If you've got a sore shoulder, the last thing you want to see is Stuart McCloskey making a b-line for you, with Robbie Henshaw on his shoulder.

    That's unfortunate for Yuya Hirose.

Ireland win the throw and are in the 22.

Robbie Henshaw then has to scamper back to gather a loose pass.

Andrea Piardi brings play to a halt as Yuya Hirose is down receiving treatment and play was creeping closer to the medical staff on the ground.

It's slightly reminiscent of the Irish performance last week and it's hard to get too excited about it, other than the fact they're still in there.

Ireland have scored two tries and when they get possession and territory, they've been patient and accurate but plenty of mistakes.

So close to perfection from Ryunosuke Ito as he chips the ball forward.

It's rolling towards the touchline but it bounces the wrong way and Jamie Osborne can touch it down in his in-goal area.

    Takuro Matsunaga

Japan are back in front as Takuro Matsunaga lands another simple penalty.

It's like an old-school Test match with Japan going for the points, rather than the try attempts for the bonus point we've seen in the Nations Championship so far.

I think Jamie Osborne is a really important part of this Irish team and will be for the next few years.

    Decent clearance kick from him.

Ireland went through a mountain of work to get that try. It was the product of patience and well finished by Tom O'Toole, but it felt harsh on Japan captain Warner Dearns, who was everywhere in that Japan defensive set but still couldn't stop the men in green.

A great score from Ireland - really reminiscent of the last one.

It really looked like they were going nowhere but then all of a sudden it was a really strong carry by Stuart McCloskey and Tom O'Toole finished.

When Ireland get inside that 22, they are so stubborn and so patient.
