    Matsuyama -13, Schauffele -6 (9)

Matsuyama's opening drive of the day ended up in the trees, but since then he has been very thorough off the tees.

On 10, the 495-yard par four, he confidently nails his tee-shot down the middle and then follows that up with a terrific seven-iron straight at the flag.

    Another birdie chance...

  2. Postpublished at 21:58 BST 11 April 2021

    Rose -5, Leishman -5 (10)

Another hole down and no signs of movement up the leaderboard from either player.

Both are now eight off the lead and yet to get any real momentum going.

  3. Birdie for MacIntyrepublished at 21:55 BST 11 April 2021

    MacIntyre -2, Finau E (12)

Few holes cause problems like the par-three 12th at Augusta. Golden Bell, is the fourth most difficult hole in Masters history.

But debutant Robert MacIntyre clearly pays no attention to those sort of facts. A precise iron shot gives him an eight-footer for birdie which he strokes home.

It's back-to-back bogeys for Tony Finau after three putts.

  5. Birdie for Matsuyamapublished at 21:53 BST 11 April 2021

    Matsuyama -13, Schauffele -6 (9)

Four could quickly become five for Matsuyama...

The leader confidently converts his birdie putt on the ninth to stretch his lead even further at the turn.

That sticky start is long forgotten now. Matsuyama is looking assured and is threatening to turn this into a procession.

However... the back nine at Augusta might have something to say about that...

  6. Bogey for Finaupublished at 21:50 BST 11 April 2021

    MacIntyre -1, Finau -1 (11)

Tony Finau is wandering around Augusta National in a luminous yellow shirt, but bar a superb shot on seven he has rarely sparkled.

A poor pitch in to the 11th leaves him with work to do and he ends up with his second bogey of the day.

  7. Postpublished at 21:49 BST 11 April 2021

    Matsuyama -12, Schauffele -6 (8)

Back where we started the day then - with a four-shot lead for Hideki Matsuyama.

The Japanese player is finding his groove now, nailing his drive on the 10th and then knocking his approach to within three feet. A slightly uphill birdie putt awaits.

Schauffele's approach from a similarly decent drive is not quite as good. He hits the front and the ball zips back towards him.

  9. Rahm sets clubhouse targetpublished at 21:47 BST 11 April 2021

    Rahm -6 (F)

Jon Rahm hits a booming drive down the 18th and a superb iron into the heart of the green.

He's left himself a downhill putt of around a dozen feet. He taps the back of the ball and it wanders off down the slope. It can't stop short can it? By about an inch.

The world number three ends his week with a six-under 66 to follow three level-par 72s. He also became a dad for the first time eight days ago. I suspect he'll be pretty happy.

  10. Bogey for Zalatorispublished at 21:46 BST 11 April 2021

    Zalatoris -8, Conners -2 (10)

It looked tricky, and so it proved.

Will Zalatoris can't make it down in par, three-putting for a bogey at 10, and Hideki Matsuyama's lead is back to the four shots he started the day with.

  11. Bogey for Rosepublished at 21:46 BST 11 April 2021

    Rose -5, Leishman -5 (9)

The breeze is really picking up around Augusta National.

Justin Rose doesn't like that. He sends a wedge over the ninth green so has to lob back on to the green.

He presses reset on a tricky par-saving putt but to no avail, seeing his effort curl around but not drop into the cup.

  12. Postpublished at 21:43 BST 11 April 2021

    Zalatoris -9, Conners -2 (9)

That's the first time today we've seen Will Zalatoris showing a sign of frustration.

He turns away from his birdie putt at 10 before it's even stopped rolling. The American had to start it a long way left and didn't catch the line.

It trickles 12 feet past its intended target and he'll have a tough par-saver coming back the other way.

  13. Postpublished at 21:42 BST 11 April 2021

    Spieth -5, Harman -4 (10)

What of Jordan Spieth? The resurgent 2015 champion was expected to make a big move today, but bogeys at five and six stalled his challenge.

However, the American is back where he started the day after birdies at nine and 10.

Playing partner Brian Harman is also level pegging for the day. A birdie on the eighth wiped out a bogey on the fourth for the left-hander.

  14. Leaderboardpublished at 21:40 BST 11 April 2021

    -12 H Matsuyama (8)

    -9 W Zalatoris (9)

    -6 J Rahm (17), X Schauffele (7), J Rose (8)

    -5 J Spieth (10), M Leishman (8)

  15. Birdies for Matsuyama & Schauffelepublished at 21:39 BST 11 April 2021

    Matsuyama -12, Schauffele -6 (8)

Now Hideki Matsuyama has a three-shot lead again. The disappointment of missing that short birdie putt on the seventh disappears when the leader makes no mistake on the eighth.

Moments earlier, Xander Schauffele wonderfully dropped his longer effort into the hole to leave both men walking to the ninth tee with birdies on the card.

  16. Postpublished at 21:36 BST 11 April 2021

    Zalatoris -9, Conners -2 (9)

Will Zalatoris is the only one of the leaders to be under par today. He's aiming to become the first debutant winner at the Masters since Fuzzy Zoeller in 1979.

The 24-year-old seeks out the fairway again at 10. He's been solid off the tee.

  17. Par save for Rahmpublished at 21:35 BST 11 April 2021

    Rahm -6 (17)

Is there a little bit of adrenaline flowing through Jon Rahm's veins? He overcooks his second to the 17th, his ball airmailing the green and zipping off down a slope and into a dell.

He chips back, bouncing the ball into the bank but he's given that a bit too much of a thwack. The ball hits the hole but it's not stopping.

A testy six-footer coming back for par now. A mini-fist pump tells you it's in.

  18. Postpublished at 21:35 BST 11 April 2021

    Matsuyama -11, Schauffele -5 (7)

From a similar place to where Zalatoris was a few moments earlier, Schauffele precisely knocks within 15 feet of the pin from wide right.

Matsuyama must show an even more delicate touch from through the back. That's exactly what he does, gently knocking onto the fringe and letting the contours do the rest of the work. Lovely touch.

    Birdie putts await...

  19. Postpublished at 21:32 BST 11 April 2021

    Matsuyama -11, Schauffele -5 (7)

Other than Rahm and - to a lesser degree - Zalatoris, no-one else is really ripping up Augusta today.

That's good news for Matsuyama who, of course, doesn't have to. Tee to green without too many detours will do him very nicely.

His drive on the par-five eight ends up in the first cut and from there he knocks on a three-wood. Well, on and then off because it doesn't hold up.

Schauffele, confidence boosted by that birdie on seven, will hoping to snatch another one back here. His second is pushed right, meaning he has some undulating land to negotiate with.

  20. Postpublished at 21:31 BST 11 April 2021

    Zalatoris -9, Conners -2 (8)

No problem for Will Zalatoris, he slips his par putt into the middle of the cup to keep himself at nine under par and two off the lead.
