  1. Trevisan eyes dream comebackpublished at 15:40 BST 2 June 2022

    Trevisan v Gauff

Italy's Martina Trevisan is also contesting her first major semi-final.

Named after Martina Navratilova, Trevisan spent four years away from tennis to receive treatment for an eating disorder.

In a blog in 2020 she explained how she had to be "re-educated to eat" having "closed myself in my cocoon" when her father was diagnosed with a degenerative disease.

The 28-year-old won her first WTA title on the Morocco clay in the build-up to the French Open and she saw off 17th seed and US Open runner-up Fernandez to secure her place in the last four.

  2. 'Enjoy life and love yourself'published at 15:37 BST 2 June 2022

    Trevisan v Gauff

When Coco Gauff, fresh from her French Open quarter-final victory, was asked about her new attitude to tennis, her answer enraptured the Philippe Chatrier crowd.

"Enjoy life. No matter how good or bad my career is, I think I'm a great person," she said.

"That's a message for all the young players out there that your results, your job or how much money you make doesn't define you as a person.

"As long as you love yourself, it doesn't matter what anyone else thinks."

It's this attitude that has taken Gauff, who memorably reached the fourth round at Wimbledon as a 15-year-old in 2019, to her first Grand Slam semi-final.

Now aged 18, the American faces Italy's Martina Trevisan on Thursday for a spot in the Roland Garros final.

So, who is going to face the seemingly unstoppable Iga Swiatek in the Roland Garros final?

  5. 'I'm really emotional'published at 15:29 BST 2 June 2022

    Swiatek 6-2 6-1 Kasatkina

Here's what Iga Swiatek had to say following her victory: "It's a pretty special moment and I'm really emotional. It's great to be in that place [the final], to be healthy and play my game, it's amazing and I love playing here.

"It's easier to play matches with that kind of support and it still surprises me. When I started playing on the WTA, after my first year there was Covid and I wasn't able to see how many Polish people would come. It's overwhelming and still surprises me how much they are supporting me.

"I try to treat every match the same way and if I realise this is one of the most important matches of the season it stresses me out. I just listen to music [before the match], Led Zeppelin, it really pumps me up, and use everything to help me."

On Rafael Nadal, she added: "Rafa has inspired me in every aspect on court and off court. He is so humble and doesn't let success change him and is still the great person.

"I've seen a few games live and he is a huge inspiration not only here but on every court, it's just great to watch him play."

    Swiatek 6-2 6-1 Kasatkina

Perhaps the biggest struggle for Iga Swiatek over recent days has been deciding what message to leave on the camera after her post-match interview.

She got her age wrong following her quarter-final win, so she's kept it simple today.

'Grateful to be in the final again', she writes.

That's 34 consecutive wins for Iga Swiatek.

Just the one behind Venus Williams' record for the longest winning streak on the women's tour this century.

    We'll get her thoughts shortly.

  9. Match points Swiatekpublished at 15:14 BST 2 June 2022

    *Swiatek 6-2 5-1 Kasatkina

I really hope Coco Gauff and and Martina Trevisan haven't been watching. It's a little bit frightening.

A backhand. A forehand. Three match points.

It is almost the opposite of what Swiatek has done throughout the rest of the tournament. A little bit nervy at the start, maybe because it's a semi-final, but now she has stormed ahead.

    *Swiatek 6-2 5-1 Kasatkina

Wow. This is just so impressive from Swiatek. A forehand completes the break to love and she is on the verge of swatting another opponent aside in this ridiculous run to the Roland Garros final.

  12. Break points Swiatekpublished at 15:11 BST 2 June 2022

    Swiatek 6-2 4-1 Kasatkina*

Kasatkina is looking beaten. She has no answers.

The court rally behind her as a double fault edges Swiatek to 0-30.

A booming cross-court backhand into the corner. Three break points.

I feel a bit sorry for Kasatkina she deserves a longer match than this. She is not playing badly but just doesn't have enough.

You have to wonder who is going to end this win streak of Swiatek's, I can't see it happening on clay.

  14. Swiatek holdspublished at 15:09 BST 2 June 2022

    Swiatek 6-2 4-1 Kasatkina*

Kasatkina, on the stretch at the baseline, drops a shot into the net at 40-30 as her hopes of gaining a foothold are extinguished for another game.

  15. Postpublished at 15:07 BST 2 June 2022

    *Swiatek 6-2 3-1 Kasatkina

A tentative backhand drops into mid-court from Kasatkina and there's no doubt among the Philippe Chatrier crowd as to what comes next.

Swiatek lets rip with a forehand to take charge on serve.

    *Swiatek 6-2 3-1 Kasatkina

    Quite simply too good.

The power and placement from Swiatek is keeping Kasatkina constantly on the back foot.

There's the break. She's looking unstoppable.

  17. Break points Swiatekpublished at 15:03 BST 2 June 2022

    Swiatek 6-2 2-1 Kasatkina*

Easier said than done, of course, but Kasatkina must keep getting through these service games to stand any chance.

Swiatek is in devastating form right now, and a couple of wonderful backhands set up three break points. Alarm bells are ringing.

    Swiatek 6-2 2-1 Kasatkina*

Dominant hitting from the back of the court keeps Swiatek on top on serve. She can't put away a smash at the net but it's relentless stuff from the Pole, who is on her toes at the net to volley the follow-up for a love hold.

  19. Kasatkina holdspublished at 14:57 BST 2 June 2022

    *Swiatek 6-2 1-1 Kasatkina

Really encouraging game, that, for Kasatkina, who keeps her cool at 40-30 to hold.

  20. Postpublished at 14:56 BST 2 June 2022

    Swiatek 6-2 1-0 Kasatkina*

A nicely worked backhand restores some confidence for Kasatkina, who lets out a cheer as Swiatek then nets for 30-15.

More good point construction from the Russian, who adds in some slice to give Swiatek something new to think about.
