Japan win a penalty off the Irish scrum about 10 metres out.

Can they hit straight back here? It's a good chance to do so.

Eddie Jones had been full Eddie Jones about the Irish scrum midweek, and he enjoyed that in the coaching box.

Some debut from the Connacht number eight. What a finish for Sean Jansen.

He isn't the biggest man in the world. He reminds me a lot of Nick Timoney - really robust, really dynamic.

What an introduction to test rugby for Sam Illo too. The best scrum of the day so far. Brilliant impact from the bench straight away.

That's also the bonus point secured for Ireland, so they are on track for maximum points from their two games.

There's still half an hour left for Japan to hit back, though.

Sean Jansen crashes over on his Ireland debut!

The pressure had been building and the Connacht back row was there to finish it off.

Ciaran Frawley converts, and now there's a bit of daylight between the sides.

There's an instant impact from Aki as he makes 15 metres with a charging run.

Ronan Kelleher drives forwards and brings Ireland five metres out. This is more like it from Ireland!

Illo is a natural athlete but his scrummaging does an awful lot of the talking.

Sam Illo is on for his Ireland debut. A big moment for the Ireland prop, and Thomas Clarkson is the man to make way.

Bundee Aki is also on for Andy Farrell's side in place of Stuart McCloskey.

It's big defence from Tadhg Beirne as he slows the momentum of the Japan maul and they can't get the ball out.

Ireland have the scrum on their own line.

Make that a full-blown penalty as Japan knock the ball on and play is brought back.

    It's into the corner.

The referee was on the far side of the scrum and blamed Tom O'Toole for going straight down.

It looked like everyone flopped down.

Three first cappers are coming off the bench and they'd ideally like to come on in a game when Ireland are well up in the score board and really enjoy it.

It's a challenge for them and what international rugby is all about.

You look at Cormac Izuchukwu and Bryn Ward in terms of X Factor. They're guys that can flourish in this game and make a difference.

    Japan's defence is so impressive.

You can see Ireland wanting to go out wide, but Japan are so fit and they're slowing down Ireland's ball, which is no mean feet given their ball carriers.

It's a proper test match and Japan won't go down easily.
