    Lamine Yamal pen (90+5 min)

    No mistake from Lamine Yamal!

He sends the penalty into the bottom corner as Aaron Ramsdale dives the wrong way.

Newcastle fans and players have their heads in their hands. They can't believe it.

  2. goal

GOAL: Atalanta 1-6 Bayern Munichpublished at 21:51 GMT 10 March

    Mario Pasalic (90+3 mins)

    A consolation at least...

Something for the devoted home fans to cheer as Mario Pasalic bundles home a low cross from the right of the box from close range.

It's the final action of the game as Bayern have made all their subs and Jonas Urbig is helped from the pitch after a heavy collision with Pasalic.

Jamal Musiala also walked off a moment before, with his side finishing a man short.

  3. PENALTY TO BARCELONApublished at 21:51 GMT 10 March

    Newcastle 1-0 Barcelona

    Disaster for Newcastle!

The clock had just ticked past the fourth minute of four added on when Dani Olmo is brought down inside the box by Malick Thiaw.

Lamine Yamal, who I've just said has been quiet tonight, steps up...

  4. Postpublished at 21:50 GMT 10 March

    Atletico Madrid 5-2 Tottenham

It's very nearly another disaster for Spurs as Kevin Danso misjudges the bounce of the ball and Nico Gonzalez nips in to chase.

The Atletico man ends up tripping Cristian Romero and Spurs are sparred further embarrassment.

  5. YELLOW CARDpublished at 21:49 GMT 10 March

    Newcastle 1-0 Barcelona

Joe Willock takes one for the team as he pulls back Lamine Yamal and is booked.

In fairness, we've not seen much of Yamal all night.

Spurs need to be relegated. It humbled and renewed Newcastle and Villa and Spurs need the same. They are a club in freefall off the pitch - build a team and come back up.

    Newcastle 1-0 Barcelona

    Chris Waddle
Former Newcastle & England winger on BBC Radio 5 Live

Barcelona have been absolutely woeful tonight, but you've got to think they will be a lot better on their home patch.

They are still well in the tie at 1-0.

  8. SUBSTITUTIONpublished at 21:48 GMT 10 March

    Newcastle 1-0 Barcelona

Off goes Harvey Barnes to take some applause from the fans and he is replaced by Joe Willock.

There's four minutes of stoppage time for Newcastle to hold on. Or maybe they could get one more?

  9. YELLOW CARDpublished at 21:47 GMT 10 March

    Atletico Madrid 5-2 Tottenham

Cristian Romero jumps for an aerial ball and catches Marcos Llorente in the face. Into the book he goes.

  11. 'Newcastle thoroughly deserve it'published at 21:44 GMT 10 March

    Newcastle 1-0 Barcelona

    Chris Waddle
Former Newcastle & England winger on BBC Radio 5 Live

Newcastle thoroughly deserved it with the performance they've put in tonight.

It's a simple goal and with the time-wasting Barcelona were trying, they deserve that too.

  12. SUBSTITUTIONpublished at 21:44 GMT 10 March

    Atletico Madrid 5-2 Tottenham

With eight minutes remaining, Igor Tudor elects to replace Djed Spence with Xavi Simons.

  13. YELLOW CARDpublished at 21:43 GMT 10 March

    Atalanta 0-6 Bayern Munich

Breaking news. Joshua Kimmich has picked up a yellow card for delaying the taking of a free-kick on halfway.

He will also miss the return leg in Munich but will be free from suspension headaches hanging over the quarter-finals, should Bayern get there (which they will).

Poor old Yunus Musah was so frustrated with Kimmich's delaying tactics he sprinted 25 yards to kick the ball at him to get it moving, and picks up a yellow card of his own for his trouble.

  14. SUBSTITUTIONpublished at 21:42 GMT 10 March

    Atletico Madrid 5-2 Tottenham

One Atletico Madrid legend is replaced by another as Antoine Griezmann makes way for Koke.

Spurs will be glad to see the back of Griezmann, he has been superb tonight.

    Harvey Barnes (86 mins)

    This one will count!

Newcastle have been the better side throughout and fully deserve this goal as Jacob Murphy plays a brilliant ball into the box and Harvey Barnes is left unmarked to volley in.

Huge noise in St James' Park, some fans can't believe it. Huge goal.

  16. 'Another goalkeeper mistake'published at 21:41 GMT 10 March

    Atletico Madrid 5-2 Tottenham

Dominic Solanke of Tottenham HotspurImage source, Getty Images

This is a game littered with mistakes from goalkeepers.

That is such a simple ball from Jan Oblak. He played that straight ball into midfield and it is a really good finish from Dominic Solanke who still had work to do.

Spurs are nowhere near still - but they have had two goals gifted to them.

  17. CLOSE!published at 21:41 GMT 10 March

    Atletico Madrid 5-2 Tottenham

    Atletico Madrd look ropey!

Archie Gray gets his foot to a low cross but can't quite direct it goalward.

Djed Spence collects the ball, lays it off to micky van de Ven, but he blazes over from a promising position.

If Spurs can get one more goal back...

  18. Postpublished at 21:40 GMT 10 March

    Newcastle 0-0 Barcelona

Marcus Rashford cuts inside along the edge of the box but his low drive is blocked before Dan Burn is fouled.

  19. YELLOW CARDpublished at 21:37 GMT 10 March

    Atalanta 0-6 Bayern Munich

Michael Olise has his name taken for time-wasting over a corner by ref Espen Eskas... with more than 10 minutes of a game remaining which his side are leading 6-0.

Interestingly that caution has ensured Olise will miss the return leg through suspension.

Funny how that sometimes happens, eh?

Dayot Upamecano and Joshua Kimmich are in a similar situation. One to watch, perhaps.

  20. goal

    Dominic Solanke (76 mins)

    Now then!

Jan Oblak has a lapse of concentration and overcooks a pass out from the back.

Pedro Porro pounces, passes to Solanke, who rifles a strike into the top corner from inside the box. Superb finish.
