    Sean Jansen was excellent today.

I think if you're making your first start, you do all the things you want to do.

He's so dynamic and then you put him in the back row with Nick Timoney and the two of them actually complimented each other so, so well.

Twelve carries, 14 tackles, scored a try and player of the match. He'll be really pleased with that as a debut.

Good to watch a well fought game, Ireland were lucky at times slowing the Japanese ball down. That said good to see Eddie doing his thing at Japan

That's exactly what Ireland would have wanted getting that last score!

Tom Stewart ran a lovely line from death and fought to get through to under the sticks.

It wasn't pretty at times but job done for Ireland.

The cohesion for Ireland just hasn't been there. There is a lot of value in this game but when you make that many changes in the game there will be always an knock on to the performance. You don't make excuses but you add context.

Robbie Henshaw has had a great game.

Outstanding debut from Sean Jansen too. Great impact from Bundee Aki off the bench.

    Ireland finish with a flourish!

The men in green had all the momentum and Tom Stewart races onto a pass from Nathan Doak to race over and finish things off.

    Harry Byrne adds the conversion.

A great game to test out new talent, remembering it a critical game against New Zealand next week. Lots said about a lack if talent coming through, this shows promise

    Outstanding clearing penalty from Japan.

There'll be a little frustration from Ireland that they couldn't get that score albeit being a less experienced squad.

Ireland were pressing and pressing but Japan win a penalty.

They'll have a line out on halfway, but time is running out for them.

Japan are going to finish the game with 14 men as Hayate Era is sent to the bin after multiple infringements.

End of an Era for the Japan hooker (well, for tonight anyway).

It hasn't been a perfect performance from Ireland but it would be great to see them finish with a score or two in the last six minutes.

Irish wingers pretty quiet again today and Frawley making a few mistakes. Zac Ward has been on fire for Ulster. Maybe Harry Byrne should have started as Frawley not a world class 10.
