Wu is dangerous isn't he? A great ball-striker.

But there are pros and cons to going at everything.

    *Wu 4-6 4-4 Djokovic

Another routine service game from Novak Djokovic with just one point dropped.

There's no doubt that Wu Yibing has improved in this match, he's just been able to find a foothold against the serve.

It is usually only significant events which can distract tennis fans from the non-stop tennis inside the walls of Wimbledon.

But there are loud cheers from the walkway which briefly disrupt the peace on court 18 as Brazil fans celebrate their nation’s late, late goal against Japan.

There’s more noise from the Brazilian fans, who earlier were also able to celebrate victory for Joao Fonseca here, at the full-time whistle.

Things remain very tense on the court as Jack Pinnington Jones gets stuck into a second set tie-break.

  7. Jones loses first set against Parrypublished at 20:04 BST 29 June

    Jones 4-6 Parry

Great Britain's Fran Jones will have to go the distance to reach the second round, with Diane Parry taking the first set 6-4.

Jones conceded consecutive breaks to trail 4-1 in the opening set and although she pulled one break back, Parry responded with a hold to love before converting her third set point in the 10th game.

    *Wu 4-6 3-3 Djokovic

A second successive hold to love for Novak Djokovic throws the pressure straight back to Wu Yibing.

It has to be so demoralising for Wu to battle for every point on your own service game and not even get a sniff when the roles are reversed.

    Wu 4-6 3-2 Djokovic*

Wu Yibing's shot selection has been questionable at times. With a 30-15 lead, Wu goes all in on a whipped forehand and crashes it off the net. It's the kind of gamble that might make sense with a healthy lead but not so much when it's still in the balance.

Nonetheless, Wu gets the hold when Djokovic overcooks a forehand from the baseline.

Look, it hasn’t been a great opening day for the Brits, to say the least.

Nine Britons have lost on day one of the Championships, while Jack Draper followed Emma Raducanu in announcing his withdrawal because of injury.

Jack Pinnington Jones is one of the last home hopes standing this evening. Can he ensure everyone on court 18 leaves in good spirits?

The 23-year-old world number 138 is battling hard in the second set after losing his opener against American Brandon Nakashima as he looks to keep alive his hopes of matching his second round appearance 12 months ago.

It is pretty clear that Wu Yibing can handle Novak Djokovic's low backhand. The next test will be to see if he can handle a low forehand.

We are watching him figure it all out in real-time against one of the all-time great players of this sport.

    *Wu 4-6 1-1 Djokovic

    John McEnroe
Three-time Wimbledon singles champion on BBC Sport

Novak Djokovic is actually forcing Wu Yibing into the net.

He doesn't look to be that eager or comfortable at the net. He has barely been there at all in this match, so it is definitely in the game plan.

But, if in doubt, make a 39-year-old run and don't try to fool him.

Since the early break in the first set there's been very little between the two players.

Wu had the better service percentage at the end of the first set and he hits the ball very, very cleanly and very hard.

Logically, Jack Pinnington Jones is going to have to play really, really well.

Brandon Nakashima is a really experienced player, he's a very good grass court player and he is in control of this match. Jack has to make sure this match gets extended into tomorrow because we do not have light.

If this is going to go the distance, it will probably go tomorrow and I think that will help Jack Pinnington Jones as the fitness element with Nakashima having so many years under his belt on tour and he's more used to playing these long five-set matches.

  20. Djokovic holdspublished at 19:47 BST 29 June

    *Wu 4-6 1-1 Djokovic

Novak Djokovic showed a good variety on serve during the first set and he gets up and running by whipping one into the far corner.

Wu Yibing takes a nasty fall as he attempts to change direction quickly when Djokovic aims a forehand into the corner. We've seen a few players lose their footing on Centre Court today - Jannik Sinner hit the deck multiple times earlier.

Djokovic goes on to get the hold.
