Novak Djokovic has only lost twice in his career after leading by two sets but one of those defeats came just over a month ago against Joao Fonseca at the French Open.

Djokovic loses the opening two points but gets back to 30-30.

A stray backhand gives Roman Safiullin an early look at break point.

Roman Safiullin holds his nerve this time.

The Russian has won his first set against Novak Djokovic to extend this match.

A very good effort having needed the trainer midway through it.

Can Djokovic calm himself down and get the job done in four, or will Safiullin take him the distance?

If Novak Djokovic was already frustrated - he is - a net chord helping Roman Safiullin go up 30-15 in this crucial game won't help his mood...

The signs of frustration have been evident throughout this performance for Novak Djokovic.

His eyes were bothering him early on, the sun was annoying him on serve, and now Roman Safiullin's refusal to go away has led the seven-time champion to firing a ball to the back of the opposite side of the court.

You wouldn't know Djokovic was two sets up based on his current mood. But he did also play a poor third set against Arthur Rinderknech when he was last out here, before completing the job in four...

    *Safiullin 6-7 (6-8) 3-6 5-3 Djokovic

Novak Djokovic gets his serve firing... well, he did to start the game.

Then at 40-15, a double fault gives Roman Safiullin a sniff.

That's all it is, though, as the Russian's forehand skews wide. He'll have to serve this one out.

Roman Safiullin has kept fighting and kept competing, but there is no doubt Novak Djokovic has been massively distracted in this third set.

There has been a drop in intensity, he has looked frustrated, and now he is going to have to work very hard to get back into this third set or play a lot better in the fourth set.

There wasn't a whole lot of effort put into that last point from Novak Djokovic.

Roman Safiullin was in this position in the first set, we will see if he can convert this time around in the third set.

You have to credit the qualifier who has just hung around here.

    Goodness me!

A magnificent winner down the line from Roman Safiullin brings up break point number five in this game.

Another fabulous rally follows, both players are at the net and Safiullin stretches to reach a backhand volley... and puts it a centimetre wide!

It took both the crowd and Novak Djokovic a moment to realise he hadn't made it.

If she can see out the rest of the match, Muchova will face a quarter-final tie against either Aryna Sabalenka or Naomi Osaka, who play on Centre Court later.

    Brilliant from Novak Djokovic.

An ace to save the first break point but it looks like Roman Safiullin is going to convert the second before the Serb flies on and whips a cross-court passing shot dipping beyond his opponent.

Safiullin then goes into the net. Three break points come and go for the qualifier.
