Robbie Henshaw has had a great game and Bundee Aki as well.

They both are hitting really hard and the result is an Irish scrum.

A good nudge, he'll be happy with that and Andy Farrell will be too.

  3. Penalty - Japan 20-29 Irelandpublished at 71 mins

    Harry Byrne

It's not the most difficult penalty Harry Byrne will ever take, but it is very, very crucial as it takes Ireland nine points clear with nine minutes remaining.

    Japan need two scores.

Make that a penalty, as Japan think they are away after an intercept but play is brought back.

Harry Byrne is going to go for the posts.

Ireland have ball in hand and are just outside the Japan 22 as we tick into the final 10 minutes.

They have a penalty advantage for good measure.

It's another line out issue for Ireland, but this time it didn't go five metres.

That was a decent platform on the edge of the 22, as well. So it's another chance lost to extend their lead.

Raeburn Shield is on the line here! Big final push, Japan!

    Lee, Dorset

For those who don't know, the Raeburn Shield is like a boxing title system where it is up for grabs in each game. Basically winner stays on (or winner takes the Raeburn Shield).

Ireland currently hold it after their Six Nations win over Scotland, and Japan are trying to take it off them!

It feels like the game is turning on its head.

Japan are going through the phases but it's lost forward in a tackle and that's a bit of relief for Ireland.

Japan win another penalty and have a line out just inside the Irish 22.

Ridiculous that Japan had to travel from Tokyo to Newcastle NSW to play a home game against Ireland! Not really in the spirit of fair rugby

    Robert, Suffolk

They aren't letting it get to them so far. This is a proper match now.

Right, 20 minutes left and six points between them.

Ireland are being asked plenty of questions now.

Tom Stewart is on for Ronan Kelleher, and his first throw is on the money.

Cormac Izuchukwu and debutant Bryn Ward are on for Jack Conan and Sean Jansen.

Great patience from Japan there. Hayate Era gets the body height right down and the conversion is right under the post.

Converted Try - Japan 20-26 Irelandpublished at 58 mins

    Hayate Era (con Matsunaga)

    Game on!

It is all self-inflicted from the line out, and Japan don't need to be asked again as replacement hooker Hayate Era burrows over the line.

Takuro Matsunaga converts to being Japan to within six points.

You get a certain amount of sympathy in the first game for the line-out but patience wears thin in the second game.

It's ANOTHER line-out mistake as Kelleher's throw is too much on the Irish side.

Japan have the ball back five metres out with a scrum.

Japan show some lovely hands, almost like the Harlem Globetrotters, to work it out wide and Sam Greene is almost in, but Craig Casey, with a bit of help from James Ryan, puts the wing into touch right by the flag.

What we want to see from Ireland now is players get off the bench now they've dealt with the adversity.

We're absolutely dying from an Ulster perspective to see Nathan Doak get out - Bryn Ward and Cormac Izuchukwu too.
