Paul Collins: Can't be only one to think it's ludicrous for a newly promoted team to come up and only have one main striker? Who's now injured... Kodjia ain't ill, he's just avoiding potential injury that could stop a transfer. They need to sign another or will struggle to survive.

  2. CLOSE!published at 13 mins

    Leicester 0-0 Aston Villa

Best chance yet! Leicester keep the ball for an age, Ricardo has two crosses half blocked out, the ball runs into Ayoze Perez's stride and he hits it cleanly, from 20 yards, and it flies wide of the far post via a slight deflection.

    Almost.

  3. 'Dean Smith's not happy'published at 20:12 GMT 8 January 2020

    Leicester 0-0 Aston Villa

    Clinton Morrison
Former Crystal Palace striker on BBC Radio 5 Live

He's not happy, Dean Smith. They're playing three at the back and Vardy's the first one to the ball - three-on-one, you've got to put more pressure on him - and he's got to say to Nyland to stop kicking it long. Play it out from the back, that's how you're going to keep possession.

In possession, they've not been good. Leicester are finding little pockets and spaces so they're finding it difficult at the moment.

  4. Postpublished at 10 mins

    Leicester 0-0 Aston Villa

Villa's first real counter attack sees Neil Taylor swing in a cross from the left but there's no obvious target for it and Leicester manage it easily enough. Dean Smith and John Terry are in deep discussions. Not too happy.

  5. Postpublished at 8 mins

    Leicester 0-0 Aston Villa

A slow burner this so far. Leicester dominating the ball, Villa set in tight and deep, no easy way through. Patience the key for the hosts.

  6. 'Villa are worried about Vardy's pace'published at 20:06 GMT 8 January 2020

    Leicester 0-0 Aston Villa

    Clinton Morrison
Former Crystal Palace striker on BBC Radio 5 Live

It's going to be hard for Leicester, they're going to have to play their passing game and get into pockets because Villa won't drop out of their shape.

What I've noticed as well is that Villa are a bit deeper. They're worried about Jamie Vardy's pace so they're not pushing up.

  7. Postpublished at 6 mins

    Leicester 0-0 Aston Villa

Great work from Ayoze Perez, appearing out of nowhere to take the ball off Marvelous Nakamba and set Leicester on their way once more.

  8. Postpublished at 4 mins

    Leicester 0-0 Aston Villa

Pretty much a flat back five for Villa and Ben Chilwell tries to get in down the sides, he anticipates a challenge from Fred Guilbert but the defender pulls out and Chilwell runs it out of play.

  9. 'Leicester are a really formidable force'published at 20:03 GMT 8 January 2020

    Leicester 0-0 Aston Villa

    Clinton Morrison
Former Crystal Palace striker on BBC Radio 5 Live

El Ghazi's got pace, so it will be counter-attacking football and he's the quickest of all those players, so it's a sensible decision to play him as that kind of false number nine so he can stretch the defence.

You have to stay in the tie, and that's what Villa will want to do today. Leicester are a really formidable force at the moment, especially at home.

  10. Postpublished at 3 mins

    Leicester 0-0 Aston Villa

James Maddison's first moment in the game is a whipped in free-kick to the back stick, Caglar Soyuncu is up for the header but Orjan Nyland is able to make an easy enough claim in the Villa net.

  11. Postpublished at 1 min

    Leicester 0-0 Aston Villa

It's Anwar El Ghazi who is through the middle for Villa in these early stages with Jack Grealish to his left and Trezeguet to his right. False nines everywhere you look.

Teams in the tunnel, excellent pre-match atmosphere. Let's do this!

Can Villa stay in the tie, away from home without a striker?

I know what you're all thinking - I wonder what Clinton Morrison thinks of tonight's game?

Well we're in luck - the former Crystal Palace striker who scored in a semi-final against Liverpool once upon a time - is at the game alongside Ian Dennis.

  15. Which 10 would you take?published at 19:54 GMT 8 January 2020

It's an entirely made up comparison/rivalry but one we're all talking about. Which number 10 would you rather have in your side?

    james MaddisonImage source, Getty Images

I don't think either would get in Keith Curle's side so not one I have to worry about.

  16. 'The things Grealish can do with a football are unreal'published at 19:52 GMT 8 January 2020

Leicester v Aston Villa (20:00 GMT)

    Clinton Morrison
Former Crystal Palace striker on BBC Radio 5 Live

Maddison and Grealish are both brilliant. In my opinion, Maddison is a better striker of the ball and he's a complete player - but for me the things Jack Grealish can do with a football are unreal.

If it's the 88th minute of a game and I want someone to pull us out of trouble, I'd look to Grealish to beat two or three people and get the ball in the back of the net.

  17. Rodgers eyes Villa paybackpublished at 19:51 GMT 8 January 2020

    Phil McNulty
BBC Sport chief football writer at The King Power Stadium

Leicester City manager Brendan Rodgers has bitter memories of a previous semi-final meeting with Aston Villa - when Liverpool lost in the FA Cup at Wembley in 2015.

It was one of the signs that his time at Liverpool was drawing to a close but he is now back and revitalised and guiding The Foxes towards a place in next season's Champions League.

It is a filthy night at The King Power Stadium and the players are going through their final warm-ups in a torrential downpour.

  18. 'Vardy is fit and flying'published at 19:50 GMT 8 January 2020

Leicester v Aston Villa (20:00 GMT)

    Leicester City

Leicester manager Brendan Rodgers: "We've got two very tough games to try and get to the final but we have been outstanding all season. Our objective from the start was to reach the final of this competition and we have an opportunity to do that.

"Jamie Vardy is 100% fit, he'll be fine. He's fit and flying.

"Aston Villa have no striker, that's unfortunate for Dean but they have players who can play there, they have a good team and we'll have to be at our best to get a result.

"It's our first semi-final for 20 years so it's up to tus to get the crowd going."

  20. Kodjia on his way?published at 19:44 GMT 8 January 2020

    Phil McNulty
    BBC Sport chief football writer

Nottingham Forest and French Ligue 1 side Amiens are among a number of clubs who have shown an interest in Aston Villa striker Jonathan Kodjia.

The 30-year-old is currently out of favour at Villa Park and misses tonight's game through illness.

Kodjia joined Villa from Bristol City in August 2016 in a deal worth an initial £11m.
