    *Kyrgios 3-6 6-3 6-7 (5-7) 3-3 Nadal

Nick Kyrgios chuckles at the sheer quality of it all as Rafael Nadal pushes him wide with a serve and then loops a forehand back the other way to hold serve to love.

  3. Humbert holdspublished at 19:22 BST 4 July 2019

    Copil/Humbert 5-3 *Herbert/Murray

The break point is short-lived after an ace from Humbert.

Murray can't give the crowd what they want. His backhand return goes into the net and Copil and Humbert are one game away from winning the first set.

It looks like Kyrgios has calmed down.

He has his emotions in check. He's playing beautifully.

The upset looks like a thing of the past but who knows.

But this is an accident waiting to happen. We've seen it so many times before.

    Copil/Humbert* 4-3 Herbert/Murray

The crowd groans as Humbert hits the ball at Herbert's feet to bring up 30-0.

A smash at the net from Murray gets him his first point of the game and the crowd LOVE it. The decibel levels go up a notch as the Brit hits a perfect backhand return to make it 30-30.

He then angles a backhand volley out of Copil's reach and they have break point.

  6. Kyrgios holdspublished at 19:19 BST 4 July 2019

    Kyrgios 3-6 6-3 6-7 (5-7) 3-2 *Nadal

Nick Kyrgios launches down a trio of bruising serves after losing the first point of the game.

    Forty-fifteen.

Another big serve. This time Rafael Nadal gets it back. His block return would be an easy volleyed put-away for Kygrios, but the Australian opts instead to let it fly over his shoulder, thinking it is going to clear the baseline.

It doesn't. Is that a critical mistake? 40-30.

No, Kyrgios's back hand down the line milks an error from Nadal.

Not sure on the exact percentage but Murray has not landed many first serves that I can remember.

Murray and Herbert combined have a first-serve percentage of 44%...

Centre sighed collective relief for that hold from the Scot.

Copil and Humbert have really been able to time their returns superbly but Murray showed his class there.

    "Come on Andy's hip!"

A slight variation to the usual shouts of support from one fella...

That piece of metal seems to be doing its job. Murray is not quite flying around the court, but he is moving well and no sign any more of that limping gait.

Nicola: Whether you like Kyrgios or not you can’t deny that he is box office. Underarm serves... hotdogs... it’s all legitimate if not audacious tennis and the fact you never know what’s coming next makes you want to watch.

Lorraine Elrick: am watching the Nadal and Kyrgios match and contradict commentators ...he is a poor sportsman and his team should not encourage bad behaviour. Please do not put this young man on a sporting pedestal...he doesnt deserve it...

  11. Murray holdspublished at 19:15 BST 4 July 2019

    Copil/Humbert* 4-3 Herbert/Murray

Herbert repeats the feat with another smash at the net and Murray holds. That wasn't easy, but they're still in with a chance if they can break back.

  12. Nadal holdspublished at 19:15 BST 4 July 2019

    *Kyrgios 3-6 6-3 6-7 (5-7) 2-2 Nadal

    Why always him?

Before the game has even begun Nick Kyrgios finds a stray champagne cork landing at his feet.

He tosses it back into the crowd. I presume it came from outside the Centre Court. Is it possible to fire a cork all that way?

Anyway a nice net approach and volley give Kyrgios 15-30. He misses a big slice of open-court pie with his backhand on the next point though.

Nadal pings down an ace at 40-30 up to close out.

    Copil/Humbert 4-2 Herbert/Murray*

Murray misses a few first serves and is punished for it, going 0-30 down. If he and Herbert are broken here, they surely can't get back into this first set.

No need to panic yet, though. The Scot steps up his game with a big serve out wide to level things. Then Herbert pops up at the net and slams down the ball to bring up game point.

    Boris Becker
Three-time Wimbledon champion on BBC TV

Quite often these blockbuster matches that we talk up when we see the draw just don't deliver because one player is too strong or one doesn't turn up.

    But this one has delivered.

  16. Copil holdspublished at 19:10 BST 4 July 2019

    Copil/Humbert 4-2 Herbert/Murray*

139 mph serve? No problem, says Andy Murray. He pops it back and wins the point.

Herbert doesn't have quite as much luck with a 137 mph serve down the middle.

  17. Kyrgios holdspublished at 19:09 BST 4 July 2019

    Kyrgios 3-6 6-3 6-7 (5-7) 2-1 *Nadal

Nick Kyrgios to 40-15 via a lovely wristy angled drop-shot and a jumping smash.

But Rafael Nadal guesses right in pursuit of a wide serve and absolutely middles one out the centre of the strings to rip a cross-court return winner at blurring speed.

Kyrgios dived full length after it, but was nowhere near.

But that serve is doing a lot of the heavy lifting for Kyrgios. Another whopper, another game in the bag.

    *Copil/Humbert 3-2 Herbert/Murray

Btw, if anyone's finding the fact that there are two Frenchmen on court, one by the name of Humbert and one by the name of Herbert - a quick reminder:

    Herbert = Murray

    Humbert = Not Murray

    You're welcome.

A third break in a row.

    Quite a rollercoaster, this one.

  20. Postpublished at 19:05 BST 4 July 2019

    Copil/Humbert 2-2 *Herbert/Murray

Herbert saves the first break point as he serves, then drives a forehand forward.

"Come on," shouts the Frenchman as Humbert hits his return long. Second break point saved.

But Herbert serves a double fault and it's another break point.
