If you did a straw poll of Premier managers I think the majority would choose Grealish over Maddison.

Brilliant again from Jack Grealish, he cannot be tackled by legal means and he buys a cheap free kick from Jonny Evans. He urges his team-mates on but it's such a backs to the wall job in this second half.

Into the last 20 minutes. Kasper Schmeichel has got changed and already done his post-match interviews. Back in the car park.

Kelechi Iheanacho is ready to come on for Leicester. They need him too, Jamie Vardy hasn't had a sniff in the second half.

Here's the change - and it's Ayoze Perez who comes off.

Nyland has done really well today, he's been positive, made crucial saves and come for crosses. I think he's been excellent so far, he can be happy with what he's done for Aston Villa.

  6. SUBSTITUTIONpublished at 67 mins

Conor Hourihane is on for Villa, another brick in the wall.

  7. 'Great feet and a great shot'published at 21:23 GMT 8 January 2020

Good play from Maddison and Pereira, they combined really well - Maddison came to life, great feet and a great shot.

We're talking about Pereira getting forward but Soyuncu can do that too - Villa are defending so, so deep that they can leave it two-on-one at the back.

  8. GREAT SAVE!published at 63 mins

    Leicester 0-1 Aston Villa

What a good pass! Ricardo plays a neat, reverse pass inside a congested penalty area to find James Maddison. He manages to buy himself a yard of space, beating Kortney Hause and battering in a shot to the near post but Orjan Nyland is equal to it.

    Better!

Leicester could do with a Plan B. Aston Villa are shutting up shop pretty effectively here.

  10. 'Mings is defending brilliantly'published at 21:18 GMT 8 January 2020

    Leicester 0-1 Aston Villa

    Clinton Morrison
Former Crystal Palace striker on BBC Radio 5 Live

Tyrone Mings is like a magnet to that football at the moment, he's defending brilliantly. Leicester are playing really well, but haven't really worked Nyland this half so far.

Leicester City increasing the tempo but this Aston Villa defence is in resilient mood - and when they do get on the ball captain Jack Grealish has been outstanding.

Sorry, but neither Grealish or Maddison are fit to lace the boots of Gerrard or Lampard.

    Dom, Leicester

Maddison vs Grealish debate is the same as debating whether to have kebab or pizza for takeaway! Both great options! But they key is that these two are the future of English midfield (not forgetting Mount too!) enjoy. Future is bright for English talent!

Yet another corner. Tyrone Mings clears at his near post again. Villa are up against it but equally, they look pretty comfortable. Pushing Leicester wide and defending any crosses in.

  16. 'Leicester lacking ideas'published at 21:14 GMT 8 January 2020

    Leicester 0-1 Aston Villa

    Clinton Morrison
Former Crystal Palace striker on BBC Radio 5 Live

Leicester are good up until a certain part of the pitch, and then when they get in and around the penalty area they're lacking ideas - and that's unusual for Leicester, because they're usually one of the best creative teams in the league.

  17. Postpublished at 56 mins

    Leicester 0-1 Aston Villa

Jonny Evans brings the ball down in the centre circle, Villa retreat yards off him and he just stands there looking at his options. Urgency?

James Maddison has some, whipping in a good ball which Tyrone Mings stretches to hook over his own bar.

The generation of absolutes. We have to know which is best!

Leicester absolutely dominant, I'd like to give you a detailed breakdown of stats in this half but we don't get the full array of numbers for the League Cup. Priorities.

It must be 70-75% of Leicester possession though. Relentless.

I found the Gerrard vs Lampard debate very dull, the Messi vs Ronaldo debate tedious and likewise the Grealish vs Maddison. Just enjoy two brilliant young English talents.

Youri Tielemans is playing higher up now and he lets fly from about 25 yards - catches it sweetly but it's always rising over the top.
