Rublev is furious right now and he is screaming at his box. This match has come to life. Rublev needs to not panic - it's still on serve, after all.

What on earth has just happened with this match?

Well, well, well. Don't let anyone tell you tennis players shouldn't release anger on the court.

Letting steam off has certainly helped Cam Norrie.

And the New York crowd have bought into this big-time now, raising the volume as the Brit fights back.

Incidentally, we don't endorse smashing racquets as a way to gee yourself up.

It has, however, worked for Cam Norrie, who gets into an amazing defensive rally with Rublev, eventually outmuscling him, although his 40-0 lead is cut down by an outrageous return winner from Rublev.

Hello. Another cross-court belter from Rublev keeps the game going, but Norrie picks an excellent time to run forward and smash a winner. Rublev, annoyed, whacks the ball into the net and Norrie flinches, before both men apologise to each other.

  4. Back under way on Arthur Ashe Stadiumpublished at 18:23 BST 5 September 2022

    *Pegula 1-2 Kvitova

Right, the roof is now closed and we're playing again on Arthur Ashe Stadium with American eighth seed Jessica Pegula taking on two-time Grand Slam champion Petra Kvitova of Czech Republic.

Kvitova finishes her delayed service game without much issue.

  5. Norrie breaks backpublished at 18:23 BST 5 September 2022

    *Norrie 4-6 4-6 3-3 Rublev

I, truly, have no idea how Norrie has won this game, but he has.

    We're back on serve!

Rublev was so shocked that Norrie just threw his racquet. He jumped, and so did we.

Maybe he needed to do that.

Woah! Cameron Norrie almost nukes his racquet and receives a code violation as a result.

That is so rare from the usually-calm British number one.

I can't remember seeing him ever doing that. A sign of how badly he thinks he is playing.

  8. Norrie smashes racquet & earns break pointspublished at 18:22 BST 5 September 2022

    Norrie 4-6 4-6 2-3 Rublev*

Norrie produces a stonker of a backhand to get on the board first up but the next one finds the net.

Oh, and in very, very un-Norrielike fashion, he throws his racquet to the floor, smashing it beyond use.

He gets a violation for racquet abuse and then, rather sheepishly, has to go get a new one.

Norrie puts his frustrations into another fine forehand, leaping at the net to smash a winner and gee the crowd, and he finds an absolutely exquisite strike cross-court to outmuscle Rublev and set up two break points!

  9. 'Relentless from Rublev'published at 18:19 BST 5 September 2022

    Norrie 4-6 4-6 2-3 Rublev*

    Naomi Broady
British player on BBC Radio 5 Sports Extra

This is the first time for about a set and a half that Norrie is able to really extend the rallies. We saw that 35-shot rally as an investment to get into Rublev's head, but it didn't pay off.

It has been relentless big-hitting from Rublev.

  10. Rublev breakspublished at 18:18 BST 5 September 2022

    Norrie 4-6 4-6 2-3 Rublev*

Norrie goes for the one-two punch - and snatches his forehand into the net!

This has not been great from Norrie, and he's now got a mountain to climb.

  11. Break point Rublevpublished at 18:17 BST 5 September 2022

    *Norrie 4-6 4-6 2-2 Rublev

That's much better from Norrie, recovering well as a Rublev shot takes a bobble off the net cord, and some quick hands allow him to volley away a winner.

He's still not all there, though, and a big, wayward miss of a forehand hands Rublev a break point.

  12. 'Will the real Norrie appear?'published at 18:16 BST 5 September 2022

    *Norrie 4-6 4-6 2-2 Rublev

    Gigi Salmon

Now we are at two hours and one minute and this is where the real Cameron Norrie is supposed to appear. Nomally Norrie would have worn down his opponent by now.

  14. 'I'm making it a memorable ride'published at 18:12 BST 5 September 2022

    Nick KyrgiosImage source, Getty Images

It may be a little stop-start today but it was 100 miles per hour action last night as Nick Kyrgios ended Daniil Medvedev's defence of the US Open title.

    The 27-year-old Australian demonstrated all of his shot-making in a 7-6 (13-11) 3-6 6-3 6-2 win in the last 16.

"I just feel like I'm playing for a lot more than myself. I've got a lot of motivation in the back of my mind," said Kyrgios.

"I've been away from home now for four months. My whole team has. We don't get to see our family like other tennis players do the majority of time.

"I'm trying to make it worthwhile, trying to make it a memorable ride for all of us. Hopefully we can get it done, go back home and really celebrate."

  15. Norrie comes through to holdpublished at 18:11 BST 5 September 2022

    Norrie 4-6 4-6 2-1 Rublev*

Norrie picks an excellent time to go out wide with an ace.

Advantage, Norrie... and he scraps his way to a hold!

  16. Deuce on Norrie servepublished at 18:10 BST 5 September 2022

    *Norrie 4-6 4-6 1-1 Rublev

Norrie strings together a couple of good points, first with an ace then a little one-two punch, but he's left rooted to the spot as Rublev smacks a backhand winner beyond him.

It's 40-30 once again, and then suddenly we're at deuce as Norrie sends a loose forehand flying long.

    *Norrie 4-6 4-6 1-1 Rublev

    Naomi Broady
British player on BBC Radio 5 Sports Extra

Norrie almost looks a bit fed up, just a sigh and a shrug of his shoulders to his box.

I don't think getting angry is in his personality.

  18. Rublev holdspublished at 18:07 BST 5 September 2022

    *Norrie 4-6 4-6 1-1 Rublev

An ace out wide helps Rublev - who has never lost from two sets up - into the lead, and he benefits as Norrie slices a backhand low into the net.

  19. 'Norrie has not found the right tactic'published at 18:06 BST 5 September 2022

    Norrie 4-6 4-6 1-0 Rublev*

    Naomi Broady
British player on BBC Radio 5 Sports Extra

I think Cam needs to pick a tactic. Are you wanting to keep the ball off the Rublev forehand, and commit and go across, to open up the backhand side on Rublev.

Also - just stay with him. We saw how hard it was for him to close out against Shapovalov.

For me, Cam hasn't just found the right tactic.

  20. Norrie holdspublished at 18:05 BST 5 September 2022

    Norrie 4-6 4-6 1-0 Rublev*

An unbelievable return of serve from Rublev rattles Norrie, who pokes an easy volley long to give his opponent another early sniff at 15-30.

Oh, that's another awkward volley from Norrie but this time he gets it right onto the baseline, and he picks an excellent time to produce two big serves and cling on.
