Lawrence: The reason VAR is working in other European Leagues is simple, the referee standard in the Premier League is terribly poor. For years they have been getting away with it, but now they are in control of VAR as well they are exposed for what they are, second rate.
Can we not just buy up all the best foreign refs to officiate the best league in the world ! We did it with the players and managers.

We can't really be surprised that the standard of officiating is so poor at the moment, surely the consequence of years of abuse suffered by referees in all forms of football from grass roots up? Who would honestly decide to referee these days? Football needs to examine its attitudes to officials at all levels if we genuinely want the standard to improve.

Watford 1-3 West Ham
The Sir Elton John Stand has emptied out. They're not still standing. They've gone home.
Southampton 1-1 Tottenham
Tottenham are turning the screw.
Kyle Walker-Peters is not in the mood for letting them through, though. He rises to nod the ball away from Harry Kane in the middle and then launches himself in front of a follow-up shot to block in the middle.
You shall not pass! He just needs a staff now.
Crystal Palace 3-0 Norwich
Jean-Philippe Mateta departs to a standing ovation from the Palace supporters. Christian Benteka is on in his stead.
Przemyslaw Placheta meanwhile is still feeling the effects of that earlier collision and cannot continue. On comes Josh Sargent.
Southampton 1-1 Tottenham
The offside flag is becoming a bit of a nemesis for Spurs.
Harry Kane lets fly with an effort that is saved but up goes the wavy, felt thing. Wouldn't have counted anyway.
Crystal Palace 3-0 Norwich
Jonathan Rowe has been lively since coming on. The teenager floats in a cross from the left but it evades everyone inside the Palace penalty area and goes out for a throw-on the opposite flank.
Southampton 1-1 Tottenham
Bryan Gil has brought some directness to the Spurs side. He drives to the byeline and sends over a cross that is stopped at the near post by Fraser Forster.
Southampton 1-1 Tottenham
Still level at St Mary's.
Bryan Gil, who recently came on, sends over a cross that Son Heung-min flicks with his head straight into the hands of Fraser Forster.
Ten minutes to go.
Watford 1-3 West Ham
If it is going to happen for Watford it needs to happen now. Joshua King charges away but his poor pass towards Emmanuel Dennis is easily cut out.

Mark Burt: Ridiculous refereeing to disallow that goal. Not remotely a foul, just awful keeping. Goalkeepers get way too much protection.
Ed Franklin: Anthony Taylor now over-compensating by ignoring fouls on Spurs players and giving an incredibly soft free-kick to save Forster's mistake.
Trevor Durham: Never a foul in a million years. Joke refereeing, and the VAR was, what, off on a tea break?

Palace make their first change of the afternoon as Will Hughes comes off for the returning Luka Milivojevic.
Watford 1-3 West Ham
This is really poor refereeing. Michail Antonio is shoved in the back by a Watford player and sent into another Hornets player, who goes down. Darren England decides it's a Watford free-kick.
I'm pretty confident in stating that the standard of officials in England is on a steep decline.
Crystal Palace 3-0 Norwich
Another chance for Pierre Lees-Melou, who sidefoots Jonathan Rowe's cut-back high over the crossbar.
Norwich have certainly had their opportunities this afternoon.
Crystal Palace 3-0 Norwich
That might have been going in, you know.
Cheikhou Kouyate's headed clearance falls to Pierre Lees-Melou on the edge of the Palace penalty area. The midfielder unleashes a thunderous volley which is blocked by a Palace defender.
Southampton 1-1 Tottenham
Saints are now camped around their own box, challenging Spurs to thread a pass.
The visitors will be frustrated not to be ahead after the tight offside call and that "foul" on Fraser Forster to rule out the own goal.
Watford 1-3 West Ham
Watford now giving it everything they have left.
Joshua King sees a low shot saved by Lukasz Fabianski.
Crystal Palace 3-0 Norwich
Christos Tzolis is replaced by 18-year-old Jonathan Rowe, who comes on for his first senior appearance for Norwich.
Southampton 1-1 Tottenham
Fraser Forster doing some proper keeping now.
He is out to block Matt Doherty's chipped shot after the full-back had been put in on goal by Son Heung-min.
Can Saints hold out here?
