A huge roar from both Arthur Fery and the Court 18 crowd as he gets that set over the line to move level with Otto Virtanen.

He’s also timed that perfectly to make the short trek across to Court One to see Katie Swan’s entrance before she takes on Madison Keys.

After the heatwave which hit at the start of the championships last year, and during much of the grass court season so far, it’s been quite refreshing to not have to worry about the weather over the first few days of Wimbledon 2026.

The forecast suggests that could be about to change from the weekend onwards, when temperatures begin to creep back above 30C in London.

For now, though, the conditions remains absolutely perfect for both watching and playing tennis in SW19.

Plenty of fans have reserved their spots in the sun on Henman Hill before the action gets under way on the main show courts today - and who can blame them?!

    Arthur Fery is level!

The Briton strings together four straight points from 3-3 in the tie-break to win the second set, and I'd wager we'll see that volley from Fery in our "shots of the day" video later.

Oh my word, what a volley from Arthur Fery! Shot of the match. On the stretch, on the backhand, finds the line. Brilliant.

Three set points for the Briton.

Very well done by Arthur Fery!

A perfectly played drop shot brings Otto Virtanen to the net and then Fery passes him with a forehand to take control of the tie-break once more.

    Two Fery serves to come.

    We go to a tie-break.

At the end of it, Arthur Fery will either be level at one set all or he'll be one set away from a second-round exit.

Great Britain’s Davis Cup captain Leon Smith has been watching every minute of this match from the balcony that overlooks court 18.

He hasn’t shown much emotion, but he gives a little clap as Arthur Fery holds.

This was the stage at which Arthur Fery dropped his serve in the first set, but no such issues in the second - although he is taken to deuce before getting it done.

He has the chance to gamble and swing with some freedom in Otto Virtanen's next service game, knowing he'll be in a tie-break at the very least.

I love the variation in Fery's game and we have seen a full repertoire about what he can do in this match; the chip coming in, the slice on the forehand or backhand - it's positive and assertive.

It was important to win that game to make it 5-4 and put pressure on Virtanen's serve.

Arthur Fery gets the upper hand in the first couple of points in Otto Virtanen's service game, but he nets as he approaches the net and then sends a forehand wide.

A hold to 15 and it's still all square in the second set.

    Fery 5-7 5-4 Virtanen*

Otto Virtanen smashes away a forehand winner at 40-0 down, and a double fault by Arthur Fery gives the Finn some more encouragement.

But Fery sends away a volley win at the net to hold serve and he lets out a big roar of celebration.

A pivotal stage of the match coming up, with Fery looking to level the match and Virtanen aiming for a two-set lead.

  16. Game and second set - De Minaurpublished at 12:26 BST

    De Minaur 6-2 6-2 Mannarino*

Fifth seed Alex de Minaur has just clinched the second set against Adrian Mannarino to lead 2-0 on court three.

The Australian had to save two break points in the eighth game and also missed out on two set points before getting over the line.

Mannarino only held serve once in the second set, with de Minaur winning five consecutive games from 2-1 down.

    *Fery 5-7 4-4 Virtanen

Arthur Fery brings the British fans to their feet with a backhand passing winner to get to 40-30 on Otto Virtanen's serve.

A 140mph serve on the next point ends any hopes of a break, though.

Only five points have been won by the returning player in the eight games of this second set so far.

    *Fritz 6-2 6-2 0-0 Kypson

Sixth seed Taylor Fritz is cruising towards the third round, leading Patrick Kypson by two sets to love.

As in the opener, the pair traded games for 2-2 before Fritz won four on the bounce to take the set 6-2.
