I'm glad Hendry and Davis put to bed the 'boring' tag attached to Selby. Pulling out some absolutely amazing shots.

    Trump 2-5 Selby

The Jester needs an extension on his cue to pot said red but it's right in the heart of the pocket and with an easy blue to follow, that should be that...

    Trump 2-5 Selby

Yep, we're approaching frame-ball red with Selby's break up to 55...

  4. 'Normal service resumed'published at 16:05 GMT 7 December 2025

    Trump 2-5 Selby

    John Parrott
1991 world champion on BBC One

He's taking these very well, almost like normal service has been resumed.

    Trump 2-5 Selby

Can Selby punish that Trump error?

Well, he splits the pack of reds perfectly off the blue to give himself a fantastic opportunity to do so...

This is like a practice drill now - but with a Triple Crown title in the back of your mind.

    Trump 2-5 Selby

    Ken Doherty
1997 world champion on BBC One

A few mistakes creeping in from Mark Selby who looked almost unflappable those first five and a half frames.

  7. Postpublished at 16:00 GMT 7 December 2025

    Trump 2-5 Selby

Mark Selby is making errors he wasn't making earlier.

Admittedly a tricky safety shot with the cue ball tight on baulk cushion - but he hits it too thick and leaves Judd Trump a get-able red, which he pots.

But then, on 16, Trump misses a black off the spot.

Both players know how big this final frame of the session is.

  8. Postpublished at 15:56 GMT 7 December 2025

    Trump 2-5 Selby

Judd Trump looks a different player. Floats in a super long red to begin frame eight, the final frame this afternoon.

He's unlucky not to finish on a colour so has to make do with a snooker behind the brown.

  9. 'Two easy shots have let Selby down'published at 15:55 GMT 7 December 2025

    Trump 2-5 Selby

    Stephen Hendry
Seven-time world champion on BBC One

I always say that it's the easy shots that let you down in matches, not the difficult ones, but that's taking it to a new level.

OK, the black is tight on the cushion so he's caught it too thick, but it's just an incredible miss really.

Two easy shots have let Mark Selby down.

Arguably Trump might be the happier of the two players if he wins this last frame of the session.

  10. Trump wins back-to-back framespublished at 15:52 GMT 7 December 2025

    Trump 2-5 Selby

A 75 clearance and make no mistake Judd Trump is back in this final.

Massive final frame of the session to come.

  11. 'He's handed Trump a lifeline'published at 15:50 GMT 7 December 2025

    Trump 1-5 Selby

    John Parrott
1991 world champion on BBC Two

It was like a pint of blood for every shot and he's managed to negotiate a situation that could have been precarious.

Mark Selby has missed two blacks in the last two frames that might just have handed Judd Trump a lifeline in this final.

  12. Postpublished at 15:49 GMT 7 December 2025

    Trump 1-5 Selby

The cue ball isn't exactly on a string for Judd Trump but he produces several fine recovery pots and this seventh frame is now at his mercy.

  13. Postpublished at 15:47 GMT 7 December 2025

    Trump 1-5 Selby

Mark Selby goes for a very ambitious plant and leaves the red on a plate for Judd Trump.

Most of the reds in the open - big chance for Trump to cut his deficit further.

How Mark has missed that black I have no idea.

    Selby misses the black.

    Squeaky bum time??

Judd Trump wants the black in play so leaves himself a tester along the cushion. Misses it.

But then after potting a red, Selby somehow misses the black that was virtually over the hole - albeit from a tough angle and with the black touching the knuckle.

  16. Postpublished at 15:41 GMT 7 December 2025

    Trump 1-5 Selby

Judd Trump not able to build on that first frame won though - not initially anyway.

A long red is very close but stays out - and Mark Selby pots a long one himself.

However, in cannoning into the pack off the blue, Selby pots a red. Foul - and a chance for Trump, albeit both pink and black in tricky positions so not an easy table.

  17. 'Trump still in this final'published at 15:41 GMT 7 December 2025

    Trump 1-5 Selby

    Stephen Hendry
Seven-time world champion on BBC One

When you're playing as well as he's playing and you think 'right OK, this is 6-0' and then you miss that, that can sometimes linger as you've been so dominant and so good.

As we know momentum plays a huge part in long matches, it can switch, so who knows what effect that black off the spot will have for Mark Selby.

Judd knows that he's still in this final and he's got to keep the game face on - long shot, but if he gets out of this only 5-3 down, what a result.

We've heard the commentators remarks about how tight the pockets are, is there not an industry standard or can they vary?

    Stephen

Oh trust me, Stephen, as a league player myself, they can vary... a lot! Why is another matter...

  19. 'Next frame very important'published at 15:37 GMT 7 December 2025

    Trump 1-5 Selby

    Steve Davis
Six-time world champion on BBC One

Judd knows this next frame is very important now - to get some kind of foothold in this match he needs to keep Mark Selby in his chair.

  20. Trump on the boardpublished at 15:35 GMT 7 December 2025

    Trump 1-5 Selby

Judd Trump does indeed tidy up those reds and chucks in a few exhibition shots once the frame is secured.

He won't have enjoyed much of this afternoon so far - but he's a bit happier now.

A virtuoso 74 break - with plenty of 'naughty snooker' on the colours - gets him on the board.
