This is a different player now in Wu Yibing!

There are smiles from Novak Djokovic who played some great defence, as we have seen throughout his career, but I think he knows he is facing a different kind of player right now.

You can almost see the confidence rising in his opponent. This might be far more of a test than Djokovic was expecting.

    Wu 4-6 1-0 Djokovic*

Understandably, Wu Yibing looked full of nerves when he started this match on Centre Court but his confidence is growing and Novak Djokovic will know he's got to step up a gear or two now.

Wu comes out with intent at the start of the second set and Djokovic fails to pick up a point in the opening game.

It looks like there has just been a proposal in the crowd on Centre Court between sets.

Novak Djokovic saw it taking place and has asked for an invite to the wedding.

    Korpatsch 2-6 Gauff

Seventh seed Coco Gauff leads Tamara Korpatsch by one set to love on Court Two.

The two-time Grand Slam singles champion won four consecutive games as she clinched the opening set 6-2, dropping just three points on serve in the process.

    *Wu 4-6 0-0 Djokovic

The first questions for Novak Djokovic to answer come right at the end of the opening set but he comes up with the answers - saving two break points to take the set.

Wu Yibing looks to be settling into proceedings. Let's see how that pans out in the second.

Novak Djokovic saves for deuce but Wu Yibing refuses to let the first set go without a fight.

    He'll have another look.

  8. 'Djokovic at his defensive best'published at 19:36 BST 29 June

That is so good from Novak Djokovic.

It was a wonderful return by Wu Yibing, but that was Djokovic at his defensive best.

And there is the smile we have seen for so many years!

  9. Break back point Wupublished at 19:35 BST 29 June

    Wu 4-5 Djokovic*

Novak Djokovic does a slow motion dive near the net to send over a winner as Wu Yibing is on the floor at the baseline. Not sure Djokovic will be getting any stuntman roles in the near future with that kind of audition, but it shows he's enjoying himself out there.

Djokovic has a beaming smile on his face after stooping low to hook a lob shot over Wu's head.

The smile disappears when Wu earns break point after Djokovic's legs give way as he tries to change direction quickly.

Wu Yibing drops the first double fault of the game but recovers to get the hold to 30. You can see he's having to strain to win every point - there's already sweat dripping from his brow - as Novak Djokovic cuts a very relaxed figure.

  11. 'I don't see what Wu's strategy is'published at 19:28 BST 29 June

Three-time Wimbledon singles champion on BBC Sport

It is a big ask to even walk onto Centre Court and hope that you can play up to the level that you want to, especially when you're up against Novak Djokovic.

Wu Yibing has some serious game. You can see that his serve has some serious pop, so he is going to win some games that way.

But I don't see what his strategy is, other than going out there and just doing his thing. Unless he knows something that I don't, then I don't think that will be good enough.

    *Wu 3-5 Djokovic

Novak Djokovic is finding it far too easy on serve at the moment.

The Serb extends his fine record, having dropped just two points, by sealing a second hold to love.

Wu Yibing is going to have to find a way to solve this puzzle and quickly.

    Wu 3-4 Djokovic*

    Pat Cash
Former Wimbledon champion on BBC Radio 5 Sports Extra and BBC Sounds

Djokovic is so clever and not letting Wu settle at all. There was a rally with four or five good shots each and he was like 'no that's enough' and just chipped one short to take him out of his comfort zone.

    Wu 3-4 Djokovic*

Novak Djokovic is so good at finding the corners. The seven-time Wimbledon champion opens up his body and guides a forehand winner as Wu Yibing just watches it fly by.

Wu has found his rhythm on serve now. He gets the hold to 30 without too many problems but is still trailing by that early break.

The ace bug is catching on - Novak Djokovic slams one down the middle to open up this service game.

And the Serb wraps up his hold to 15 with another ace. Barely had a rarely in this match so far.

  16. Brit watch - will there be a home win on day one?published at 19:20 BST 29 June

We are still awaiting a first British success on day one of the Championships.

The latest to fall at the first hurdle are Mimi Xu, who lost in three sets to Australia's Daria's Kasatkina, and Hannah Klugman, who was defeated in straight sets by former winner Barbora Krejcikova.

That is now eight that have exited at the first round.

The remaining hopes for the day come in Jack Pinnington Jones in the men's singles, and who is currently 5-3 down in the first set against 28th-seed Brandon Nakashima, and Fran Jones in the women's singles.

Jones is just getting under way against Diane Parry of France on court number three.

That was the first unforced error that's come from Novak. That shows how sharp he's come out today on Centre Court.

    Wu 2-3 Djokovic*

Wu Yibing shows a little bit of grit to fight back from 0-30 to level with an ace.

And Wu keeps them coming. A second successive ace puts him within touching distance of holding.

The turnaround is completed with a forehand winner into the corner. That'll do any nerves the world of good.

The fifth seed led 4-2 before being pegged back to 4-4 but broke for a second time in the 11th game.

Andreeva trailed 0-30 as she served for the set but recovered to convert her only set point, taking the opener 7-5.

  20. Wu has overcome 'scary-type incidents' in his careerpublished at 19:15 BST 29 June

Yu Wibing has actually had breathing problems over the years. He's had a lot of physical injuries, as well as his heart rate going crazy before.

It has seen him having to stop play mid-match before, so these are scary-type incidents we are talking about.

It wouldn't have been the road he anticipated when he was growing up as one of the top juniors in the world. It has been an absolute nightmare in many ways.
