One of my younger colleagues has just pointed out that the camera just focussed in on Bad Bunny sat in the crowd on Centre Court between games.

I'm blaming the baseball cap for the reason why I didn't recognise him... definitely nothing to do with being out of the loop.

    *Wu 0-2 Djokovic

Novak Djokovic makes very easy work of his opening service game with a hold to love.

I don't think he's even out of first gear yet.

This is already looking pretty ominous for China's Wu Yibing.

  7. Wildcard Xu loses decider against Kasatkinapublished at 19:06 BST 29 June

    BBC Sport Wales reporter

It's been another great effort from young Briton Min Xu who forced a seasoned campaigner into a third set decider.

Xu was blown away by the quality of the Daria Kasatkina in the first set, losing 6-2, before roaring back to take the second 6-3.

But the experience of the Australian - a former quarter-finalist here at Wimbledon - shone through in third, taking the set 6-2.

It was still a valuable experience for the Swansea-born wildcard who will return to the courts later this week, partnering Alicia Dudeney in the ladies' doubles.

It is certainly opening things up in this first game.

  10. Break point Djokovicpublished at 19:04 BST 29 June

    *Wu 0-0 Djokovic

It's always tough to gauge too much from the opening couple of games but Novak Djokovic - against the serve - will be looking to set the tone.

A battling game goes to deuce before Djokovic gets his first look at break point.

  11. Auger-Aliassime eases throughpublished at 19:02 BST 29 June

    Auger-Aliassime 6-3 6-1 6-4 Shevchenko

There have been a couple of seeds to exit early so far and men's world number one Jannik Sinner was put through his paces in a five-setter earlier today, but no scares for third-seed Felix Auger-Aliassime in the first round.

The Canadian hit 37 winners as he completed a straight-set 6-3 6-1 6-4 victory over Aleksandr Shevchenko of Kazakhstan.

He will now face world number 88 Dino Prizmic in the second round.

  13. Wu eyeing major upsetpublished at 19:01 BST 29 June

    Wu v Djokovic

China's Wu Yibing has only featured in the Wimbledon main draw on one previous occasion - losing against Frances Tiafoe in 2023.

Injuries have held the 26-year-old back over the past couple of years and he did not feature in a Grand Slam main draw during 2024 and 2025.

But Wu has seemingly put those issues in the past to play at the Australian Open and French Open - reaching the second round at both.

  14. 'He will be determined to enjoy these two weeks'published at 19:01 BST 29 June

    Wu v Djokovic

    Jamie Murray
Seven-time Grand Slam doubles champion on BBC Two

Novak Djokovic is still in great shape, I suppose he has to be to still be out their competing at the level he is.

We don't know how he is feeling though. For example, we don't know if he is coming into this tournament feeling like this is the last time he is going to play at Wimbledon or not.

I'm sure he will be determined to enjoy every time he is on the court here over these next two weeks.

  15. Who are the men's favourites?published at 18:59 BST 29 June

With seven-time Grand Slam champion Carlos Alcaraz missing through injury, world number one and top seed Jannik Sinner is the overwhelming favourite to retain his title.

That's despite not featuring since the French Open, where he lost in the second round because of a combination of sickness and fatigue in the Paris heatwave.

Novak Djokovic is going once again for a standalone record 25th major title, having remained tied with Australia's Margaret Court since the 2023 US Open.

  16. 'Motivation is a huge part of it' for Djokovicpublished at 18:56 BST 29 June

    Wu v Djokovic

    Jamie Murray
Seven-time Grand Slam doubles champion on BBC Two

This is probably the tournament people are expecting Novak Djokovic to have the best chance of winning if he wants to get to 25 Grand Slams. For him, motivation is a huge part of it.

He is also very in-tune with his body and he has probably done things differently to other players. People maybe have raised an eyebrow at some of the stuff he has been doing but his recovery, mobility and flexibility has allowed him to play so much of his career without injury.

The little amount of time he's had off the tour, considering he has been on it for so many years, is really impressive.

  17. Here they comepublished at 18:54 BST 29 June

    Wu v Djokovic

Novak Djokovic and Wu Yibing have just stepped on to Centre Court.

We saw another fantastic outfit from Naomi Osaka earlier and while Djokovic isn't quite matching that, he's gone very formal with a white blazer.

    Djokovic means business.

Novak Djokovic is next up on Centre Court to close out today's action against China's Wu Yibing.

It's the first step on Djokovic's potential journey to a standalone record 25th Grand Slam title.

The Serb is also seeking an eighth Wimbledon title.

    Sabalenka 6-2 6-3 Kostovic

World number one Aryna Sabalenka speaking on Centre Court after her first-round win over Teodora Kostovic: "I'm super excited to be back. It is a special place and it was special to start Wimbledon on this beautiful court in front of you all. Sir David [Beckham], thank you for being here!

"She brought a really good fight, she stepped it up a little bit more in the second set and pushed me a little bit more, so I'm happy I was able to close this match in straight sets. I totally get that playing on Centre Court for the first time is a lot of pressure, but I'm pretty sure she will deal with it a lot better next time.

"I think we all get nervous, it is just part of our lives, but you just have to block that part of your brain and focus on yourself. From all of my experience, I've learned how to deal with nerves, expectations and all of that a little bit better."

On whether she is starting to feel more confident on grass: "I have to say, for the first match, I feel pretty good. I rate myself eight out of 10."

  20. 'Kostovic believed she could win'published at 18:43 BST 29 June

    Annabel Croft

Kostovic looked very disappointed and she sort of slammed the ball down on that last point. She really, really believed she could win so it's disappointing for her.
