    Auger-Aliassime 6-7 (4-7) 7-6 (8-6) 6-3 6-7 (2-7) 3-0 Davidovich Fokina*

Felix Auger-Aliassime shakes off his disappointment from the end of that fourth set and swiftly takes control of the fifth.

The Canadian third seed holds to love and then brings up three break points. Alejandro Davidovich Fokina saves the first two but can do nothing about the third.

Auger-Aliassime proceeds to hold to love again. Break consolidated.

  2. 'This will all be big news in Japan'published at 19:52 BST

    Sinner 5-3 Mochizuki*

I thought what Shintaro Mochizuki said in his pre-match interview was interesting. He said: 'He is going to try to destroy me, but it is my job to be disruptive and make him uncomfortable' - and I thought that was really smart.

If you're going to play tennis, this is a really good place to do it. This will all be big news in Japan.

  3. Sinner holdspublished at 19:52 BST

    Sinner 5-3 Mochizuki*

The bounce on Jannik Sinner's serve is causing a lot of problems for Shintaro Mochizuki, and the Italian top seed holds comfortably to love.

Mochizuki is now serving to stay in the first set.

  5. Mochizuki holdspublished at 19:49 BST

    *Sinner 4-3 Mochizuki

Centre Court is treated to some tennis from a bygone era as Shintaro Mochizuki serves and volleys his way to an entertaining point.

Jannik Sinner threatens, but spoons a forehand long with a chance to take the game deuce as Mochizuki holds.

  6. 'He hasn't got the reach to get his racquet near it'published at 19:47 BST

    Sinner 4-2 Mochizuki*

    Todd Woodbridge
Former Wimbledon doubles champion on BBC One

Wow, it is a big serve isn't it?

There really isn't much Shintaro Mochizuki can do when Jannik Sinner is just pummelling 130mph out into the corner. He hasn't even got the reach to get his racquet near it.

The forehand speed difference is 77mph compared to 64mph and the spin difference is enormous, both in favour of Sinner.

  7. Sinner holdspublished at 19:46 BST

    Sinner 4-2 Mochizuki*

How about that from Shintaro Mochizuki as a forehand return winner across court prompts whistles from the Centre Court crowd.

Jannik Sinner isn't phased as a couple of aces sees the defending champion get to game point and despite a double fault, he secures the hold on the next point.

It's been steady, if not spectacular, so far from Sinner.

  8. Game and fourth set - Davidovich Fokinapublished at 19:43 BST

    *Auger-Aliassime 6-7 (4-7) 7-6 (8-6) 6-3 6-7 (2-7) Davidovich Fokina

    We're going the distance, folks!

Felix Auger-Aliassime's forehand has completely deserted him and, having saved two match points just a few minutes ago, Alejandro Davidovich Fokina clings on and forces a fifth set.

Nearly four hours into this one and the end is still a way off.

  9. Mochizuki holdspublished at 19:42 BST

    *Sinner 3-2 Mochizuki

A couple of wayward shots from Jannik Sinner gets Shintaro Mochizuki to 30-0 before a bounce off the net doesn't work in his favour.

A wry shake of the head from Jannik Sinner, before Mochizuki recovers to see out the rest of the game.

  10. Tie-breakpublished at 19:41 BST

    *Auger-Aliassime 6-7 (4-7) 7-6 (8-6) 6-3 6-6 (2-4) Davidovich Fokina

Felix Auger-Aliassime is really up against it now.

After a net chord goes against him, the Canadian fires a forehand long and Alejandro Davidovich Fokina is in a great position to force a fifth set.

Back-to-back points for Auger-Aliassime keeps him in it and it is just one mini-break as it stands.

That huge forehand winner which helped Jannik Sinner escape the early break point really seemed to settle him down.

The Italian is really hurting Shintaro Mochizuki now with these magnificent but absolutely brutal groundstrokes and it's already dawning on the qualifier just how difficult his first ever match against world number one Sinner is going to be.

  12. 'Quite a few mishits' off Sinner's forehandpublished at 19:40 BST

    Sinner 3-1 Mochizuki*

    Todd Woodbridge
Former Wimbledon doubles champion on BBC One

If there is a shot that has been a little off for Jannik Sinner throughout this tournament, it is his forehand. When he is running through the centre, he has been making quite a few mishits off it.

  13. Sinner holdspublished at 19:38 BST

    Sinner 3-1 Mochizuki*

Jannik Sinner has not taken long to settle and races through a service game to hold.

Shintaro Mochizuki had little chance with any of those serves.

  14. Tie-breakpublished at 19:36 BST

    Auger-Aliassime 6-7 (4-7) 7-6 (8-6) 6-3 6-6 Davidovich Fokina*

    We're going to another tie-break.

Alejandro Davidovich Fokina is still not 100% and had a bit more treatment on what appears to be an ankle injury at the change of ends so we'll see how that holds up.

He still seems to be moving OK when he's on the court.

Meanwhile, Felix Auger-Aliassime needs to put being broken for the first time at these championships behind him to try and finish the job without the need for a fifth set.

  15. 'Constant barrage of power' from Sinnerpublished at 19:35 BST

    *Sinner 2-1 Mochizuki

    Todd Woodbridge
Former Wimbledon doubles champion on BBC One

Shintaro Mochizuki has had to absorb a lot to get to this round, particularly in that last round against Rafael Jodar, but today is taking it up another notch in terms of the constant barrage of power that will be coming at him.

  16. Sinner breakspublished at 19:35 BST

Jannik Sinner has a second serve to look at takes advantage with a rasping forehand.

The Italian top seed forces a rally next and Mochizuki goes into the net to offer three break points.

He takes them at the third opportunity as Mochizuki is unable to control a backhand down the line.

  17. 'His backhand is difficult to attack effectively'published at 19:31 BST

    Sinner 1-1 Mochizuki*

    Andrew Castle
BBC Sport tennis commentator on BBC One

Once again, Shintaro Mochizuki showed that his backhand is difficult to attack effectively in that game.

His movement is superb laterally as well, he gets a lot of left hand coming around that double-handed backhand.

When you're playing a qualifier who has won three matches in the main draw, it is a threat to be taken seriously.

  18. Sinner holdspublished at 19:31 BST

    Sinner 1-1 Mochizuki*

Jannik Sinner saves the break point before serving an ace, which is followed by a forehand winner which clips the line.

Early pressure for the top seed but he responded as you'd expect him to.

  19. Davidovich Fokina breakspublished at 19:30 BST

    *Auger-Aliassime 6-7 (4-7) 7-6 (8-6) 6-3 5-5 Davidovich Fokina

    Typical.

After all that drama and the long wait, Felix Auger-Aliassime double-faults and it's back on serve.

This match looked done but now we're on the brink of a third tie-break and maybe even a fifth set!

  20. Postpublished at 19:29 BST

    Harry Poole

No sign of the Carota Boys, Jannik Sinner's devoted fan group who support him at matches dressed in carrot costumes - something which stuck after he once ate one during a change of ends in a match.

He is instead being backed by a group wearing luminous green T-shirts which together spell out 'JANNIK'.

They're been kept pretty quiet so far, however, after this very promising start by qualifier Shintaro Mochizuki.
