Trump 2-7 Selby
Let-off for Trump - Selby runs out of position on the final red.
And now the Jester is in a snooker - 30 points with 35 on. Swinging one way and the other, this frame.

The look of resignation on Judd's face as he went back to his chair...
Trump 2-7 Selby
Trump misses a cut-back black off the spot on 62...
There are 67 points remaining...
This has echoes of a frame this afternoon when Trump hit a 68 break - and Selby pinched it with a 70 clearance.
Trump 2-7 Selby
The world number one is well aware of the importance of this visit - looks like he's taking extra care and attention with every shot.
A very well-compiled 53 so far and just a couple more reds needed for Selby to require snookers...
Trump 2-7 Selby
Well, Steve Davis - it's perhaps too early to say Selby is going off the boil... but he starts frame 10 with a really poor miss on a long red that was very close to the corner pocket.
He'd get that 99 times out of 100 - but this was the one he missed.
Judd Trump simply HAS to punish that miss.

You would think Judd Trump has got to win the next three frames, or it's looking like curtains.
Mark Selby again, his shot choice is brilliant.

Mark has had spells of being relentless in the past - but the fact he's come back to this type of form was unexpected.
Usually a player has that purple patch in their career and that's the last they see of it. That first wave you feel free to do whatever you like and everything is going your way.
And all of a sudden Mark Selby has come back into that style. It shows how great a player he is.
As well as Judd is playing in this tournament, I don't think he's playing well enough to turn the tables - it could happen if Selby goes off the boil.

Image source, PA MediaA pretty awful mistake from Judd Trump as he goes in off trying to play a containing safety - and concedes straight away.
He needed a snooker after that foul - but Mark Selby had an easy red so Trump did not bother wasting time.

At the moment there is a strong whiff of Italian food in here with journalists refuelling by tucking into pizza and pasta.

The crowd will be hoping for a bit of a comeback, they want to see a close final.

Going a bit tippy-tappy now as Judd Trump realises one more error will mean the end of this frame.
Trump 2-6 Selby
And then Selby misses frame-ball blue!
Glimmer of hope for Judd Trump - but he trails 63-7 with only 59 points remaining on the table. And three of the four remaining reds are clustered on the side cushion.
Trump 2-6 Selby
Well he's making this break look easy, 51 and counting...

All Mark has to do to cruise to victory tonight is do the easy stuff right.
No unforced errors. And then you think the title is his for the taking.
Trump 2-6 Selby
The reds are so attractively positioned here that, with the form Mark Selby has shown all week, you really fancy him to make it 7-2 here.
Still a lot of work to do - but for a man of Selby's calibre, it's pretty routine work.

Whomever lifts the famous old trophy tonight will have some way to go to catch 'The Rocket' Ronnie O'Sullivan when it comes to UK title hauls.
Indeed, O'Sullivan is a whopping five triumphs better off than any other active player - his record of eight a mark that perhaps may never be bettered.
He won his first UK crown by beating Stephen Hendry as a 17-year-old in 1993. O'Sullivan also lifted the trophy in 1997, 2001, 2007, 2014, 2017, 2018 and 2023.
Amazingly - given that both today's finalists are among the most successful players of all-time - Mark Selby and Judd Trump do not feature in this top-six list. Yet.
One of them will by the end of tonight, though - as each currently sits on two UK crowns, so either Selby or Trump will become a three-time champion in York this evening. And, as it stands, Selby is the favourite...

Image source, PA MediaHmm. Judd Trump takes on a very difficult long red, misses it - and the white follows through into the pocket.
Nothing easy for Mark Selby but he picks out a double on a red quite brilliantly - and when the yellow follows, he's in prime position to make a big break with the reds wide open.

Judd's scoring has to be a lot better tonight - he had a few chances this afternoon and he didn't score like he has been doing all week, and he didn't get away with it.
It's so important tonight for him to get off to a good start.
Mark Selby was almost invincible in those first four frames this afternoon.
