Excellent play from Forrest, he turned on a six pence and then Tierney took a great touch with a great finish doing what a good fullback does.

Superb from James Forrest and Kieran Tierney to give Celtic the lead. The run from Forrest was really the first time Celtic had threatened. The atmosphere inside Celtic Park all of a sudden crackling with electricity. Fascinating to see how RB Leipzig react to all this.

GOAL Celtic 1-0 RB Leipzigpublished at 10 mins

    Kieran Tierney

Celtic have hardly been out of their own half and now they lead! James Forrest does well to break into the penalty area from the right and his low cross goes all the way to left-back Kieran Tierney on the other side of the box. He takes a touch and arrows a low strike in that the keeper gets a hand to but can't keep out.

This is a team that's playing fourth in the Bundesliga. They're confident, they'll push players forward. They have the diamond in the middle and it's four against Celtic's three. Celtic have opportunities down the wide areas, but they need to move it quickly.

    Celtic 0-0 RB Leipzig

A poor pass out from Craig Gordon invites pressure and soon the goalkeeper is at full-stretch to push away a long-range effort from Marcel Sabitzer.

    Celtic 0-0 RB Leipzig

The visitors are quick and they love a high press. Already, Mikael Lustig has been closed down twice, taking too long on the ball, but no harm done.

  7. German record makes grim readingpublished at 20:03 GMT 8 November 2018

    Celtic 0-0 RB Leipzig

One look at Celtic's record against German sides in Europe is enough to send a chill down even the most optimistic of spines, with only three wins from 23 matches.

Just to rub it in, the Scottish champions have lost six of 11 at home, including each of the past three.

That record needs to improve tonight...

First sight of those much talked about ‘disco lights’ at Celtic Park. To be fair, it was a very impressive light show, but of course all that really matters is what happens on the pitch. The fans certainly seemed to enjoy the show pre-match and there is a buoyant atmosphere inside Celtic Park for a match that really matters.

  10. Leipzig seek seventh successive clean sheetpublished at 19:58 GMT 8 November 2018

    Celtic v RB Leipzig (20:00)

If Celtic are to get the win they crave, they must break down the meanest defence in the Bundesliga.

RB Leipzig have conceded just nine goals in 10 league games and are on a run of six clean sheets in all competitions.

Since sweeping Celtic aside in Germany in late October, Ralf Rangnick's side have drawn with Schalke 04, knocked Hoffenheim out of the cup and eased to a 3-0 win at Hertha Berlin last weekend.

  11. Rangers fall from first to third placepublished at 19:58 GMT 8 November 2018

    FT: Spartak Moscow 4-3 Rangers

Villarreal take over at the top of Group G after a 0-0 draw at Rapid Vienna.

Rangers drop below Spartak on the head-to-head but that section is still wide open, with the Ibrox side just one point behind the Spaniards with two games to go.

    Celtic vs RB Leipzig (20:00)

    Jonathan Sutherland
BBC Sport Scotland at Celtic Park

Brendan Rodgers goes with the same side that thumped Dundee and Hearts and he will hope that the rampaging form domestically can be transferred seamlessly to the European arena.

Promising signs in the central defensive partnership between Benkovic and Boyata, McGregor has been outstanding in midfield along with Christie and Rogic. But a real test tonight against an RB Leipzig side that can go up through the gears when necessary.

  14. Rangers rue defensive lapsespublished at 19:52 GMT 8 November 2018

You have to say on the second half alone Spartak deserve to win. Rangers will look back and wonder. They've been in the lead three times in this game, and if you throw that away, you don't deserve to win.

Rangers lose for the first time in Europe this season.

Steven Gerrard's men led three times but, with both sides defending like a bunch of strangers, the Russians hit back each time and Sofiane Hanni fired in the deflected winner.
