  2. Fery holdspublished at 12:34 BST 2 July

    Fery 5-7 6-5 Virtanen*

This was the stage at which Arthur Fery dropped his serve in the first set, but no such issues in the second - although he is taken to deuce before getting it done.

He has the chance to gamble and swing with some freedom in Otto Virtanen's next service game, knowing he'll be in a tie-break at the very least.

  3. 'Positive and assertive'published at 12:29 BST 2 July

I love the variation in Fery's game and we have seen a full repertoire about what he can do in this match; the chip coming in, the slice on the forehand or backhand - it's positive and assertive.

It was important to win that game to make it 5-4 and put pressure on Virtanen's serve.

  4. Virtanen holdspublished at 12:29 BST 2 July

    *Fery 5-7 5-5 Virtanen

Arthur Fery gets the upper hand in the first couple of points in Otto Virtanen's service game, but he nets as he approaches the net and then sends a forehand wide.

A hold to 15 and it's still all square in the second set.

  5. Fery holdspublished at 12:26 BST 2 July

    Fery 5-7 5-4 Virtanen*

Otto Virtanen smashes away a forehand winner at 40-0 down, and a double fault by Arthur Fery gives the Finn some more encouragement.

But Fery sends away a volley win at the net to hold serve and he lets out a big roar of celebration.

A pivotal stage of the match coming up, with Fery looking to level the match and Virtanen aiming for a two-set lead.

  6. Game and second set - De Minaurpublished at 12:26 BST 2 July

    De Minaur 6-2 6-2 Mannarino*

Fifth seed Alex de Minaur has just clinched the second set against Adrian Mannarino to lead 2-0 on court three.

The Australian had to save two break points in the eighth game and also missed out on two set points before getting over the line.

Mannarino only held serve once in the second set, with de Minaur winning five consecutive games from 2-1 down.

  7. Virtanen holdspublished at 12:23 BST 2 July

    *Fery 5-7 4-4 Virtanen

Arthur Fery brings the British fans to their feet with a backhand passing winner to get to 40-30 on Otto Virtanen's serve.

A 140mph serve on the next point ends any hopes of a break, though.

Only five points have been won by the returning player in the eight games of this second set so far.

  8. Game and second set - Fritzpublished at 12:23 BST 2 July

    *Fritz 6-2 6-2 0-0 Kypson

Sixth seed Taylor Fritz is cruising towards the third round, leading Patrick Kypson by two sets to love.

As in the opener, the pair traded games for 2-2 before Fritz won four on the bounce to take the set 6-2.

I bet she has a packed schedule to attend to at SW19 today.

Arthur Fery's fourth ace of the match wraps up another comfortable service hold on court 18.

Still on serve in set two.

    *Fery 5-7 3-3 Virtanen

The winner of this match will face an unseeded player in round three.

Their next opponent will either be Eastbourne champion Zizou Bergs, ranked 37th in the world, or Portuguese qualifier Jaime Faria.

A big chance for one of that quartet to reach the second week.

And Arthur Fery responds in kind, finishing things off with an ace.

The little bird that showed up on court 18 in the opening game of the first set has made quite a few appearances since, and each time the umpire calls for the ball kids to chase them away.

And it never gets old, getting a laugh from the crowd every time.

  15. How is Wimbledon tackling climate change?published at 12:10 BST 2 July

Renewable electricity, solar powered water heating and repurposed towels and nets - here's a look at how SW19 aims to become more environmentally sustainable during Wimbledon 2026.

A serve-and-volley winner by Arthur Fery wraps up another service hold and, at the changeover, he sends a couple of racquets away to get the tensions changed.

  17. How good can Fery be?published at 12:08 BST 2 July

    *Fery 5-7 1-1 Virtanen

    Kyle Edmund
Former British number one on BBC Two

When I think of Arthur, I don't think of him getting in to the top 100 as being a good achievement and I think he has got the game to go beyond that. Top 50, top 20 - that's where I think he should look ahead.

There is no doubt he can play this game and for me is only just getting started. He can always improve from here.

  19. De Minaur and Fritz lead by one set to lovepublished at 12:05 BST 2 July

Men's top-10 seeds Alex de Minaur and Taylor Fritz both lead by one set to love in their second-round matches.

Australian De Minaur won the first set 6-3 against Adrian Mannarino but didn't have it all his own way, with the pair exchanging three breaks of serve.

The second set is back on serve after both players were broken in their opening service games, tied at 2-2.

Taylor Fritz, by contrast, breezed through his opening set against fellow American Patrick Kypson, winning four consecutive games to secure the set 6-2.

The second is going with serve, with Fritz leading 3-2.

  20. Fery holds at start of second setpublished at 12:04 BST 2 July

    Fery 5-7 1-0 Virtanen*

Otto Virtanen upset big-serving fourth seed Ben Shelton in the first round.

That was the first time he'd ever won a match that had gone five sets, having lost his previous three five-set contests.

Arthur Fery recovers quickly from the disappointment of dropping the opening set by registering a comfortable hold at the start of set two.
