    Matsuyama -11, Schauffele -8 (2)

Matsuyama studiously analyses his yardage book, then checks the wind by throwing up a tuft of grass.

With the pin tucked into the bottom left of the green today, he has 116 yards to go.

He's taking his time, moving away from the ball as he is not fully comfortable. This needs to be precise... it's not. Matsuyama has gone over the flag and over the back.

  2. Rose & Leishman drop backpublished at 20:23 BST 11 April 2021

    Rose -6, Leishman -6 (3)

Justin Rose looks to the Augusta skies again. He fancied himself to save par then but sees an eight-foot putt lip out.

That's his punishment for going for the narrow strip of green where the flag is located and seeing his ball skip off the firm putting surface.

Same approach and same result for Marc Leishman, who also drops back a stroke.

    Matsuyama -11, Schauffele -8 (2)

Still Schauffele's honour. The American pushes a 317-yard drive to the right of the fairway, before Matsuyama opts for a more conservative approach on the 450-yard par four.

The leader goes with an iron, knocking it 231 yards to leave a controlled wedge to the pin.

Interesting tactic. Let's see if that pays off...

  4. Postpublished at 20:19 BST 11 April 2021

    Zalatoris -8, Conners -7 (4)

Will Zalatoris made a fast start, as seen here, but has since dropped a shot.

He's made a par on the par-three fourth though to steady the ship, and remains three off the pace set by Hideki Matsuyama.

Corey Conners also makes par to stay four back.

  5. Postpublished at 20:17 BST 11 April 2021

    Spieth -5, Harman -3 (4)

No further progress towards the top for Jordan Spieth since we last checked in with the 2015 champion.

A couple of pars on three and four keep him at five under. Brian Harman, the man walking around with Spieth this afternoon, has dropped back to three under after a bogey on the fourth.

  6. Postpublished at 20:16 BST 11 April 2021

    MacIntyre -1, Finau -2 (5)

Pars all round. Neither player has quite found their rhythm with their iron play yet.

  7. 'I am happy to break 70 at Augusta'published at 20:15 BST 11 April 2021

    Hatton -1 (F)

Here's England's Tyrrell Hatton, after a 68 that leaves him at one under for the tournament: "It's fairly tricky out there, a bit softer than the last few days and the wind is making it interesting - you have to pick your moments.

"I am very happy to finish off with that round and finally break 70 at Augusta. I should hope it's my best finish, as I'll be devastated if I manage to drop another 30 places... I don't feel the golf course suits me that well but I will take confidence from that round today."

  9. Bogey for Finaupublished at 20:13 BST 11 April 2021

    MacIntyre -1, Finau -2 (4)

Robert MacIntyre has not really had a proper look at a birdie yet today.

And that continues on the 240-yard par-three fourth. He negotiates the front right and front left bunkers without any problem but gives himself a 37-foot putt for birdie before taking his par.

Tony Finau isn't as fortunate, finding the sand and seeing his splash out trickle away down the slope to give him two putts for bogey.

  10. Birdies for Matsuyama and Schauffelepublished at 20:12 BST 11 April 2021

    Matsuyama -11, Schauffele -8 (2)

Matsuyama's ball is lying on an uphill slope in the sand and he has little green to work with. Not easy, but he plays it beautifully.

A smart splash out leaves a birdie putt inside a foot... straight down. That wipes out the bogey on the first and should settle the overnight leader's nerves.

Schauffele follows suit from an even trickier spot in the bunker, going up and down for his four.

  11. Postpublished at 20:09 BST 11 April 2021

    Matsuyama -10, Schauffele -7 (1)

Back to the second fairway where Matsuyama is sizing up his next shot on the reachable par five. Always a decent chance of a birdie - or better - here. Unless you stick your second into the bunker on the right of the green, which is what Matsuyama does.

Schauffele, about 30 yards further forward but tighter to the trees on the left, joins him in the same spot.

  12. Bogey for Zalatorispublished at 20:06 BST 11 April 2021

    Zalatoris -8, Conners -7 (3)

Will Zalatoris reaches for his flat stick from the fringes at three but is a little too keen and pushes it seven feet beyond the flag. A tricky putt to save par... and it breaks left and away from the target at the last moment.

A bogey for the 24-year-old. He drops back to two off the lead.

  13. Birdies for Rose & Leishmanpublished at 20:04 BST 11 April 2021

    Rose -7, Leishman -7 (2)

Justin Rose was looking a little fed up after finding the fairway bunker on the second but a glorious iron with his third provides a gimme for birdie.

After a bogey on the first that was the perfect response.

Not to be outdone Marc Leishman recovers from a trip into the trees off the tee to also get back to where he started 30 minutes or so ago.

  14. Postpublished at 20:03 BST 11 April 2021

    Matsuyama -10, Schauffele -7 (1)

No Japanese man has ever won a golf major. And if Matsuyama manages that feat today then it will seal a remarkable double at Augusta for the nation.

Eight days ago, Matsuyama's compatriot Tsubasa Kajitani won the Augusta National Women's Amateur in a play-off against Emilia Migliaccio.

  15. Postpublished at 20:00 BST 11 April 2021

    Matsuyama -10, Schauffele -7 (1)

Hideki Matsuyama is aiming to be presented with the ultimate prize in Butler Cabin later today.

And he has collected some silverware there before...

    Matsuyama -10, Schauffele -7 (1)

Onto the second then for our final pairing, Schauffele's honour. His caddie's outstretched left arm indicating they are not happy with where that ends up.

Matsuyama then. Needs a stomach settler here. Lovely swing, lovely drive. Down the middle.

  17. Postpublished at 19:59 BST 11 April 2021

    Zalatoris -9, Conners -7 (2)

Another booming drive from Will Zalatoris, lobbing one 325 yards and leaving it just short and left of the third green.

Corey Conners opts to go a little safer, leaving his tee shot short of the bunkers before clipping on to the edge of the green to give himself 16 feet for birdie.

Zalatoris just overcooks his second a little, flipping a wedge over the green and on to the fringes on the other side - the pin is in such a tight position today, very little to aim at there.

Jordan Spieth, Rory McIlroy and Greg Norman have all surrendered four-stroke leads on a Sunday at the Masters.

And there have of course been a few even bigger turnarounds.

There'll be plenty of players hoping the same fate befalls Hideki Matsuyama who is aiming to become the first Japanese man to win a major golf title.

  20. Bogey for Matsuyamapublished at 19:57 BST 11 April 2021

    Matsuyama -10, Schauffele -7 (1)

That early tension is still there for Matsuyama. A stiff chip can't climb the bank and veers way off left. Landing this par putt from 30-odd feet would be special... what a good effort. An inch to the right and he would have sunk it.

Still it is a bogey for the Japanese player. That four-shot lead? Already down to one...
