  10. 'Kane being fed off scraps'published at 16:50 BST 15 July 2020

    Newcastle v Tottenham (18:00 BST)

    Mark Lawrenson
    Ex-Liverpool defender

Newcastle have lost their past two games, against Manchester City and Watford, and they are safe in mid-table with not a great deal to play for.

Tottenham won the north London derby at the weekend, but to say it was a unconvincing victory is probably the fairest way of summing it up.

Spurs have got a lot of work to do if they want to get nearer the top two next season, but with Harry Kane in their side, they always carry a goal threat.

The worry there is that someone might come in for Kane and say to him 'look, come and play for a team who try to win games' because I don't imagine playing up front for Spurs is too much fun at the moment - he is being fed off scraps.

Plus, we have seen before with Dimitar Berbatov and Michael Carrick that, if players want to leave and a big enough offer is received, Tottenham chairman Daniel Levy is willing to sell.

    Prediction: 0-2

  11. 'We have something to play for'published at 16:48 BST 15 July 2020

    Newcastle v Tottenham (18:00 BST)

    Tottenham Hotspur

Tottenham forward Son Heung-min: "Of course we have something to play for, we are always playing for three points. It is going to be a tough game.

"The players are still not comfortable with the empty stadiums, we are playing so many games but we are ready. I hope we can bring a good performance."

  12. City to bag a few more?published at 16:46 BST 15 July 2020

Man City v Bournemouth (18:00 BST)

    Mark Lawrenson
    Ex-Liverpool defender

Bournemouth's win over Leicester on Sunday was such a strange game. Leicester looked in control at 1-0 up at half-time, but self-imploded after the break.

I don't see the Cherries' revival continuing at Etihad Stadium, though. Manchester City have hit five goals in each of their past two games, and I think they will bag a few more here.

    Prediction: 4-0

  13. Postpublished at 16:43 BST 15 July 2020

    Newcastle v Tottenham (18:00 BST)

Some excellent, anxious scenes at Newcastle as Jan Vertonghen can't find his phone which he needs to scan into the building. Had to do the whole 'lost-your-passport-at-the-airport' procedure of putting his washbag on the wall, having a good rummage, emptying everything out.

'It's in here somewhere.' A horrible wave of embarrassment. Thankfully he's in after a bit of a delay.

The Championship is a mad league, highlighted by Wigan's stunning 8-0 win against Hull last night. Seven of those goals came in an incredible first half.

A fantastic result for Wigan as they look to survive relegation - even with the threat of a 12-point deduction for going into administration - but a night every Hull fan will hope to forget very, very quickly.

  15. Who will reach the Champions League?published at 16:40 BST 15 July 2020

Premier League champions Liverpool and Manchester City, who will definitely finish second, have already booked their place in next season's Champions League.

Chelsea, Leicester and Manchester United are probably battling it out for the final two Champions League group stage spots - although Wolves, Sheffield United and Tottenham could all qualify mathematically.

Both Wolves and Tottenham can ill afford to slip up tonight to retain their hopes of playing in Europe's premier club competition next season.

  18. Ray of hope or false dawn?published at 16:28 BST 15 July 2020

Football can be a strange beast - particularly at this stage of the season.

At half-time in Bournemouth's game against Leicester on Sunday, Cherries fans will have been forgiven for having a look at the Championship table and getting familiar with potential opponents for next season.

By full time, they were basking in the unexpected glory of a 4-1 win and thinking maybe, just maybe, Bournemouth could cling onto their Premier League status.

Is there still hope for Eddie Howe's men? Or is that win just delaying the inevitable?

They will certainly need to dig deep for something special against a free-scoring Manchester City tonight.
