  1. 'Referee got it right'published at 20:31 GMT 7 December 2025

    Trump 4-7 Selby

    Steve Davis
Six-time world champion on BBC Two

It was a free ball. The referee got it right.

The closest you could get to the yellow meant you couldn't hit the extreme edge of the right hand side of the red.

  2. Trump back within threepublished at 20:28 GMT 7 December 2025

    Trump 4-7 Selby

Trump can't get on the yellow but plays an equally nasty snooker to the one he just got out of.

Mark Selby escapes it but leaves a chance on the yellow - which Trump pots, and follows it with frame-ball green.

What an end to that frame. Unbelievable drama.

  3. Postpublished at 20:26 GMT 7 December 2025

    Trump 3-7 Selby

    Ken Doherty
1997 world champion on BBC Two

Fair play to Mark Selby, in the heat of battle, with so much pressure on for making that decision.

  4. What a flukepublished at 20:25 GMT 7 December 2025

    Trump 3-7 Selby

    WOW!

Judd Trump not only escapes at the third attempt - but flukes the red!

Mark Selby remains stoic in his chair but man that will hurt if Judd wins this frame from here.

  5. Selby the sportsmanpublished at 20:24 GMT 7 December 2025

    Trump 3-7 Selby

Mark Selby being ever the sportsman and is checking he believes it's a free ball before accepting it...

He says it's not a free ball - it was so close - and the referee is happy to correct his decision.

It will still be a 'miss' though so Judd Trump will be back behind the brown in that horrible snooker. His lead is down to 14 points in this vital 11th frame.

  6. Postpublished at 20:21 GMT 7 December 2025

    Trump 3-7 Selby

Judd Trump fails to escape twice - and referee Olivier Marteel calls a free ball after the second effort.

It's an incredibly tight call - but TV pictures seem to show he is right.

Judd Trump does not agree and is questioning it...

  7. Postpublished at 20:18 GMT 7 December 2025

    Trump 3-7 Selby

Ooft, Mark Selby plays an incredibly inventive, delicate shot, cushion-first on the final red to catch Judd Trump in a really nasty snooker.

He's right behind the brown - and the black ball, near the baulk cushion, is blocking the natural angle to the red.

Mark doesn't get an awful lot of love but I have always loved watching him grind opponents down. Sure the fella must be made of granite.

  9. Postpublished at 20:13 GMT 7 December 2025

    Trump 3-7 Selby

More drama as Selby goes in off, while escaping a snooker.

And yet more drama as Judd Trump goes for a very risky double on the last red and it hits both jaws of the middle pocket - but runs safe.

  10. 'Gasps in the press room'published at 20:11 GMT 7 December 2025

    Trump 3-7 Selby

    Steve Sutcliffe
    BBC Sport at York Barbican

One or two gasps in the press room when Mark Selby missed that red to the right middle.

There are also one or two journalists now looking at their deadlines for copy making the first edition of newspapers tomorrow.

  11. 'Incredible miss'published at 20:08 GMT 7 December 2025

    Trump 3-7 Selby

    Ken Doherty
1997 world champion on BBC Two

    What an incredible miss.

But he got away with it.

If Trump can somehow manage to win this frame, that missed red will really stick in Mark Selby's memory. It would hurt considerably.

  12. 'From sublime to shocker'published at 20:06 GMT 7 December 2025

    Trump 3-7 Selby

Sublime from Selby. Develops the only remaining safe red off the black.

Still needs a clearance though - but the balls are in the open now...

Oh my gosh, he's just missed the final red, which was hanging over the pocket. I mean he pots that 999 times out of 1,000.

Oohs in the commentary box as well as the crowd. 44-25 in Trump's favour with just one red and the colours left.

There's been a lot of talk about both the pocket sizes and the 'Class of 92' turning 50 this week. No-one wants to say a bad word about the 'Class of 92', and what they have done is incredible, but have the pocket sizes over the last 10 years helped them stay at the top, winning tournaments?

  14. Postpublished at 20:03 GMT 7 December 2025

    Trump 3-7 Selby

    More mistakes!

Mark Selby escapes a snooker but goes in-off - bit unlucky in fairness.

But then Judd Trump not only misses a long red, it cannons into safe reds and gives Selby another chance of getting back into this frame from 40 points behind.

  15. Errors exchangedpublished at 20:01 GMT 7 December 2025

    Trump 3-7 Selby

Goodness me, that's a brave decision. But ultimately the wrong one.

Judd Trump goes for a long blue with the break on 39 - with a red over the middle bag, he knew he was leaving it up. And the blue stays out.

But Mark Selby misses a shocking blue after potting the red - and Trump is quickly back at the table.

He's four frames ahead - first to 10, remember - but the mistakes are beginning to creep in.

  16. Big mistake from the Jesterpublished at 19:55 GMT 7 December 2025

    Trump 3-7 Selby

Very un-Selby like error - he completely misses the thin snick on the red he was aiming for with a safety shot.

Hits the wrong red instead and leaves Judd Trump in as the crowd holler their support for the world number one.

  17. Postpublished at 19:53 GMT 7 December 2025

    Trump 3-7 Selby

Both players show their strengths at the start of frame 11.

Judd Trump pumps in a long straight red - but screws back so well, the cue ball ends up back on the baulk cushion.

He snookers Mark Selby behind the green - but the Jester shows his own expertise with an inch-perfect escape into the pack of reds to leave things safe.

'Touch of a surgeon', says Ken Doherty on comms.

  18. Trump avoids another 'slap in the chops'published at 19:52 GMT 7 December 2025

    Trump 3-7 Selby

    John Parrott
1991 world champion on BBC Two

It's the first time Judd Trump hasn't had a slap in the chops that's for sure, because every time he's made a mistake it's been coming his way.

The fact Mark Selby didn't make the clearance for once, that gives Judd encouragement.

  19. 'First step on the ladder'published at 19:51 GMT 7 December 2025

    Trump 3-7 Selby

    Ken Doherty
1997 world champion on BBC Two

Mark Selby will feel that was a chance missed and he's given a little glimmer of hope to his opponent.

Still an awful lot to do for Judd Trump but he has another frame on the board - next frame is so important, if he can win that you never know. This is the first step on the ladder. He's hanging on by a thread.

  20. 'Reprieve for Trump'published at 19:49 GMT 7 December 2025

    Trump 3-7 Selby

    Stephen Hendry
Seven-time world champion on BBC Two

What a reprieve this is for Judd - he would have thought when he missed that black off the spot that his final was pretty much over.

The way Selby has been playing, Judd would have expected him to clear up.
