What is so disconcerting about this England team is that even when losing clusters of wickets you still feel confident they can turn it around. Is this what it feels like to be Australian?!

Good, tight stuff again from Adam Zampa. His three overs have only gone for seven so far.

There's a few yelps as the Aussies think Jos Buttler has sliced a cut straight to backward point but he places it well enough to pick up a couple. Buttler, with the time to build an innings here, could be extremely dangerous.

Here's how Eoin Morgan fell for 23.

    Soft. Very soft.

This is like a Test match over - a superb forward defence from Jos Buttler and then it's followed up with an excellent Pat Cummins bouncer.

    Bairstow 46, Buttler 2

Australia are pulling the run-rate back down at the moment. England, having rebuilt well under Jonny Bairstow and Eoin Morgan, are just having a few overs of consolidation again.

Judging what a good score is today is really tough. That short boundary drags it up, but then the other is so big if you bowl cleverly with your spinners and variations as a pace bowler you can drag it back down again.

Adam Zampa is a very interesting guy who has a lot of interests outside cricket.

  8. Eng 71-3published at 13 overs

Adam Zampa is absolutely rattling through his overs at the moment. He's once again bowling tight and accurate with just a Jonny Bairstow single added to the total.

There's a strangled appeal/disappointment from the Aussies as Jos Buttler misses a booming drive. Was there a thin edge there? It doesn't matter anyway because Alex Carey fumbled it behind the stumps.

Graham B: If ever you were going to lose two wickets in two balls in an ODI then the first two balls of your innings is the best time. There is no momentum to lose and there is plenty of time to rebuild.

Pat Cummins, who is one of the players off to the IPL tomorrow with a big $2m pay cheque coming his way, has swapped ends and replaced Josh Hazlewood.

How do you even spend $2m dollars? Feel free to send your suggestions to #bbccricket or by texting 81111 (UK only).

It's a much tighter over with just a single coming off it.

Looking at this wicket and the short boundary, it feels like England should be looking to get 350 as a minimum today.

  13. Eng 68-3published at 11 overs

Jos Buttler is the new batsman - how he'd like a score after a 1 & 3 in the series so far. He gets off the mark first up with a drive through the covers.

Adam Zampa has taken eight wickets in this three-game ODI series now. He's had an excellent series.

You don't often see Eoin Morgan show that sort of emotion when he gets out but he was furious with himself.

That's a soft dismissal, Eoin Morgan hanged his head after playing that shot.

The leggie strikes with his second ball!

With pace travelling all around Old Trafford Aaron Finch decides to take pace off the ball and it brings instant reward for the Aussies.

It's a bit wide from Zampa and Eoin Morgan looks to go over the in-field - it's a shot he plays really well but he doesn't quite get hold of it and Mitchell Starc, at mid-off, takes a good catch.

    That's a tame dismissal.

Once Bairstow and Morgan weathered six or seven balls each, they have mastered this wicket and looked really positive.

  18. Eng 67-2published at 10 overs

This is the best that Jonny Bairstow has looked in the Pakistan and Australia series. He again finds the boundary with a well-timed and placed cut shot.

That's the end of the powerplay. Who won that then? England? Australia? Even-stevens?

Pat Cummins comes back well after the ropey start to the over with five dot balls.

Australia are trying to cramp Eoin Morgan for room but the England skipper looks in good nick.
