This break opportunity for Murray and Herbert has woken up the crowd. Court One had slumped into a little lull after a long day.

    Copil/Humbert* 6-4 0-1 Herbert/Murray

    Well, well, well.

It may have been a difficult hold, but Herbert and Murray find themselves at 30-0 up on Humbert's serve.

Herbert darts back and forth, lobbing then smashing to bring up three break points. And the Court One crowd loves him for it.

    Berankis 6-7 (4-7) 3-6 3-6 Tsonga

The winner of this Kyrgios-Nadal epic faces this man next up - France's Jo-Wilfried Tsonga.

Tsonga breezed through his first-round match against Bernard Tomic in 58 minutes - with the Australian losing his prize money for 'lack of effort' but it was a bit tougher today for Tsonga.

He beat Lithuanian Ricardas Berankis - who had eliminated 29th seed Denis Shapovalov - 7-6 (7-4) 6-3 6-3 on court 17.

  4. Nadal holdspublished at 19:37 BST 4 July 2019

    *Kyrgios 3-6 6-3 6-7 (5-7) 5-5 Nadal

Nick Kyrgios fluffs a chance in the opening rally of the game and berates himself for missing it for the next two points.

    Forty-love to Nadal.

Kyrgios gets a return right up onto the Spaniard's trotters though to nick a point back.

He gave himself too much to do though.

A return balloons long and we are still on serve.

  5. Herbert holdspublished at 19:36 BST 4 July 2019

    Copil/Humbert* 6-4 0-1 Herbert/Murray

That wasn't the most straightforward hold for Herbert, but he manages it as Humbert's ball lands long.

A crucial start to the second set.

Dan Smith: Big fan of Nick Kyrgios. Him and Gael Monfils are the only 2 tennis players who really make me tune in regardless of what else I'm doing.

Theo HV: This match epitomises why we love Kyrgios... and why he is so infuriating when he doesn’t turn up mentally

We love it when boxing, cricket etc stars show some spark and at at each other but not tennis stars for some reason. It's ridiculous. Kyrgios is box office. Men's tennis has been so boring for the last few years it's great to see Nick shaking it up.

I think we're all pleased Nick Kyrgios turned up today and put a show on for us.

This is what everyone hoped for.

  8. Kyrgios holdspublished at 19:34 BST 4 July 2019

    Kyrgios 3-6 6-3 6-7 (5-7) 5-4 *Nadal

A lovely backhand slug from Rafa Nadal before Nick Kyrgios chases up a tentative return and wallops away the forehand for 30-15.

Kyrgios is off target with the backhand.

    Now then, 30-30.

    Pressure.

Kyrgios with a crackerjack serve to move to 40-30.

And then the forehand slice dribbler into the front court! Nadal cannot get out of the blocks quickly enough.

A big hold from under a spot of pressure.

    Copil/Humbert 6-4 0-0 *Herbert/Murray

Herbert dives left for a volley, but his racquet only pushes the ball further away. Break point.

"Great serve," shouts Murray as Herbert's serve proves too much for Humbert.

Top serving from Herbert gets him a 30-0 lead, but Copil and Humbert come to the net and play their way into the game.

    *Kyrgios 3-6 6-3 6-7 (5-7) 4-4 Nadal

Nick Kyrgios gets a 0-15 leg-up into the game via a Rafa error.

Into a rally on the next point, Kyrgios goes for broke on the backhand side. And is just a whisker away. Nadal was not getting there if it had landed.

An ace, with the ball smearing though four millimetres of chalk according to HawkEye, brings up 40-15.

A limp drop shot from Nadal into the net briefly has the scent of cordite and rebellion in the air, but Nadal quashes it quickly enough.

Murray surprised everyone when he and Feliciano Lopez won the doubles at Queen's, but he struggled to gel with Marcelo Melo at Eastbourne after that. He and Melo lost in the first round on the south coast.

Could it be the same story with Herbert?

    *Copil/Humbert 5-4 Herbert/Murray

Murray has taken his cap off. He means business now.

Neither he nor Herbert can make any in-roads in Copil's serve though. Three set points.

  19. Kyrgios holdspublished at 19:26 BST 4 July 2019

    Kyrgios 3-6 6-3 6-7 (5-7) 4-3 *Nadal

Nick Kyrgios's exocet serve is too spicy a meatball for Rafael Nadal right now.

Forty-love in a twinkle as the Australian rains down fire and meteorites like a wronged ancient god.

A pied wagtail (I think) hops onto the court near the net. Fortunately for it, Kyrgios notices and takes mercy before releasing his next thunderbolt.

A ball kid chases it off court and Kyrgios delivers another service winner.

  20. Herbert holdspublished at 19:24 BST 4 July 2019

    *Copil/Humbert 5-4 Herbert/Murray

Herbert shows why Murray wanted him. The Frenchman constructs four brilliant points to hold to love.

Monster-hitter Copil will serve for the set next, though.
