Jock Jamieson Black: My brother hasn't backed Rory for the first time since 2011. Anyone know any good mortgage rates?

    Ha. McIlroy top 10 IMO.

  11. The story so far...published at 14:17 GMT 12 November 2020

Just in case you haven't read the headline on this page - there is currently no play at Augusta because it's a wee bit wet in Georgia.

Only three groups managed to complete their opening holes (first and 10th) at the start of the day. Then the heavens opened wider with Augusta now hoping its drainage system goes into overdive.

Opinions on the ground in Augusta suggest a restart time of 16:30 Greenwich Mean Time. Irons crossed!

  12. Nicklaus and Player to be joined by Elder in 2021published at 14:13 GMT 12 November 2020

    Lee ElderImage source, AP

Jack Nicklaus and Gary Player, who have six Green Jackets between them, were, as always, the honorary starters for earlier this morning.

They will be joined, when everyone returns for the 85th staging of this tournament in April next year, by Lee Elder, who in 1975 became the first black golfer to play at the Masters.

"I've got to commend Augusta National on inviting Lee and taking that step," said Player.

    "He's had a rough life."

The South African added: "I was extremely excited because in 1969, in the midst of our turbulent society in South Africa, I asked Lee Elder to visit.

"He was put under pressure by certain groups here and I was called a traitor. But he had the courage to accept the invitation. At that stage no black people were visiting South Africa."

Nicklaus said: "When Lee became the first African American to play the Masters, I thought that was great and to honour him now is very appropriate and I look forward to teeing it up with him next April."

And also your tip for the best European performance.

James Baker: DJ to win #themasters, external because he's in his best form since '17 when he got injured & 2nd place last year - he's 'trending' as they tend to say in the US I think Rory will be the best finishing European, but think Tyrrell Hatton will impress.

DJ has managed three top 10s in his past three Masters.

Him and Koepka final round...? Eeek!

  15. Three-time champ Faldo on Augustapublished at 13:55 GMT 12 November 2020

    Nick Faldo
    Three-time Masters Champion

It's all about hitting the right shot all the time and landing it consistently on the right number.

That's one thing I've watched in him over the years when he's warming up on the range. Sometimes the eight-iron, there is too much disparity between the shots.

On the old range at Augusta there'd be a little green down the left hand side, it was the size of a dinner plate and I'd just be hitting eight and nine irons to that, so I'd get the consistency, literally feeling it off the club.

You could literally feel plus or minus a yard to that level of distance control.

And then occasionally he throws a bad drive in. The downswing is the bit that gets him and he'll block one and that starts to affect confidence in how you release it.

Pools of water have made this course look very unplayable at this moment in time.

The weather looks rotten. It's 24C to 26C, so this much needed heat will help.
