    MacIntyre -1, Finau -3 (3)

Robert MacIntyre appears to still be settling in to his final round. He doesn't quite time his tee shot and finds himself with a trickier approach than expected into the third green.

He lands his approach fine but a long way from the pin to end up with a par.

His playing partner Tony Finau fares no better scrambling to save face after catching a delicate wedge on a little thin and playing right through the green.

    Spieth -5, Harman -4 (F)

Jordan Spieth can relate to the trials and tribulations of leading the Masters.

This year, the 2015 champion is six shots behind Matsuyama after wiping out that opening bogey with a birdie on the second.

    Matsuyama -11, Schauffele -7 (19:40 BST)

Matsuyama picks his gap and aims to punch an iron through it to safety.

Not sure he has knocked it where he intended. Think he was aiming to the left of the furthest tree, but the ball flies to the right of it.

Either way, he is relieved to be back out and has a short knock to the pin.

  4. Birdie-birdie start for Zalatorispublished at 19:51 BST 11 April 2021

    Zalatoris -9, Conners -7 (2)

Aggressive from Will Zalatoris, looking to guide one right at the pin from 264 yards, but it doesn't quite have the legs and drops into a bunker guarding the front of the second green.

No bother for the young American, he splashes out of the sand superbly and lands his bunker shot eight feet to the left of the flag.

This start could be about to get even better... another birdie! He's within two strokes of the lead and probably isn't aware Hideki Matsuyama is in trouble behind him.

Corey Conners finds the green with his approach and two-putts for a birdie of his own to climb back to seven under. Game on.

  5. Rose's unwanted startpublished at 19:49 BST 11 April 2021

    Rose -6, Leishman -6 (1)

Justin Rose's challenge is under way but not in the way he would have wanted as he collects an unwanted bogey on the first.

Both he and playing partner Marc Leishman drift left with their approach into the pin and are punished, with both missing similar par-saving putts from eight-nine feet after chipping on.

  6. Postpublished at 19:48 BST 11 April 2021

    Matsuyama -11, Schauffele -7 (19:40 BST)

Matsuyama fiddles with his fingers as he strides towards his ball. We see it has ended up on the pines, seemingly with a gap for him to aim at.

Will Zalatoris has already gained one shot on him, meaning a bogey or worse here would see that overnight four-shot lead eroded even further within minutes of the leaders going out.

  7. Postpublished at 19:45 BST 11 April 2021

    Matsuyama -11, Schauffele -7 (19:40 BST)

While Matsuyama makes the worst possible start, there is no such problem for Xander Schauffele. The American world number six knocks his opening drive down the middle.

  8. Postpublished at 19:43 BST 11 April 2021

    Matsuyama -11, Schauffele -7 (19:40 BST)

Hideki Matsuyama is ready to go. As is, presumably, the majority of Japan, who will be waking up at 3:30am on Monday morning to watch their man.

The leader tips his cap to all sides of the tee-box, swings his three-wood a couple of times and then steps up to his ball.

A grimace and a hand coming off the shaft seconds after contact is not a good sign. There is a silence. Eventually we see his ball clatter into the trees on the right.

Turns out there were nerves lurking underneath for the Japanese's calm exterior...

  9. Postpublished at 19:41 BST 11 April 2021

    Zalatoris -8, Conners -6 (1)

On to the par-five second for Will Zalatoris, and he finds the middle of the fairway with a 323-yard drive. Still 264 into the pin, but that's another nerve-settler.

Corey Conners picks out a similar spot, the Canadian coming up just shy of a bunker that would have made it very difficult to attack the green with his second.

  10. Postpublished at 19:41 BST 11 April 2021

    MacIntyre -1, Finau -3 (2)

Scotland's Robert MacIntyre looks to atone for his bogey on the first but again finds the sand.

That means he ends up with an 88-foot putt for a birdie and he does well to emerge with a par after judging his first effort down the slope to perfection.

Regulation stuff from Tony Finau so far. The American has started with two pars.

  11. DeChambeau's Masters ending with a whimperpublished at 19:38 BST 11 April 2021

    DeChambeau +5 (15)

When Bryson DeChambeau claimed that Augusta National should be a par 68 for him, rather than the 72 that it is, it was, he reasoned, because he should be able to play all four par-five holes in four shots.

The plan worked on the 13th today, In fact, he had an eagle three.

But, sadly the other three par fives have bitten back. The second was played in five but he bogeyed the eighth and has just had a double-bogey seven on the 15th after finding the pond guarding the green with his second shot and then three-putting when he did get on the green.

The Scientist will be heading back to the lab.

  12. 'I sat in my car'published at 19:37 BST 11 April 2021

    Matsuyama -11, Schauffele -7 (19:40 BST)

So what sparked Matsuyama's upturn? Did he do something particularly inspiring during the enforced break to mentally reset?

"I spent the hour just sitting in my car looking at my cell phone," he said.

"Before the horn blew I didn't hit a very good drive (on the 11th), but after the horn blew for the restart, I hit practically every shot exactly how I wanted to."

Third day of a golf tournament is known as 'Moving Day' - and it was Matsuyama who moved the furthest yesterday.

The 29-year-old Japanese player hit 69 and 71 in his opening two rounds, but soared to the top of the leaderboard with a brilliant 65 yesterday.

His round was steady but not spectacular until the hour-long break forced by a thunderstorm over Augusta.

Resuming on the 10th, Matsuyama hit birdies on 11 and 12, followed by an eagle on 15 to move into the lead.

More birdies on 16 and 17 capped a remarkable spell for the world number 25 and ensured he would be leading the Masters going into today.

  14. Birdie for Zalatorispublished at 19:34 BST 11 April 2021

    Zalatoris -8, Conners -6 (1)

What a start for Will Zalatoris!

The Masters debutant flies out of the blocks to close the gap on leader Hideki Matsuyama to three shots with a birdie at the first.

It's a wonderful putt from the 24-year-old, technically still a Korn Ferry Tour player, rolling it into the cup at some pace from 24 feet. That was right on the money.

  15. Postpublished at 19:31 BST 11 April 2021

    Matsuyama -11, Schauffele -7 (19:40 BST)

The buggy giving Hideki Matsuyama a lift has stopped off, naturally, at the putting green.

The Japanese is smiling and looks calm as he warms up with the putter.

Ten minutes until steps on the first tee for the most important round of his life.

  16. Postpublished at 19:29 BST 11 April 2021

    Rose -7, Leishman -7 (19:30 BST)

    Justin RoseImage source, Getty Images

Justin Rose, the 2013 US Open champion and a two-time Masters runner-up, is trying to become only the third Englishman to capture the green jacket after three-time winner Nick Faldo and Danny Willett in 2016.

Faldo of course famously triumphed in 1996, posting a 67, the lowest round of the day, after trailing Greg Norman by four strokes at the start of Sunday.

And Rose may need to produce something similar and hope the pressure gets to his rivals near the top of the leaderboard.

  17. Postpublished at 19:29 BST 11 April 2021

    Zalatoris -7, Conners -6 (19:20 BST)

Corey Conners' wedge into the green just sticks on the edge of the smooth stuff, leaving him a long putt for birdie.

But what about that from Will Zalatoris, he lashes out of the semi-rough and watches his effort hop along the green to 24 feet. Was a tricky approach from there.

  18. Bogey for Spiethpublished at 19:26 BST 11 April 2021

    Spieth -4, Harman -4 (1)

Up ahead on the first green... Spieth makes a good fist of his tricky putt up the hole, leaving him with an eight-foot putt to save par.

Harman controls his downhill birdie putt to leave him with what is a routine finish for par.

Spieth, knowing the importance of starting Sunday with a par, pushes his second putt to the right lip and cards a far-from-ideal bogey.

Really, he needed a start like Jon Rahm...

  19. Rahm's fast startpublished at 19:25 BST 11 April 2021

Spain's Jon Rahm has been solid rather than spectacular this week.

But he made a flying start to his final round with a birdie at the first and an eagle at the second.

He's up into a tie for ninth at the moment just off our leaderboard on three under par.

Paul Casey is three under through 16 to move to one over for the championship, while fellow Englishmen and playing partners, Tyrell Hatton and Ian Poulter, are two under through 14, to leave them one over for the tournament.

Matt Wallace, who is one shot better off overall is level today as are Matthew Fitzpatrick and Tommy Fleetwood, who are both one over par overall.

Two-time winner Jose Maria Olazabal finished at eight over for the Championship a little earlier.

  20. Bogey for MacIntyrepublished at 19:23 BST 11 April 2021

    MacIntyre -1, Finau -3 (1)

A bogey on the first is not a good start for Robert MacIntyre.

The Scot was always struggling after finding the left hand bunker with his approach into the green and saw a nine-footer to save par drift past.
