Leicester v Aston Villa (20:00 GMT)

Ex-Wales midfielder on BBC Radio 5 Live

Danny Drinkwater struggled at Burnley. In his Leicester days, he got his move to Chelsea because of that relationship with Jamie Vardy. I'm not sure Villa have got that sort of forward who can run in behind.

Drinkwater's a very good player, he's won the Premier League, and Aston Villa have got a good player if they can get the best out of him.

Leicester title winner Danny Drinkwater has joined Aston Villa on loan until the end of the season - but he can't play tonight.

Drinkwater spent the first half of the season on loan at Burnley but only made two appearances.

One of those was in the League Cup though so he won't be able to make his debut against his old side.

The 29-year-old has three England caps and helped Leicester City win the Premier League in 2015-16, but he has failed to make an impact at Chelsea following his £40m move in 2017.

"I'm massively excited to come to such a big club like Villa," he said.

"I want the club to stay in the Premier League 100%, that's why I have come here to help the team and personally to get game time."

  6. Let's make history...published at 18:52 GMT 8 January 2020

Leicester v Aston Villa (20:00 GMT)

Brendan Rodgers wants Leicester to "create new history" by reaching the Carabao Cup final with victory over Premier League rivals Aston Villa.

The Foxes last won the trophy in 2000.

"I'm aware the club hasn't been to a final for 20 years so let's get there then," Rodgers said, with his side strong favourites.

The winners will play Manchester United or Manchester City in the final.

Rodgers added: "Let's not be worried too much about the past. Let's create this new history but we know we're going to have to play well to get there.

"It's always nice when you have something tangible to show for your progress by reaching the League Cup final."

It's 20 years since Leicester won the League Cup, and 24 years since Aston Villa lifted the trophy.

Two games stand between one of the sides and a place at Wembley.

It's a big chance for both clubs to cap their season with a trophy.

Leicester are flying under Brendan Rodgers, losing just four games all season, while Villa have found wins hard to come by in their first year back in the big time.

    Let battle commence!
