    Oof!

Brooks Koepka almost makes it back-to-back long birdie putts as his effort from 25 foot scoots over the edge of the hole but ultimately stays up.

A second consecutive round of 66 for the four-time major winner though and he is looking imperious ahead of the final day.

It's also been a fine round for Bryson DeChambeau who closes with a well-judged putt to bring up his par.

He's still in the mix going into Sunday.

    Hovland -6, Suh -1 (17)

Viktor Hovland leaves the flag in for his 25-footer but it goes by to the right.

No birdie but a par means he will be back in a share of the lead because of Corey Connors' troubles on 16...

  3. Bad to worse!published at 23:47 BST 20 May 2023

    Scheffler -2, Conners -7 (15)

Right, Conners has a good chat with the rules official and because the ball was embedded into the turf around the bunker, he gets a free drop.

    That's the good news.

The bad news is that when he finally gets the ball into play, on the hill just outside the bunker, he hits another bad one and he's deep in rough around the green leaving himself in an awful position.

  4. Postpublished at 23:46 BST 20 May 2023

    DeChambeau -3, Koepka -6 (17)

We know these two can drive the ball and it's picture perfect once again for Bryson and Brooks on the 18th.

There have only been four birdies on this hole in round three but if Koepka can pick up another shot here, he'll enter the clubhouse as the outright leader.

    Hovland -6, Suh -2 (16)

Viktor Hovland will know nothing of the travails of leader Corey Conners behind him.

But the Norwegian could well take advantage even in his blissful ignorance - he pings a cracking drive straight down the fairway of the 502-yard 17th.

Six iron into the green follows - it's a tad short but still a look at a birdie, albeit a 25-30 foot one.

  6. Good finish for JRpublished at 23:40 BST 20 May 2023

    Rose -2 (69)

Back to Justin Rose. Three feet to save par and sign off on a terrific round. He doesn't miss those.

An excellent round of one under puts him in a great spot for tomorrow.

  7. Trouble for Connerspublished at 23:39 BST 20 May 2023

    Scheffler -2, Conners -7 (15)

Uh oh! Corey Conners has tried to fire one out of the fairway bunker but he's seemingly smacked it right into the lip of the bunker and buried itself!

He's getting the rules official in...

  8. Koepka into second with long birdie puttpublished at 23:38 BST 20 May 2023

    Now then!

Brooks Koepka has just pulled out the highlight of his round, sinking from near-50 feet on the 17th green.

Great reception from the punters round that hole - a far cry from that smattering of boos we heard on the first tee earlier.

They're equally generous with Bryson DeChambeau who has a testy 11-footer to save par.

He pumps his fist as his ball drops.

  9. Block partypublished at 23:36 BST 20 May 2023

Michael Block deserves his own entry for his finishing hole today.

The 46-year-old Californian is on the front edge of the 18th green in two. Two putts for a par.

Is he going to do it in one? The crowd are willing this putt in from around 20 feet. Not happening. Two ball revolutions short.

That's a tap-in par though and he's in the top 10 going into Sunday.

  10. Postpublished at 23:34 BST 20 May 2023

    Rose -2 (17)

    Justin RoseImage source, Getty Images

Justin Rose is back in the rough off the 18th tee. No chance of chasing a pin that is tucked front and right from there. His ball does make it on to the green. But it's a safe effort, trundling up to the back of the putting surface.

It's a 43-foot putt - with a make percentage of four... a big right-to-left borrow too, around six feet. The ball wanders by on the high side, three feet long.

  11. Postpublished at 23:32 BST 20 May 2023

    Hovland -6, Suh -2 (16)

It was a good lie in the rough for Viktor Hovland and he makes up for his error off the tee with a nice recovery on to the 16th green.

Outside chance of birdie at around 25 feet.

His playing partner Justin Suh has been quiet, having started the round on -3, but he's still clinging on in there.

  12. Postpublished at 23:32 BST 20 May 2023

    DeChambeau -3, Koepka -5 (16)

Well, they were in good position, but neither Bryson DeChambeau or Brooks Koepka have made the most of their fine tee shots.

DeChambeau's skewed his approach out right and into the chunky rough that flanks the 17th green.

Meanwhile, Koepka's seven-iron did not carry as he hoped and he'll have to putt from the front.

  13. Nice birdie for Connerspublished at 23:31 BST 20 May 2023

    Scheffler -2, Conners -7 (15)

Conners fires a dart in to the par-three 15th green and he makes no mistake this time with a nine-footer dropping to put him into the solo lead.

Scheffler puts his tee shot in the sand, but it's a nice escape and he makes it from three feet to par, which is important as he'd hate to give a shot back after waiting all day for his first birdie.

  14. Koepka 'more than happy to stand up and be counted'published at 23:28 BST 20 May 2023

    DeChambeau -3, Koepka -5 (16)

    Zane Scotland
Former European Tour player on BBC Radio 5 Live

Brooks Koepka's tee-to-green has been very good today. He's given himself a lot of chances and has got a good round going.

He seems very Koepka-major championships business-like with a real steely look in his eyes.

Yes, it didn't work at The Masters and just got away from him.

But looking down the leaderboard, he's the guy that's more than happy to stand up and be counted and he's back believing he can win these.

  15. Postpublished at 23:28 BST 20 May 2023

    Hovland -6, Suh -2 (15)

First poor tee shot in some time from Viktor Hovland as the joint leader goes wide left into the rough on 16.

  16. Postpublished at 23:27 BST 20 May 2023

    DeChambeau -3, Koepka -5 (16)

Only five birdies on the 17th so far today but Brooks Koepka and Bryson DeChambeau have kicked their penultimate hole off in style.

Two drives boomed down the fairway, trees left in their slipstream - both players are in good shape to attack the green.

  17. Bogey for Rosepublished at 23:25 BST 20 May 2023

    Rose -2, Block E (17)

A second bogey on the back nine for Justin Rose after he fails to land his 17-footer for par.

Michael Block rolls his lengthy birdie try up to four feet and calmly slots home. He needs a par up the last for a third successive round of level par 70.

  18. Postpublished at 23:24 BST 20 May 2023

    DeChambeau -3, Koepka -5 (16)

A brief look of disappointment crosses Brooks Koepka's face as his birdie attempt screws just off target.

As they say though, he's getting into the right positions to score.

It's also a decent fist from distance for Bryson DeChambeau as he scoots his putt up close to the hole. Par.

  19. Birdie, at last!published at 23:23 BST 20 May 2023

    Scheffler -2, Conners -6 (14)

Scheffler finally finds a putt as he converts from 12 feet for his first birdie of the day - on his 14th hole! Some relief at last from the grind at Oak Hill.

It's a 13th par out of 14 holes today for Conners who remains in a tie for the lead and, at least on the outside, doesn't look to weighed down by the pressure of leading a major.

  20. Postpublished at 23:23 BST 20 May 2023

    Hovland -6, Suh -2 (14)

Losing count of the missed birdie chances Viktor Hovland has passed up now.

He's still in a great position but hasn't quite taken advantage of some excellent tee-to-green play.

A 15-footer is always heading left and leaves a little nervy one for par but he gets it.

The arm-wrestle with co-leader Corey Conners goes on.
