  1. First birdie of the day for McIlroypublished at 21:29 BST 20 June 2021

    Henley -5, McIlroy -4 (4)

    Here. We. Go.

McIlroy is OFF. His putt curves round the green from left to right, covering 35ft before dropping into the hole. Stuff of champions.

He is one off the leaders. It's a par for Henley.

  2. Leaderboardpublished at 21:26 BST 20 June 2021

    -4 Hughes (2)

  3. Postpublished at 21:26 BST 20 June 2021

    Henley -5, McIlroy -3 (3)

Rory McIlroy's tee shot on the fourth went into the rough over on the right, but his second shot is a beauty and he's on the green on the par four.

It will be a 35ft putt for birdie. Russell Henley is on the green in two as well.

  4. 10-man play-off?published at 21:26 BST 20 June 2021

It's pretty tight, admittedly. This might be a push, though..

  5. Bryson stays two backpublished at 21:24 BST 20 June 2021

    DeChambeau -3 (4)

Bryson DeChambeau gets a bit of outrageously good fortune on the par-four fourth.

No surprise to find him in the rough off the tee and his second shot is staying right and looking set to land in more cabbage.

But it catches a mound and wildly kicks left, catching a ridge on the green and feeding down to within 15 feet of the hole.

The putt is a left-to-righter down the hill. He borrows an inch too much. Another par.

  6. Back-to-back birdies for Koepkapublished at 21:24 BST 20 June 2021

    Koepka -3 (9)

Would like to apologise to Brooks Koepka for saying he was running out of time to make something happen.

The two-time winner has all the time in the world apparently. He makes a second birdie in a row on the ninth after a superb chip on from the rough. Two off the leaders.

  7. Postpublished at 21:24 BST 20 June 2021

    Oosthuizen -5, Hughes -4 (2)

Louis Oosthuizen grimaces as he sends his birdie opportunity just off target, it started right and never really threatened to break as it needed to.

A par, though, and the South African stays a shot ahead of the field. Mackenzie Hughes makes par too.

  8. Birdie for Henley, par for McIlroypublished at 21:21 BST 20 June 2021

    Henley -5, McIlroy -3 (3)

Phew. Russell Henley makes his straightforward birdie putt and shares the lead once more.

Rory McIlroy is still trundling along after making par. Not everybody is happy with his fashion choice.

  9. Birdie chance for leader Louispublished at 21:19 BST 20 June 2021

    Oosthuizen -5, Hughes -4 (1)

Louis Oosthuizen began the round as co-leader and he's already out on his own after one.

The South African can stretch his lead to two if he holes a 15-footer on the second after a brilliant bunker shot from the left of the fairway.

  11. Birdie for Brookspublished at 21:14 BST 20 June 2021

    Koepka -2 (8)

Brooks Koepka is running out of time to make something happen, but he's still moving in the right direction.

A birdie on the par-three eighth puts him three off the lead.

  12. Bogey for Rahm, birdie for Wolffpublished at 21:13 BST 20 June 2021

    Rahm -3, Wolff -2

Annoying for Jon Rahm after that magical save on the third, as he bogeys the next.

A little chip on to the green is left short and a tricky left to right putt stays wide.

Matthew Wolff, though, gets back the shot he dropped earlier. Such a tight leaderboard.

  13. Postpublished at 21:13 BST 20 June 2021

    Henley -4, McIlroy -3 (2)

Rory is straight back at it on the third. His tee shot lands in line with the pin at the back of the green. He'll have 30ft to go if he wants a birdie.

Russell Henley lands in front of the flag instead and his ball curves its way towards the hole. If he can't make a birdie from that...

  14. Leaderboardpublished at 21:12 BST 20 June 2021

    -5 Oosthuizen (1)

    -4 Henley (2), Hughes (1)

    -3 Morikawa (4), Rahm (4), DeChambeau (3), McIlroy (2)

    Selected:

    -2 Thomas (8), Koepka (8), D Johnson (4), Scheffler (3)

  15. McIlroy misses birdie chancepublished at 21:11 BST 20 June 2021

    Henley -4, McIlroy -3 (2)

Ouch. Rory McIlroy mis-judges his birdie putt entirely and the green takes his ball way right. That is going to nudge him mentally surely.

Russell Henley has a go at a birdie putt too to get his share of the lead back, but it stays left.

Pars for both in the end.

  16. Oosthuizen leads outright after Hughes bogeypublished at 21:10 BST 20 June 2021

    Oosthuizen -5, Hughes -4

Mackenzie Hughes pays the price for that poor approach on the first, his chip on to the green falling well short and leaving a tricky par putt that he sent wide right.

No such trouble for Louis Oosthuizen, who pounces on the bogeys for Hughes and Russell Henley to lead outright by holding par.

  17. Scheffler birdiepublished at 21:08 BST 20 June 2021

    DeChambeau -3, Scheffler -2 (3)

It's not all about brawn you know.

Bruson DeChambeau is out with an eight iron on the 200-yard par-three third. His ball finds the centre of the green but wanders off down a slope to the right.

Scottie Scheffler selects a six-iron and punches it to a couple of feet. Birdie time.

Two putts and a par for Bryson.

  18. Postpublished at 21:06 BST 20 June 2021

    Henley -4, McIlroy -3 (1)

Smooth and straight from Rory with his second shot on the second. That will be an 8ft putt left to right for the birdie.

  19. Not bad from Mackenzie, eh?published at 21:03 BST 20 June 2021

    Hughes -5

  20. Birdies for Johnson and Morikawapublished at 21:03 BST 20 June 2021

    Johnson -2, Morikawa -3 (4)

Dustin Johnson is at the party now.

He birdied the par-four fourth with a curving left-to-right effort. Beautiful.

Collin Morikawa has a much simpler putt for his birdie and is now two off the lead.
