to give the opposition different looks. Sometimes you do it to help yourself and give yourself more time, but if you give your opponent different looks, it upsets their rhythm.

That humongous 139mph serve by Otto Virtanen fizzed a tad too close to the media seats for my liking. That would do some damage.
