    *Wu 4-6 7-5 3-3 Djokovic

Wu Yibing goes big on the backhand in the opening point and sends it long. Novak Djokovic stands, hands on hips, as the cheers grow and out comes that smile again. The Serb is in a real tussle here but he seems to be enjoying it. Who knows how many more times he will play at Wimbledon in the future.

Wu hasn't reacted once to the chants on his name. The Chinese player is taking it all in his stride. He whips a cross-court backhand winner for 30-30.

But Djokovic goes on to get the hold when Wu's forehand down the line flies long.

Another line-finder serve at 130 miles per hour - and Wu Yibing moves on!

Things are still on serve in this third set.

The "Wuuuuu" chants keep on coming from the Centre Court crowd.

It feels very similar to the "Ruuuune" roars a couple of years ago, when Novak Djokovic accused the crowd of "disrespecting" him during his win over Holger Rune.

"I know they were cheering for Rune but that's an excuse to also boo," Djokovic said at the time.

He doesn't look too happy out there at the moment.

The shouts of "Wuuuuu" keep coming with each winning shot but Novak Djokovic still has plenty of support on Centre Court. The Serb lets out a smile as he comes through a rally to lead 0-15.

Wu Yibing gets the hold with an ace. There's an interesting story playing out here.

  5. Djokovic holdspublished at 20:56 BST 29 June

    *Wu 4-6 7-5 2-2 Djokovic

Novak Djokovic walked off the court at the change of ends with almost a look of disbelief on his face. Wu Yibing had a little bit of luck on his side in that previous game.

Djokovic returns with renewed energy, though, and gets to 40-0 pretty swiftly. That momentum is halted when Wu steps into the court to force through a winner.

But Djokovic gets the hold at the next attempt.

There are certainly a lot more errors on that forehand side of Wu Yibing.

You would think Novak Djokovic will start pounding away in that corner, if he has noticed.

The majority watching on Centre Court will have turned out for Novak Djokovic but Wu Yibing is winning over some of them.

Shouts of "Wuuuuuuu" are starting to grow with every winner that lands from the 26-year-old. Hopefully Djokovic recognises that they are not saying "booooo" - he's made that mistake in the past.

At deuce, Wu slips when returning but is back up quickly and lands flush on the baseline. Djokovic can't believe it. Wu wraps up the hold with an ace.

  8. Pinnington Jones' match suspended due to bad lightpublished at 20:51 BST 29 June

    Nakashima 6-3 7-6 (7-5) 4-3* Pinnington Jones

Jack Pinnington Jones' first-round tie on court 18 has been suspended due to bad light.

The British wildcard trails 28th seed Nakashima by two sets to love.

The third set is back on serve after the players exchanged early breaks, with Nakashima leading 4-3.

  9. 'Wu's well is going to run dry'published at 20:50 BST 29 June

    *Wu 4-6 7-5 1-1 Djokovic

    John McEnroe
Three-time Wimbledon singles champion on BBC Sport

There is some serious food for thought going on in this 39-year-old's mind.

Novak Djokovic is having to dig deep once again, for the umpteenth time, but at some point that well is going to run dry. Nobody, including himself, know when that will be.

He will be thinking that he knows how to play on this surface better than anyone, so this is a great chance for him.

Novak Djokovic has had plenty of success when aiming wide with his serves and that trend continues for 30-0. There's even a little smirk on Djokovic's face.

A strong opening service game is wrapped up with a cross-court winner.

  12. 'A massive hold of serve'published at 20:48 BST 29 June

That is a massive hold of serve for Wu Yibing.

You just felt that Novak Djokovic just fancied checking his opponent's momentum in the first game after the restart.

No issues it keeping hold of some of that momentum for Wu Yibing as he gets over the line for the hold, albeit with some minor issues to overcome.

    *Wu 4-6 7-5 0-0 Djokovic

It'll be interesting to see how that nearly 15-minute break between sets impacts both players - Wu Yibing, of course, had started to build some momentum.

Novak Djokovic gets both hands on the racquet and fires a backhand down the line but it strays just the wrong side of the paint as far as he's concerned.

Djokovic comes back fighting on the next point to level for deuce.

Wu Yibing, having won the second set to get on level pegging with Novak Djokovic, is on serve.

  18. 'The shot quality is through the roof'published at 20:41 BST 29 June

    *Wu 4-6 7-5 0-0 Djokovic

    Jamie Murray
Seven-time Grand Slam doubles champion on BBC One

It has been a very high-quality match from both players. The shot quality is through the roof really from both perspectives.

Novak Djokovic got through the first set based on his ability to steal points when in defence with some great counter-attacking shots.

Wu Yibing played an incredible second set. He only missed two backhands and he was hitting at an average of 80 miles per hour, which is seriously impressive.

Wu's level raised a bit there, I don't think Djokovic played a worse set really. It has been an incredibly high-level match from the start to now.

  19. Play to resume under Centre Court roofpublished at 20:39 BST 29 June

    *Wu 4-6 6-5 0-0 Djokovic

The process of closing the roof on Centre Court has concluded and there is a big cheer from those inside as the lights are switched on.

As Emily said earlier, the players will now have up to three minutes to warm-up before play resumes.

  20. 'Djokovic says his whole year is geared around Wimbledon'published at 20:38 BST 29 June

    *Wu 4-6 7-5 0-0 Djokovic

    Annabel Croft
Former British number one on BBC One

Novak Djokovic is a bit of a chameleon on court. You never know quite which mood you're going to get when he is out there and sometimes you'll get a variety of moods during one match depending on when the pressure moments are. Tonight, he has been doing a little bit of meditation at the change of ends.

When you look at the number of matches he has played in 2026, he has only played in four events and a total of 14 matches. That's not a lot of tennis - but he has won this tournament seven times.

He says his whole year is geared around here because he probably feels like if he was going to add another Grand Slam, it possibly could be at Wimbledon.

He will know he is riding a storm out there.
